Mee Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 You've still got man utd. The way my lucks going, i Man Utd will do it. (The reason for this is i just beat Notts County 5-0 as City on FM10, and i normally lose to them)
shen Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Fantastic match by Messi! It's a shame Arsenal had so many injuries though, as they might have given them a good game with Arshavin, Gallas and Cesc in the team. Then again, when Xavi and Messi are as imperious as they were today, few if any can stop them. Can Inter cause them some problems?

Barca had injuries too, it wouldn't have mattered on a day like today, the only team I believe who could have stopped Barca in this tournament would be Inter Milan. And it just so happens they now meet eachother. I actually for some reason wouldn't be surprised if Inter went through.

When players like Bojan, Keita, Marquez and Milito come in for the injured quartet, they don't even seem much weaker on paper. In contrast, Silvestre for Gallas and the light-weight Rosicky and Denilson for 'Captain Fab' and Song is striking. My point is just that most of Arsenal's key players were out, and their squad lacks quality to cope with that. Interesting that you think Inter pose the biggest threat. One thing is sure: Sneijder has to have two brilliant games if they want to progress. With their profligacy in front of goal and largely static style, they rely very much on Wesley to provide that spark. If Barca can keep him quiet I honestly don't see Inter posing problems whatsoever. Defensively I think you're right that Inter could with some luck stifle Barcelona's attack, but I just don't see where their goals are going to come from.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Come on Milan, stump up the cash for this little Argentinan - he'd surely want to join us, after all we are massive and a club going places. Either that or sign every close relation to him in the hope there's something in the genes.

Guest ttfn Posted 6 April 2010 Posted 6 April 2010 Arsenal were totally shit at the back. Messi was excellent, but his brilliance was exacerbated by some shocking defending.
shen Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 Etoo? Pandev? Milito? All fine strikers, no doubt. But having watched the games against CSKA and highlights from Serie A, they all too often have a static style of play. So often during the first leg they would have all the possession and there was just very little movement from any of them. Indeed, the times they threaten to open up teams is when Sneijder runs at players or makes good runs off the ball. Eto'o is a pale shadow of his former self and he doesn't pose anywhere near the same threat as when he was at Barca.
Darkzzz_ Posted 7 April 2010 Posted 7 April 2010 I'd still take a slim fat Ronaldo over the other Ronaldo any day.
Uncle Albert Posted 7 April 2010 Author Posted 7 April 2010 I'm not going to sit here saying Messi wasnt suprerb last night because he was but one thing I will say is, if you take Messi out of that team then Barca are an average side and they were playing an average Arsenal side last night. Ronaldo will score four on Saturday night!

Despite your attempts, you will not be able to pull Barcelona or Arsenal down to a stupefyingly low level as your beloved Liverpool to make you feel better about their current plight

Ok. So Fabregas, Gallas, Arshavin, Song, Van Persie and Campbell all werent missed? The replacements Denilson, Rosicky, Silvestre and Eboue were good enough? They were average. Take Messi out of that team and they are half as good.
Uncle Albert Posted 7 April 2010 Author Posted 7 April 2010 Rooney's starting. 8 days the country was worrying that he may be seriously injured, now he is starting against Bayern a week later. Come on Wazza, score four so then we can all talk about you being the best in the world.
