Henderson

Gilbert

Tunchev

Hobbs (player of the year in a Championship side last season)

Kisnorbo

Berner

Oakley

Davies

King

Fryatt

Howard

Dyer

Morrison, Martin and Mattock aren't too far away either. Wesolowski might be a contender, if he can ever stay fit.

Just a bit of thought before we clash with the minnows on Boxing Day.

Opposition fans [Huddersfield & Wednesday fans in particular] keep telling me the reason we are flying high is because our squad is full of Championship players. If you actually look through our squad, you'll find that it is a false statement. What do Wednesday fans know about our squad anyway, I will never know.

Oakley

Tunchev

Gilbert

Mattock

Hobbs

And please don't argue with me about Fryatt. And if anybody mentions Howard, I'll send a suicide bomber to their house.

So yeah, 5 Championship standard players. We don't know what Lloyd Dyer could do up there, and the jury is still out on Andy King whether he can hack it at a higher level.

NUMEROUS issues with this!

1) Hobbs = possibly good enough for Championship, certainly not one of our best 5 players.

2) I don't care what anyone says. Kisnorbo was player of the season (or possibly came second) last year. And was up there the year before. He is DEFINITELY good enough for the Championship.

3) Fryatt has 18 this season. He is good enough for the Championship - he just needs fitness and confidence, both of which he has at the moment. So he is good enough for the Championship.

4) Henderson nearly kept us up last year with some of his saves. Yes he's dodgy on crosses but you don't see many keepers who are particularly good on crosses in the Champ.

5) Howard has been brilliant at times this year and has scored goals over 2 seasons in the champ, firstly for Luton, then Derby.

6) Lloyd has as good a chance as anybody at being able to play at that level based on his early season form.

7) Stephen Clemence. Championship promotion winning captain 2 years ago. Been plagued by injury since. He's in when fully fit.

The fact that we are knobbing all over this division would suggest that our players are too good for it, and, by definition, therefore of Championship quality

2) I don't care what anyone says. Kisnorbo was player of the season (or possibly came second) last year. And was up there the year before. He is DEFINITELY good enough for the Championship. Kissa was our best player for 2 years.

Agree he'll be a quality player in Championship now he as confidence and service. new player this year, looking forward to next...

4) Henderson nearly kept us up last year with some of his saves. Yes he's dodgy on crosses but you don't see many keepers who are particularly good on crosses in the Champ. Maybe, still think we could do with a better keeper than Hendo and Martin

5) Howard has been brilliant at times this year and has scored goals over 2 seasons in the champ, firstly for Luton, then Derby. Loving Howard this season. Wins everything in the air. Is quality.

6) Lloyd has as good a chance as anybody at being able to play at that level based on his early season form. Good start to the season. Has to get in to games more but certainly can be a Championship player.

7) Stephen Clemence. Championship promotion winning captain 2 years ago. Been plagued by injury since. He's in when fully fit. Who knows about Clemence? Bad injury so may never play again. Could come back and be influential. Time will tell

Nottingham Forest, anybody?

Weren't they too good for League 1 last season?

Did that directly correlate to a competitive Championship side?

In the relegation zone and 35 points off the pace at Christmas.

As for Kisnorbo, he was the most fouled player in the Championship last year and the year before that. That is only because he fouls the other player only to make it look as if he's been fouled. 9/10 this works but when it doesn't it costs us dearly, remember Sheff Utd last year?? BTW, I have tried this in matches and it's quite a useful trick :P

But on the whole, I see Hobbs as a better player than good old servant Kisnorbo.

Oh yes that one where he didn't actually touch Billy Sharp?

No they weren't. They only just pipped Donny and Carlisle to 2nd and were 10 points off 1st place. And there best player fcuked off in the summer anyway.

I don't think it is, I think that jury came back and gave its verdict after Kingy had the measure of the England U21 starlets and then some. Tagging on his ability to gift us match-winning goals, he is more than able to perform at Championship level.

The only question over him will be for how long and how much he continues developing.

Didn't they only manage the automatic places because of Leeds' points deduction?

Oakley spent most of career in the top flight, and has captained every club (all 3 of them) he has been at.

Steve Howard had 1 [one] splendid season with the sheeps in the Championship

You make the call....

He Had A Good Spell With Luton!

Well he had better pull his finger out then as on current performances he'll be lucky to progress further than this league. Tunchev is carrying him at the moment. Watch any game and most of our problems are because of our own errors at the back... mostly by Hobbs.

Hey Babylon,

I have never been a fan of Hobbs and think he makes far to many mistakes, but have to admit against Peterborough

he played well. Not sure if it was a flash in the pan though. Will see over the next few weeks I guess.

Hobbs cant hit a cows arse with a banjo.

How he got a contract at Liverpool i will never know.

Powell and Berner are both better than Mattock IMO.

He doesn't have to. DJ on the other hand...

End of the day, if the season ended now and we were promoted everyone would be chucking names in the hat for who we could sign, and I expect names for every position could come up.

We've got a couple of loanees, that will need to be replaced or purchased depending on Pearson's thoughts on them. But I wouldn't kid myself in thinking that we wouldn't need a couple of players to compete in the Championship, the squad is a bit threadbare in quality dept.

Thats who i think are championship quality

I dont think we should be looking at Championship quality players. A few years ago the premership had all the quality & money whilst the rest of the football league on its own, Over the past few seasons the gap between Premership & Championship has become even closer therfor leaving L1 behind and creating the gap between the Championship & League 1.So i think the question should be Which Premership Standard players do we have? The Anwser is probley 2.....Tunch(who knows) & Oakley. The simple fact is that out of all our players very few have the Standard to be playing Championship football. As said in above posts......Were no diffrent to forest last season,we will be linked to every player in every posistion because ours squad isnt good enough to compete with the likes of the top half of the championship. Milan & NP will need to get the cheque book out at the end of the season without adoubt.
