dandannieldanok Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Because Man Utd players have never surrounded a referee to try and get a player booked have they Alex.......... I really do miss the good old days when everyone wanted to see Man Utd and their shit glory supporting fans lose all the time. No idea why people stopped wanting them to lose..
The Doctor Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 To be fair, even with that borne in mind, wanting England's best player to get injured just so they have less of a shout in South Africa is more than a little childish. No wonder Scotland do poorly if their fans derive more pleasure from English failure than Scottish success. We do poorly because our team is full of players that would struggle in any league more competitive than the old firm dominated SPL (evidence - Robbie Neilson was captain of hearts, the only team in recent years that have looked like breaking up the 1,2 old firm finish. Now he plays in the championship and seems to be quite poor). i'm only interested in seeing england fail because (unless you count beating the french and being within 1 game of qualifying for Euro 2008) there hasn't been any scottish success that i'm old enough to recall. Edit: Oh and also more talent than the SPL not just competitiveness
Darkzzz_ Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 If Barca win it this year it will be 6 spanish team champions league winners out of the last 13 seasons. Beats any other nation easily.. Very, although I must admit I have enjoyed an exciting Serie A more than La Liga this season and I am hoping the other teams in La Liga can make more of a go of it next time round as it has been a two horse race. It is a shame to see those that can't/didn't give Barcelona credit last night not giving Bayern credit now.
lcfc_jme Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Ferguson really is a bitter old cunt. If it's two bookable offences it's two bookable offences. The lad is a professional footballer and should know better, he got himself sent off, end of. Glad to see Yanited go out, it really is enjoyable when they and their glory-hunting mongoloids taste failure.
Joe. Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 No idea why people stopped wanting them to lose.. Chelsea came along...
lou Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 I dunno why people are getting on LargeAls case.... the English fans are just the same about Scottish football. Swings and roundabouts

Utd must be kicking themselves, messed up the 1st leg and then to mess the the 2nd leg up too, and avoiding inter or barca in the semi's. Dear oh dear.
BoneDog Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Haha anyone hear this Brummie with the really high pitched voice on Talksport now? He's fumin! Goes well high pitched when he gets emotional

This rates alongside Porto 2004 as another brilliant CL exit for Man Utd at Old Trafford, really enjoyed that night, really enjoyed tonight. Roll on the semi-finals.
purpleronnie Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 He'll be back. Maybe in the europa league thread.
C-man Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Cant stand Germany or anything connected with it. Ah well, two world wars and all that, ay.
Darkzzz_ Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Ah well, two world wars and all that, ay. Ha ha ha ha.

I dunno why people are getting on LargeAls case.... the English fans are just the same about Scottish football. Swings and roundabouts thanks.
Samilktray Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Ah well, two world wars and all that, ay. Just the sunbed poaching that gets me.
BoneDog Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 I dunno why people are getting on LargeAls case.... the English fans are just the same about Scottish football. Swings and roundabouts Exactly, England/Scotland have a good healthy rivalry in football and it'll always be the same. I love all 5 home nations and want to see them all do well, but you canna beat a bit of Nation banter.
StanSP Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 the first one was a bit harsh when you consider van bommel had just taken him out and got away with it when that wasjust as bad a offence as the one Rafael was booked for. thanks. He still reacted to it though didn't he? In a petulant manner, which will get you sent off. And Fergie - what a tool. Never seen any Man Utd players rush to the referee have we? Fletcher is always at that, amongst others (he's just the first that comes to mind). Robben does it again though. Congratulations to Bayern.

Valencia who are the closest team are operating with 1/4 of the budget of the other two... It's just not realistic if you ask me. I think Sevilla, Valencia and Villarreal have done absolutely brilliantly this last decade unearthing some fantastic players and pushing the big two as much as they can.
BoneDog Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 United's second goal tonight was pretty special after seeing it again. I didn't give it any recognition first time round 'cos I couldn't take watching it.
StanSP Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 United's second goal tonight was pretty special after seeing it again. I didn't give it any recognition first time round 'cos I couldn't take watching it. Similar to Joe Cole's against United at the weekend. Both magical goals.

Glad to see Yanited go out, it really is enjoyable when they and their glory-hunting mongoloids taste failure. Spot on! Even better to rub it in with some quotes like "I've always supported Bayern; no I'm not from Germany, but my dad went there once; I try to get to some of their games" etc.

I said I would like to see them compete, that is what I would like to see but I know it is unrealistic to expect them to do that just purely on the reason you said. The top two swallow the cash and I agree with you, teams such as Villarreal have done amazingly well to compete with the top two. I have just enjoyed Serie A more this season and that is probably due to the fact that it has got a little more exciting towards the end of the season. I still love La Liga though of course. I also still love Fergie, I always like to see United do well but Bayern deserved to go through tonight.
Fosse Fox Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Good to see the mind games of the 'Bungmeister' rebound on him. BEFORE the game he was saying that Rooney was fully fit and that they were not taking any risk in playing him. AFTER the match he said that they took a risk with him. And that tells us quite a lot; like he was putting all his rotten eggs in the Champions League basket. He should have kept quiet about Rooney and then had him on the bench as a last gasp option. By starting with Rooney, Ferguson overplayed his hand. Once Rooney left the pitch the confidence visibly drained from the rest of the team (even more so then after the sending off). Ferguson's response to the second Bayern goal was even worse than his charges who just sat back and let Munich tear them apart. And all those 'passionate' Traffordians bedecked in the colours of Newton Heath (nice reverse psychological marketing ploy Mr Glazer ) could do was to munch their nails in response to the Munchen roar. To top it all off some tasteless 'cultural' observations about the Germans from the blackest pot on the hob. PS Is it just me or is every Vidic 'challenge' simply GBH?
