Father Ted Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 A very proffesional performance from us. Then again, they did have Josh Low playing centre mid...
Simi Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Pearson. I didn't think he had it in him to change the team, but he did and we really did look a better side for it. Gradel was impressive, would like to see him have a run in the team now, I'm sure Dyer understands that he needs a rest. Gradel's directness was paramount to our performance, the defender hated him running at him and quite a lot of the time Gradel had an end product for all the work he did. Anyone that watches Pearson during the match will have noticed today how much he was coaching Gradel, always telling him to be direct and run with the ball and always there to offer advice. All the goals were clinical and had impressive build up, great result for the team.
Mikey Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Good performance against a poor side. Oakley MOTM, closely followed by Gradel, but the whole team played well. You could see the confidence back in players. Their fans were class.

May I also add that Cleverley was also really impressive and was another player who wanted to run with the ball. Ok, he was greedy at times but it shows confidence for such a young lad who is ony going to get better. In fact, today everybody wanted the ball and wanted to get a goal which was the big difference between the last 4 home performances and today.
Simi Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Also, with regards to the dissalowed goal, the referees assesor was not impressed with the decision and has taken it up with the linesman.
RowlattsFox Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Also, with regards to the dissalowed goal, the referees assesor was not impressed with the decision and has taken it up with the linesman. To be honest I think he was right to flag for offside, assuming Howard was offside in the first place. Howard went for the ball, the linesman didn't know that the defender was going to get there first, would have been harsh on Cheltenham if it stood, its a bit of a grey area. Had we not won the game because of that decision then my opinion might be different though I suppose.
Father Ted Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Also, with regards to the dissalowed goal, the referees assesor was not impressed with the decision and has taken it up with the linesman. They should also have in mind, the other decisions he gave in Cheltenham's favour after that.

I agree with you, but like I say the assesor wasn't best pleased.
Father Ted Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Cleverley's goal was actually class. How he missed the chance exactly like it before I will never know
Ashley Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 I'm really pleased with todays performance. Oakley MOTM for me his distribution was class, 23 unbeaten keep up the good work Leicester.
Munzie Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 "Dad, can we go by motorbike?"Today was the first time my lad sang songs and talked about the team as being 'we' and 'us' rather than Leicester. We sat in K-block near the top and the atmosphere was cracking in the first half. Come half-time, "Dad, can we go see Lisa and everyone else?" "But if we stay there we'll have to stand up for the rest of the match." "But I want to stand up!" As the fourth slammed in, while Cheltenham were doing the conga and starting the wave, he declared this to be his best match ever. On the way home I had to slam his thigh as I felt him go limp behind me - he'd been so excited about coming today, especially as we were taking the bike, he had got up at 5am. Maybe it wasn't the long day he'd had, maybe it wasn't the excitement that had started him drifting off to sleep on the back...maybe it was just that we were going past Coventry at the time? It was a dawn for the little man, it will be one of his earliest football memories, his best ever match and he got to see Elvis Hammond and Josh Low. The lucky bastard. For the first time in a long time, I really enjoyed the match today. Not just because of the scoreline but the whole atmosphere was decent today (away fans conga ). Even the weather was good and I could still feel all my fingers and toes as I walked back to the car. The linesman threatened to ruin the game in the second half (disallowed own goal and two corners flagged as goal kicks). Twat! I'm glad little Daggers enjoyed his experience too. Maybe you should write to the club and explain that this is the way of attracting younger fans to the game, standing and cheering! On the way out, I did see you donning multiple layers of thermals and kevlar next to the Guzzi (good to see it's still running!). My son had to get back ASAP for a party otherwise I would have said hello. Maybe next time.

Daggers Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Normal service has been resumed. Pearson out! Sack the board!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Pearson out!Sack the board! It's what will be on the monday evening moan-in. I might even phone in and ask why we didn't score 8 against such a poor team!
RowlattsFox Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Agree with the fact that the linesman didn't know that Howard wasn't going to get the ball, but Howard wasn't offside. Well if thats the case, then yeah it was a very poor decision. I couldn't tell from my position.
Thracian Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 How nice to see so many, and well justified, sevens and eights among the player ratings. I still think we were done out of a fifth goal and was pissed off that Pearson's substitutions ended any chance of my pocketing a grand for my bet that we'd win 6-0. But I asked for changes that would inject pace, energy and movement into the side and that's what we got. My only concern is that it was relatively easy to play without fear against Cheltenham and will start to rate Pearson higher as a manager when he shows consistently that he can ask for and get a pass-and-move game out of his team against decent opposition. Other than the above I'll take nothing from the performance. Cheltenham were the opponents of the day and we slaughtered them with some super football. Lots of one-touch passing, ball spread from side to side, full use of the width of the pitch, players running at people and trying to open defences up, great one-two's at times, entire team moving up into the attacking half, exciting individual contributions and individuals who managed to combine really well as a team. Well done one and all. More of the same is what I want.
hemelfox Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 My first game at the Walkers since August, but more importantly for me, was my 5 year old son being there. It was his third Leicester game (2 at the Walkers) and one away at Plymouth. He shouted at the top of his voice and I bought him his first Leicester shirt. Finally persuaded my husband that it was far better than getting a Liverpool shirt! So glad I made it today and to see my team score 4 excellent goals. Should have been more though but will defo take that! We just need to build on it now and hopefully we will do that now. Mind you I thought that after the Walsall game and was sadly disappointed by the draws.
leftsideoverhere Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Greg also had a fantastic game, singing along in SK3 and he was up on his feet quicker than I was when the SK4 gang started "stand up for the champions". All-in-all it sounds like the future generation of City fans is coming through. Howard was behind the defender when the cross was put in, and was barely in front even by the time the own goal went in, so the linesman could only rule it out if he was (a) behind the play and (b) a ****wit. So perhaps that helps explain it. Cheltenham were poor, except for the first ten minutes, but the atmosphere was great from the off, and NP was superb, responding to the crowd, and 'sorting out' the linesman, and then giving Max a big grin and a salute at the final whistle. Kudos to him for putting a team on the park to play passing football. The one-touch passing, the step-overs and the interplay was better than anything I've seen from City in several years. Can they maintain it against better opposition now they've remembered how to do it? I hope so. Only one slight disappointment - that Cleverley didn't pass to Gradel on that first little run into the box a couple of minutes before the one in which he scored. Maxie was free and would defo have pounced. Apologies to the Cheltenham fans for joining in the "cheerio" singing when they were doing the conga - we couldn't really see what they were doing from the opposite corner, and it did look like an early exodus back to the buses. We couldn't hear them singing either, so most of our banter was with the part-timers in SK1

Looking forward to getting our 'home' game with Watford back next season, providing they stay up
Poakey Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Nice to see some positive posts on here tonight!Cant be doing with reading all that negative bollocks when you look at our position.

Like a Hollywood Happy Ending, only better. Something of the most heartfelt I've read in years. Daggers, you've just given me the definitive reason to come over for Easter. Bike some more & let the good times roll on! To kids. To the future. And to your ST renewal.
