I'm so shit at taking pictures with my phone, any tips for me?

Any time I take a pic of scenery that looks stunning in person, the photo never does it justice.

I'd like some tips with this too. We're pretty blessed where we live and we have some spectacular views, but no photo looks anything like what I can actually see lol

I'm pretty sure @lifted*foxis amazing at taking photos, he might reply if he sees this

what phone are you using?

getting good scenery / landscape shots with a phone is always hard because you cant really get much depth so everything ends up looking a bit flat.

Samsung S9. Not ultra modern but not too ancient either.

yeah, I guess it's just not got a very powerful camera - looking at the specs.

it'll struggle with the detail and depth - phones generally tend to do better with things nearer to you.

people who shoot landscapes and get amazing shots tend to have the right lenses etc. to do so.

even my fuji x100f doesn't do a great job on scenery stuff because of the lens specs but i bought it for street photography so, I lean towards that anyway.

Thanks Deb. I did have some photos in this thread but they've pretty much disappeared. I'll upload a few:

You always need to edit the image!

We picked up an old piano a few weeks ago and just had somebody round to clean and tune it. Underneath the keys he found a message written by a father to his daughter 109 years ago - which probably hasn't been seen by anybody else since...

Is It still in Swansea or do you live somewhere else?

We live in Oxfordshire. We got it for free from somebody who lives in Oxford and had owned it for several decades. It's in remarkably good condition and sounds beautiful.

Anyone any experience of the Fujifilm X100 series?

I was thinking of getting an X100V, but seeing as secondhand prices are so high I'm reckoning on the 100VI. Always fancied a rangefinder and this is so much more affordable than a Leica.

I've another lens coming today. Same delivery driver.

What lenses are you using?
What’s your preferred style of photography?
I love landscape/seascape (easily accessible where I live) but mostly wildlife/bird photography now.
Gone down the macro path too, thoroughly engaging but equally frustrating…

Have a 40mm f1.8 on the ZF and a 35mm(equivalent of a 50mm) on the D7100. I've a little zoom for the D7100, but it's slow and I hate zooms. Got a 28mm f2.8 coming today for the ZF.

I was asked to do the photography for the Poppies but I don't have the lenses for sports - and I'd rather be drinking beer. I like street work, hunting out things that interest me visually or can be incorporated into my fine art.

Next will be something really wide angle to do nighttime shots and probably a fast 85mm for portrait work.

Dangerous game, so many genres - I can help you with wife type excuses when you need a new cupboard for your equipment, several different sizes of bag, flashes, light deflectors etc etc.

Start with “no, this one is years old or I’ve borrowed it from xyz, I got this when I traded in xyz

I forgot, you have motorbike s so already know these 😂

The seed has been planted already

"Honestly the wife, I can't believe how cheap these old DSLR lenses are on Ebay!"

She hasn't got a clue about mirrorless.

I'm very late to this message but I had a X100F for a long time - I only sold it because I was offered almost twice what I paid for it several years ago. That range of cameras are absolutely beautiful and they are so well made. I threw mine in my bag everywhere I went and they're absolutely solid, no plastic. Very consistent images too. I think Fuji are hard to beat when it comes to Mirrorless cameras (also had an XT-1 previously)

I put an order in on a VI, but the wait list is ridiculous as apparently someone told twats that it will make them an instant tickytok celebrity.

Ordered a Nikon ZF instead - and adore it. Full metal jacket with gorgeous FM2 flashbacks.
