Alf Bentley Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 If accurate, interesting to hear that City are ready to let Kisnorbo go in January. Hopefully one thing this means is that they're Tunchev isn't about to be lured to a higher-ranked club. I know he's not been here long, but that would be a concern to me, as he is certainly good enough to be an asset to a top Championship or struggling Premier League side - and he's got his international career to think of, though he's still been getting selected for Bulgaria so far. Can't imagine that he'd want to stay longer than 1 season max in the third tier, but hopefully he's reckoning on 1 yr and Championship football with LCFC next season... Michael Morrison: This bloke isn't getting enough credit, I reckon. Sure, he's not the finished article (needs to get tighter to tricky attackers; distribution a bit erratic), but he shows real promise: dominant in the air, strong, good positional sense, decent tackler, reasonable pace - and even showed decent distribution and skill on the ball when slotting in at right back the other week. He's also responded well to getting dropped and not let it affect his confidence. Centre backs generally don't peak till late 20s and the bloke is only 20 and has jumped up 2 levels from non-league. At the moment, he's probably a good L1 centre back, not quite good enough for Championship...but if he's able to learn (and he's got good teachers in Pearson and Tunchev), he could even be a future Premiership player. That said, I'd still keep Kisnorbo (if he can get fit) for now. He frustrates with his tendency to lose possession by hoofing, but is still good at defending - and scores a few from set pieces (an area that we're disappointingly lacking in, so far)... Hobbs seems a bit lacking in physical robustness to me, and a bit erratic on crosses/positioning, so wouldn't want to rely on him too much (though he's young, too, and might turn out good eventually)

Zingari Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 I really hope Kissa stays , I still think he is a great asset

I think he's turning into one of the bargains of the year and don't understand the criticism that's been thrown at him during player rating threads. For a 20 year old, he shows a lot of promise and is proving a rock at the back.
Unabomber Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Just watched Tunchev's video on World, what a guy very professional and says he isn't doing that well and can get better. Imagine how good he will be when he is at the very top of his game.

Fatbloke Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Let Paddy go, his re introduction to the side led to a downturn in our form and we conceded too many goals, he is ready for a fresh challenge and we could use the dosh !
lildave3 Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Think you're pretty much spot on about Morrison.
Bert Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 If Kisnorbo left it wouldn't stop Tunchev leaving too, hes not had a great season though. Still been our best defender! His English is quite good considering!

CosbehFox Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 My brother bumped into the Tunch today on Humberstone Gate with my Mum. Reckons he had the look of Nico Belic off GTA, his partner was preggers as well he says. Looked very happy. I beginning to love Tunch.

Lovejoy Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 I've said from the start that Morrison is imo very good in this division, and I believe can progress (hopefully with LCFC) throughout the levels maybe all the way to the Prem. And as for Tunchev, well the guys a class apart... Honestly regarding Kissa; I've thought for a couple of years now he's not actually that good, get rid imo, he's a liability, and Hobbs is better. His shite distribution will not do, especially now we have better options!
Daggers Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 what was tunchev doing with your mum? More pressing - why's his mother a bloke?
Asha Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Considering we'll get nothing for Kissa in the summer, he's the player I would like to see flogged in January. I can't see him in particular being crucial to our promotion battle as Fryatt would be. A Tunchev-Morrison partnership is definately the future.
Thracian Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 If heart and spirit were enough to make a footballer Kisnorbo would be tops but they aren't. It's no use winning the ball heroically then giving it away like a philanthropist. Not that I'm convinced that Morrison's distribution is much better. Defenders have to be able to pass. All of em.

davieG Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 Perhaps we should replace we're the left/right side song with Pass the ball to the left hand side / right hand side (to the the tune of Pass the Duchy (sp))
Thracian Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 it doesn't sound like much to ask for does it? The main reason I rate young reserve defender Lee Cox is that, while being hard and fearless, when he gets the ball he gets his head up and looks comfortable moving it on. If he's got a fault it is being inclined towards one extra touch. But that's got nothing to do with technique and is a problem he can easily improve on. Cox could well end up as our regular right-back and I see no reason he shouldn't be on the bench even now because he is quite a versatile player and well able to cover several positions. Whether he's quite quite quick enough for the first team I don't know but that will possibly be less apparent as his ability to read the game improves - and it doesn't seem bad even now.

Lets hope not. If he gets a chance.
Thracian Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 ufortunately he may be less calm in first team football. Lets hope not. If he gets a chance. You can never be certain but one of the noticeable qualities about Cox is that he seems to respond well to a challenge and to big games. Indeed, he was a giant in the Academy play-off final at Sunderland, and the same applied against the highly talented youngsters of Crystal Palace in the FA Youth Cup last season. He doesn't strike me as the panicky kind. What you see is what you get with Lee. He works hard, plays hard and keeps it simple. Like you say though, he needs his chance and he needs to take it.
Daggers Posted 6 December 2008 Posted 6 December 2008 And as for Tunchev, well the guys a class apart...
