maddog Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Do agree with you about not getting too excited about Ashley Chambers he came on when the game was over and ran around a lot...it is a knee jerk reaction by a lot of people saying throw him in the teami hate the arrogance though we are not promoted yet I really hate all this talk of record points etc theres a lot of football to play plenty of teams have slipped from the top in the past Yeovil should be taken as seriously as every other team We would have to lose at least 10 of our remaining games to totally fook this up, i just can't see it. With NP at the club, im so positive, expect to win every match. The FACT is Yeovil were embarassing at the Walkers, and they don't have any players up to the standard of our players. Our squad is way too good for this League.
Uncle Monty Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Just watched the highlights and he looked pretty sharp
Ultra Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 The FACT is Yeovil were embarassing at the Walkers, and they don't have any players up to the standard of our players. Isn't Luke Rodgers a proven League 1 goalscorer? Our squad is way too good for this League. Isn't this what Leeds fans were saying a couple of months ago, before Beckford got injured and they slipped into freefall?
Corky Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 I never said Yeovil were shit I just said they wont be able to hurt us, they have no quality, dangerous, flair, surprising, classy players to hurt us. Its like when u play a tennis match, sometimes you play oppenents who wont be able to 'hurt' you. So just hang on in there and you should end up winning, their not going to be able to blast winners past you. And for the record i have never lost to a player with a similar ability to Yeovil football team in tennis terms I never said Yeovil were shit. So you ARE saying they're shit

If Fryatt's still injured next week, I know who I'd want to start alongside Howard.

Personally I wish you'd be a bit more respectful of opposition. Not saying that you shouldn't be confident, but to EXPECT to win every match is absolutely the wrong attitude.
sdb Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 looked like he changed the game a bit so i don't see why we shouldn't keep him on the bench as an option, especially if our next opponents are weaker then palace. leaving him out the squad would send a bit of a poor message to the rest of the fringe players at the club. he deserves another opportunity on merit

And whats his finishing like? we dont really know, i'd go with the experience of a man who knows where the goal is looked like he changed the game a bit so i don't see why we shouldn't keep him on the bench as an option, especially if our next opponents are weaker then palace. leaving him out the squad would send a bit of a poor message to the rest of the fringe players at the club. he deserves another opportunity on merit I'd probably put him in the squad but he really didn't change the game - the game was dead by the time he came on its not as if we created loads of chances when he came on
BoneDog Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 Now is definately the time to give Chambers the experience he needs. Then come the end of the season he will have learned enough to become a regular in our re-introduction to the Championship. I am all for giving Ashley alot of minutes on the pitch for the rest of the season
Flynny Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 The question isn't whether Chambers changed the game - he only changed it by being confident and looking like he cared. Dickov was stood on the right wing while Howard was winning headers slightly on the left of centre, he didn't even look like he was trying to play off Howard in the slightest - yet we kept using Howard and didn't sub Dickov for ages Being charitable, perhaps he'd have been better without Howard if we'd played some balls through to him, but even if thats the case the question still stands - what was he actually doing in the meantime?
Thracian Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 Chambers should start on the bench and be built up to Division One football gradually. Anything else is unnecessarily risky at this stage. Both to him and us.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 Maddog calling other people knee-jerk.
clazkel Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 I think you're right. Everyone who went said that Chambers played well. Chambers did play really well, changed the game, we never looked like scoring with Dickov up front,i think if we played another 5 minutes there was a good chance that we would've equalised. I would like to see Chambers and Fryatt up front, as ive said may times before. Howard is doing well but if we attacked defences with pace i think we would tear them apart in this league.

Can be said we already are.
Number 6 Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 Whenever I have seen Dickov this season he, for me, has offered nothing to the team. No pain for defenders as he is now too slow. No setting up play. No goals. No assists. I really don't know why he is in the team at all. Seems he is there to shout at officials. Am all for Chambers getting a chance.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 It's all been said before about Chambers. He's quick, takes people on, has an eye for goal and can make a pass. Indeed, he shown most everything you need to be a useful footballer apart from durability. Coming on for 20 minute cameos with damn all to lose is one thing but stringing together a series of solid performances is quite something else. We all live in hope, of course, but I'll be convinced when I see it happen. This is true, which is why he should be given a chance. Until then we'll never know. He shouldn't start ahead of Fryatt or Howard, but I reckon a regular from the bench could improve him.
maddog Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 So you ARE saying they're shit Theres a difference between saying their shit and saying we are good. Yeovil are a good football club, think they were in the conference not long ago and now they are up to League one. They are not shit at all. We just have much better facilities/players than them, and should easily win the game. Compared to us they are shit, but they aren't shit on their own

clazkel Posted 16 January 2009 Posted 16 January 2009 Can be said we already are. Yeah i know, but i think we could score alot more, with more pace up front
