demon_dog Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Wish they'd waited until after playing us before getting rid of McAllister. We all know that teams tend to raise their game to impress any new manager. Still, if they are managerless when they play us, they may hopefully be even more clueless they they seem to be at the present time. On an aside, Sky have named the poison dwarf, (Dennis Wise) as favourite to get the job. It would be good if we could beat them 4 - 0 for his first game in charge.
Daggers Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 I bet Sheehan gets sent off. I hope Sheehan gets sent off.
Nick Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Gus Poyet to take charge do you reckon? I understand he's back there? Yep and was at the Leic game yesterday at the walkers.
Tommeh Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Couldn't really get annoyed about it anyways. For me, the journey's part of the day but if your journey involves being sat down on a seat like a lemon with young kids at the back singing right side, left side, fantastists to your left who claim they've been every away game since time dot and the dafty to the right who says he can do better than Howard. Then FT isn't for me. Bang on. Relyed on it a lot through the 2004/06 seasons but never again. If I was ever desperate then it'd be supporters club coaches. Also: If anyone sings "you're not famous anymore" I'll happily chin them
leedslad Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Yep and was at the Leic game yesterday at the walkers. His ability to be in two places at the same time is quite impressive. Might just be what we need to turn our form around- he could play and manage us. He was at the MK Dons game with Bates yesterday. I don't want him- we've tried with unexperienced managers and they haven't worked.
Corky Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 I have doubts about this one- yesterday's performance was excellent against a very good League 1 side and now we face a team in freefall who can't buy a win and have lost their manager. On paper it looks a banker away win, but we know football, and Leicester City, doesn't work like that. If we are professional we should get the three points, but I can see Leeds being really up for this match.
lavrentis Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Is it safe to say this game is irrelevant to our promotion hopes?
Maybes Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Is it safe to say this game is irrelevant to our promotion hopes? No? There are 3 points to be had!
lavrentis Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 No? There are 3 points to be had! I mean like, everyone was banging on about Leeds being up for automatic but they are not so it's just being viewed as another game. Hard to explain...
Father Ted Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 I mean like, everyone was banging on about Leeds being up for automatic but they are not so it's just being viewed as another game. Hard to explain... I get you. So your basically saying it's like playing Leyton Orient rather than MK Dons or Millwall?
lavrentis Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 I get you. So your basically saying it's like playing Leyton Orient rather than MK Dons or Millwall? Yeah, but it just seems weird as Leeds were being tipped for automatic promotion.
Father Ted Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Yeah, but it just seems weird as Leeds were being tipped for automatic promotion. If we win we can pretty much cross Leeds off for automatic promotion.
syston_fox Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 If we win we can pretty much cross Leeds off for automatic promotion. Believe that for a second and you're a fool. We're not even half way through the season yet!
lavrentis Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Believe that for a second and you're a fool. We're not even half way through the season yet! To be fair, they have alot of catching up to do.
Father Ted Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Believe that for a second and you're a fool. We're not even half way through the season yet! 18 points off the leaders and potentially 14 off 2nd place. It's not looking good for Leeds.
Kilworthfox Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 18 points off the leaders and potentially 14 off 2nd place. It's not looking good for Leeds. Don't get me started I have this awful bleading sensation in my chest
Guest Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 No, it isn't looking good, but all that will have happened is we've finished the first half of the season top. A reversal of fortunes may be unthinkable, but shouldn't be written off. I know this might seem negative, but I will start to feel more confident of our chances if the table was like this at Easter.
syston_fox Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 To be fair, they have alot of catching up to do. Yeah but dont forget how quickly they shot up the table last season after starting on minus 15. They must have been up and around the play off places by December. Looong way to go yet but I'm glad we're in our position rather than theres.
Corky Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 If we win we can pretty much cross Leeds off for automatic promotion. Believe me, I'll only write them off when it's mathematically impossible for them to achieve it. They've got a lot of ground to make up, but if we are complacent in thinking they aren't a threat, it could easily turn round and hit us smack in the face.
Fox in a Box Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Gary Macs Been sacked therefore a point would be good enough, 3 would be raping them!
Rich Fox Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 As Syston said, it's what you make of the journey that makes the difference. We are using FT purely because it is so much cheaper than driving there. God what a fuss about the bus journey surely driving is not that much fun nowdays my experience of the supporters club bus was dire, god they are a boring lot is that cliff ginetta still alive. Ive not been on foxes travel but I hope there are a few window lickers and bums out of the back windows as long as its fairly calm.
MC Prussian Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Let's not get carried away - still a massive game and underestimating Leeds at this point would be a big mistake. The players wanted McAllister out and now that they've got what they wanted, I hope they prove that they can live up to their assumed powers. Or else they'll be up for a thrashing, we're in such a good form and on a run unheard of in Leicester terms that I'm already thinking extremes again. In any case, get behind the team, make some noise and enjoy the Friday kickoff!!!
SantiagoFox Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 The big question for me - which pubs will be open in Leeds on Boxing Day?
Thracian Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 There is no reason we shouldn't react properly to the atmosphere of a full house and treat the game as yet another opportunity to take three points and hopefully put still more distance between ourselves and others in the chasing pack. We've got plenty of players who have experience of matches with atmosphere and, even if Leeds go ahead, they will have the tactical quandry of whether to keep attacking or to try to hold what they've got. Whatever they decide they've got to stop us scoring and only three teams have managed that against us in the League and only one in the last 12 League matches. I mentioned at the beginning of the season that this would be a major factor. We don't just have goals in the starting X1 but with the likes of Gradel, Dickov, Adams, Campbell available for the bench then I honestly believe that Leeds and anyone else would have to play at the top of their form to keep us out for 90 minutes. If they take a positive approach we've, first and foremost, got a resilient defence but also have just the players who can capitalise on the rebound - players who are confident, fit, on good form, who are used to playing together and who are well used to winning away having lost only once on their travels so far in Division One. Our manager takes nothing for granted and I don't think our players do either - and certainly not against Leeds. Indeed we've had decent results against eight of the top 10 sides beneath us and have suffered defeat against only one. Leeds will doubtless be fired up but we've coped with fired up teams before by closing them down quickly and denying them time and space. Leeds will be under massive pressure because of their situation and the fact that defeat will deal a major blow to their chances of even finishing in the play-offs never mind anything better. It wouldn't surprise me though if Gradel came off the bench to play a significant part in this one. He's always struck me as a big match player. He will just love the atmosphere of a heaving Elland Road and the chance to write a bit of folklore for himself, given chance. It's a good run of results we have to protect as well and I cannot see us being very inclined to let Leeds bring that run to a halt. On many occasions a draw would be welcomed at Leeds but I really think we're good enough to win if we show confidence in ourselves and set out to do just that.
Rich Fox Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 The big question for me - which pubs will be open in Leeds on Boxing Day? I was hoping to go to the dry salters pub which is recommended for away fans not thought about them being closed on boxing day.
