CosbehFox Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 I agree it's likely we'll sign him til the end of the season (if we can? loan rules are confusing) We can't - when signing Cleverley we reached our maximum of long term loans.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 You mean us sending him out on loan to get fit and play some regular football after 2 years of injuries? Yeah terrible treatment. Yes I mean not playing for two years and not generally caring until he went out on loan. Haven't you got your own forum to be bothering?
davieG Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 We can't - when signing Cleverley we reached our maximum of long term loans. Have the rules change or am I misinterpreting this? Since season 2005/06 Football League clubs have been subject to FIFA's registration and transfer rules which included the introduction of transfer windows between the end of the season and 31st August and during the month of January, i.e. 1st to 31st. The rules affected both permanent and loan transfers and in order to comply The League amended its own regulations governing this area. Previous restrictions on the length of loan periods were altered to allow players of all ages to be loaned from window to window for either a half or full season. Clubs are allowed to register a maximum of eight such signings, four under 23 and a further four over 23 in any season, with only two of the latter age group being allowed to come from the same club. Additionally, The League, with the approval of the FA, made provision for clubs to take players on short term emergency loans during the closed periods in exceptional circumstances – there is no limit on the number of emergency loans. As in previous seasons, no more than five loan players will be allowed to feature in a club's 16 man matchday squad. The transfer deadline of the fourth Thursday in March in each season still applies. The regulations are contained in The League's Handbook which is available to purchase from this office. Please advise if you would like to receive a publications pro-forma for the 2007/08 season. Thank you for contacting The Football League. He wasn't playing because he was injured. It's not a case of Wolves not caring about him. He's been unavailable for selection, not overlooked. He was sent out on loan to get match-fit once he was back from injury.
Alexikokopops Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Yes I mean not playing for two years and not generally caring until he went out on loan. Haven't you got your own forum to be bothering? You really do get raging quite easily! The Bear has been nothing but civil and added an alternative view to the Davies threads which would be sadly lacking otherwise, as well as adding news articles on him from teh Wolves camp. The reason he hasn't been playing is because he's been injured for two years. He was sent out on loan to us to regain match fitness. I've said it before and I've said it again, chill your beans!

The Football League www.football-league.co.uk If your info is correct - and it looks pretty credible - then you are indeed misinterpreting the rules, surely? If we're only allowed four under-23 loan signings per season, then Cleverley is the fourth, after Gilbert, Hobbs and Martin. So, as Davies is also under 23, then he couldn't come on loan till the end of the season, unless this was done via repeated "emergency loans" (anyone know how the rules work for that?). Wouldn't stop us signing him on a permanent deal, of course! The rule that only 5 loanees are allowed per 16-man squad would also make it pointless to make any further loan signings, unless Davies does go back to Wolves in early Feb...though an over-23 loanee (e.g. striker for the bench) might be worth it if Davies was heading west again in Feb...

CosbehFox Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Have the rules change or am I misinterpreting this? I forgot to add the Under 23 bit.

JoeyB Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 but by that logic, wouldn't cleverley have been the fifth - gilbert hobbs martin davies...and cleverley? Davies has been short term where as Cleverley is long term
Alexikokopops Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 but by that logic, wouldn't cleverley have been the fifth - gilbert hobbs martin davies...and cleverley? The quoted refer to half- or season-long loans. Davies is only short term, so Cleverley is the fourth long-term one we've had this season.
davieG Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Which all means that Davies is going back or we need to sign him permanently as I doubt anyone would be happy for continuing 1 month loans even if it is legal to do so.
Lillehamring Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 is the length of davies' loan actually confirmed at just a month, or is this just paper talk, i mean is there any chance we agreed to i tbeing (half) season long?
JoeyB Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 is the length of davies' loan actually confirmed at just a month, or is this just paper talk, i mean is there any chance we agreed to i tbeing (half) season long? seeing as we have brought tom in we can't get davies on loan for the rest of the season either buy or bust.
Samilktray Posted 23 January 2009 Posted 23 January 2009 Knowitall do the players read this board? The club do.

If it was then we'd have five players under-23 on half season-/season-long loans and thus would be breaking FA regulations so I hope not.
