MC Prussian Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Got the result right in my prediction for today's game - but not the first scorer, meh. Glad to see us getting back to winning ways, but what else do you expect when the first plays the last in the table? Happy for both Oakley and Cleverley for getting back on the scoresheet. And Fryatt's about to take off in the leading scorer competition. Lambert couldn't keep up today.
fox123 Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Great result, nice to see us win at home after the draws - Well done lads.
Candidcamera Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 The two changes set our teams creative abilities free against a poor side. Well Done.
MC Prussian Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 The two changes set our teams creative abilities free against a poor side. Well Done. It proves that Gradel and Cleverley are both quality. And it's also a quality side with now 23 games unbeaten. Half a season. :w00t:
Tilley Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Well, I didn't think we would win by that amount, but Cheltenham were fucking shit, so not getting too carried away. Gradel & Cleverley in particular both had cracking games, good changes by Pearson. Nice to see us win, hopefully pick up another three points on the road Wednesday night. Oakley MOTM & Howard played well too, great header for his goal. Fair play to the Cheltenham fans, hope they bounce back up from League two.
Asha Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Loved my afternoon in K. Very good performance, with Cleverley and Oakley stand outs. Strikers took their chances, defence was solid. Perfect game.
Bert Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 We played well, albeit against a very poor Cheltenham side, in fairness to them, they set out as if they weren't going to sit back. After a scrappy first ten minutes in both halves, we fully controlled the game, but that's what the league leaders should do against the basement team. Everyone had a solid game, Oakley was probably our best player, with Gradel and Cleverley putting in two good performances as well. Maybe this was because they feel they had a point to prove. Some of our decisions could've been a bit better today would be my only moan. Still, a good performance, with 4 goals and a clean sheet at home is not to be grumbled at, whoever the opposition. If any Cheltenham fans are reading, you can be proud of your support, the few hundred of you that were there, were always trying to sing and have a good time, but when your team is that bad, that's all you can do really.
Joe. Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Can't complain with that at all, enjoyable game. It was just a case of simply outclassing a very poor Cheltenham side for 90 minutes, and it isn't really surprising that we've won this comfortably. It was nice to see good performances from Gradel and Cleverley on the wings, but in fairness Cheltenham's full backs were clearly awful. It's a vital win for us, a good one at that, and with the Dons dropping points it's even better.
C-man Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 The Cheltenham Conga was fantastic! Good game, good result and some nice football played by us. Can someone explain how an own goal can be ruled out for offside?
Pegosteve Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 The Cheltenham Conga was fantastic!Good game, good result and some nice football played by us. Can someone explain how an own goal can be ruled out for offside? Sounds interesting what happended there?
Maybes Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Loved todays game. We played slick football against a very poor cheltenham side (including Josh Low and Elvis Hammond ). Hats/shoes off to the 50 or so Cheltenham fans that were up for a laugh today with us city fans in L & K today. Love the witty banter flying between both sets of fans. My favourite from the Cheltenham fans: Que sera, sera whatever will be, will be we're going to shrewsbury que sera sera Oh and the Congo - Loved it.

Can someone explain how an own goal can be ruled out for offside? Howard was the one in the offside position, and if Howard hadn't had gone for the ball, the defender wouldn't have to had to intercept the ball.

True but on some days it can be so different. Anyway glad we got the win, and hope we follow it up with a win on Wednesday.

Full Praise for the Cheltenham fans, funny, friendly and light hearted. Loved the Congo and Shrewsbury Chant, Class. As for the game, fully enjoyable. Nice to see Cleverley on the score sheet, and NP getting involved with the fans again (Nigel, Nigel sort him out ! )
Daggers Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 "Dad, can we go by motorbike?" Today was the first time my lad sang songs and talked about the team as being 'we' and 'us' rather than Leicester. We sat in K-block near the top and the atmosphere was cracking in the first half. Come half-time, "Dad, can we go see Lisa and everyone else?" "But if we stay there we'll have to stand up for the rest of the match." "But I want to stand up!" As the fourth slammed in, while Cheltenham were doing the conga and starting the wave, he declared this to be his best match ever. On the way home I had to slam his thigh as I felt him go limp behind me - he'd been so excited about coming today, especially as we were taking the bike, he had got up at 5am. Maybe it wasn't the long day he'd had, maybe it wasn't the excitement that had started him drifting off to sleep on the back...maybe it was just that we were going past Coventry at the time? It was a dawn for the little man, it will be one of his earliest football memories, his best ever match and he got to see Elvis Hammond and Josh Low. The lucky bastard.
Pegosteve Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Good confidence win today well done. Based on points per game in last 6 matches if these are maintained over the rest of the season top 3 Leicester 95 Franchise 89 Peterboro 88 Think the franchise have to play catch up on games which will cause them problems they also have Millwall, Leeds, S****horpe and Oldham to play in those games, I fancy us and Peterboro. I think 9 or 10 points now will get promotion.
Webbo Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 It's just took me an hour and a half to get home, it only took me an hour at MK last week. Fooking eggchasers, thank fook we won't have this next season.

JoeyB Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 He added: "Lloyd's work-rate has been fantastic for the team and I think the rest will do him good because when he comes back into the team, and he will do at some point, he will be refreshed and ready to go again. That's good for us and not so good for the opposition."Lloyd has been a very good performer for us this year, but I just felt that we needed to freshen it up with regards to how we played. "Max gave us a different dimension because he is a right footer playing on the left hand side, which causes the opposition a different problem." Full Article Sounds to me like Nige is trying not to big up Max's performance, he had the RB everytime. But i think that Dyer will defo start on weds.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Decent performance, but Cheltenham were absolutely terrible.
lildave3 Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Fantastic. Loved every minute of that, very enjoyable. Max Gradel made a difference to the team, looked alot fresher than Lloyd and injected some life into us. I've not rated Cleverly lately but he had a much better game today, capped off with a good goal (although he should have had 2 ) The fourth goal was just a joy to watch, it really was. Loved it. But let's face it, Cheltenham were absolutely shocking.
maddog Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 We looked like Man Utd playing Cheltenham today. This was a stunning performance all round, probably the best of the season. I know Cheltenham were shit, but they did create some chances, and it was our class that got us our goals, not awful mistakes from Cheltenham. Morrison, the midfield (apart from King), and Steve Howard were on fooking fire.
Craig Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Cheltenham were poor (Fans not included), but we can only beat what's put infront of us. Didn't think much of us until Howard scored to be honest, same as tuesday night, but from then on we cruised it. Top stuff. Bring on Tranmere
