Father Ted Posted 17 February 2009 Posted 17 February 2009 Albert:Like I said, you have to factor in both form and experience. Hook still makes schoolboy errors, I'd personally draft him in for the Italy game to give him some game time but I doubt we will - it's too tight. Hook will be world class, absolutely but he's still got most of his career ahead of him. Right now Wales need solidarity and a bit of consistency and we draw that from Jones. Last major contribution of Hooks' was to throw away a memorable victory against the Saffers with a wreckless, rookie-mistake pass. Ted: I'm not really sure what it is you don't get. I'm pretty sure you're arguing for the sakes of it. It's purely objective so I can't really give you evidence to show you why you're chatting bollocks - but the fact that nearly the entire rugby world is on my side sort of speaks volumes. Ellis is ill-disciplined, overly adventurous, injury prone, and prone to lapses in concentration. Phillips is almost as good a footballer, is more consistent, slightly less wreckless, stronger, far better defensively, probably almost as fast but far more powerful in his running and most importantly is on MUCH better form. It isn't Welsh bias at all, I'm a Scarlets fan with a soft spot for the Tigers - I quite like Ellis and Phillips plays for the enemy! The fact of the matter is Phillips > Ellis, especially on current form. The end. Fair enough because I can't be arsed to continue arguing on this matter.
Uncle Albert Posted 17 February 2009 Posted 17 February 2009 I know it has nothing to do with The Six Nations but I see Haskell, Flutey and someone else are off the Stade De France next season. Time for English Rugby to sod the wage cap off.

Finnegan Posted 17 February 2009 Author Posted 17 February 2009 Fair enough because I can't be arsed to continue arguing on this matter. Good, because you were wrong.

Time for English Rugby to sod the wage cap off. Wasps haven't got a lot of dough atm. They want a bigger ground than they are currently playing and see the likes of Cipirani has bigger business than Flutey. Tigers keep the majority of their English fellas.
Father Ted Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Wasps have been struggling this year but if Cipriani was to go aswell then they would be well and truly done over.
Finnegan Posted 18 February 2009 Author Posted 18 February 2009 Wasps have been struggling this year but if Cipriani was to go aswell then they would be well and truly done over. Isn't really funny. I don't like Wasps but this is really bad news for everyone, to be honest. I don't want to see any club struggling in rugby - it isn't like football where there'll always be money to keep things ticking over in one way or another.
Finnegan Posted 25 February 2009 Author Posted 25 February 2009 Hahahahaha. He's so cheeky! Love Shane. "I've got another one, anyway!" when talking about his ankle injuries. Shitting it for Friday. This is more a "Grand Slam decider" than the Ireland game, really, this will be far harder. Or should be. Any of you boys think you can spring a surprise in Ireland? If you perform like last time out I really don't see why not. I was tempted to say you'd be doing us a favour and I suppose you may, but win that one and you'll be very serious contenders for the Championship yourselves.

As long as we dont play with 14 men again for 60 mins <_< we have a chance

dandannieldanok Posted 27 February 2009 Posted 27 February 2009 France were awesome in the second half, deserved win.
Finnegan Posted 27 February 2009 Author Posted 27 February 2009 Worst performance I've seen in years. Utter, utter toss. So many needless errors, so much indiscipline. Livid. Really thought Martyn Williams was going to nick it at the death but it would have been bittersweet.
Finnegan Posted 28 February 2009 Author Posted 28 February 2009 Have calmed down a lot but I'm still largely sticking with my assessment. We absolutely bottled this. I think I've been pretty level headed all along and shirked off the 'favourites' mantle, I've not gone along with the Guscotts of this world raving about how undefeatable Wales are. I know it was all media hype and we're a long, long way off the finished product. If I've any fault of Gatland really I think it's that he just tried to get a little bit too involved in the mind games. I'm not saying he believes our hype as I think he's quite professional and quite honest and I think he'll have the players in line. Today it didn't look so much like we were arrogant or complacent but quite the opposite. We got nervous and choked. Credit must be given to a dangerous looking French side for doing what England tried but ultimately failed to do last time out - rattle us. Got in our faces, didn't let us build momentum and really played like the home side. Goes to show that when properly fronted we still don't quite yet have the experience or guile to keep points ticking over in the same way England used to with their WC winning side. Shame. I hope we can still go on and win the Championship - but the gloss has definitely gone and the momentum and confidence will certainly be with Ireland now. Tomorrow should be very interesting - I'm not sure who to cheer for!
dandannieldanok Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Shite game, England's indiscipline cannot continue or else we'll get thrashed by a reinvigorated France and possibly embarrassed by the Scots. I cannot believe Johnson has yet to address this, although given his reaction to Care's petulant and idiotic sin-binning, maybe he'll get stuck into them. Ireland were awful in large patches, they edged the breakdown battle and had O'Driscoll but other than that were as poor as England, and I personally would much rather see France or Wales win the tournament than them. Have the commentators fallen out? Both were terribly biased.
Ultra Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 England were appalling. It defies belief we only lost by ONE point. Who knows what might happen if we EVER manage to play the whole game with a full side? Whatever Johnno is telling the players about discipline, it's not working, although his own record as a player was hardly unblemished and this may play on the minds of the squad. The negative tactics don't help either, though. We desperately need someone to inject a little imagination and creativity into the side.
Webbo Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Sorry if this has already been posted. Raises an interesting point. Ball hits overhead camera.
Finnegan Posted 1 March 2009 Author Posted 1 March 2009 So basically we need to thrash Italy and beat the Irish. Doable. Fucking hell. She's a brave lass. I wouldn't want to be in that England dressing room afterwards.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_unio...ish/7933459.stm Glad to see Croft get a chance, should add a dynamism that's been missing from England's back row so far. Not entirely sure about the other two changes, don't really think going back to the likes of Shaw is going to aid progress. Also surprised to see Sackey dropped instead of Cueto. Neither has done much wrong (or right) but for me Sackey has looked the slightly more dangerous player. Really looking forward to this game, hopefully we counter France by playing similar free-flowing rugby as themselves. As long as we don't get another bloody yellow card then I'll be satisfied.
Finnegan Posted 15 March 2009 Author Posted 15 March 2009 I hate to say it - but come on England. Great start.
