Millwall post match

So people didn't like the constant gesturing and threatening or the coin throwing or having to being escorted by plod to protect them from getting their heads kicked in but they liked the 'intimidating atmosphere.' Without all that shit, what part of it is intimidating? I'm a bit confused.

Where have I said I didn't like the gesturing or the so called threatening? I expected it to be honest. I think it's weird to say I enjoyed it, but it all added to the day for me.

But our ground is terrible, you can tell its the first all seater to be built from scratch, just 4 big dumps of concrete.

No real character around the ground with even less to do within the near proximeter.

As for the fans comment? I'd rathar be a Millwall fan than a Leyton Orient or Brentford fan, two nothing clubs.

Would you have said this if Oakley or Pearson had been seriously hurt?

They got off lightly on Saturday. The next targets at the den might not be so lucky...

Millwall have condemned the actions of supporters who threw objects on to the pitch during their 1-0 home defeat by Leicester on Saturday.

Bottles and a boiled egg were among the objects thrown at the pitch during the match at the Den, and the referee's report has included the incidents.

A statement on the club's website read: "Such actions do nothing but damage the reputation of this club and its fans."

Millwall say they are determined to identify and prosecute offenders.

The club are now asking for all "decent fans" to help them to identify those involved.

The statement added that the actions of those fans "can only be detrimental to both ( the club and it's fans ) following all the positive work undertaken on and off the pitch in recent years".

The FA says it will now be working with Millwall, and that identifying the individuals involved is a priority.

That's fooking precious. Love it.

I think I saw you and your missus waiting on the platform, whilst we were squeezed on the train waiting for it to leave. If it was you, she didn't look very happy (although I don't blame her to be honest)!!

lol Yes that was us, she was fumin (she had a few paddies that day, she's a bit touchy!) at the coppers cos they was clean ignorin me when I told em we were Leicester and wanted that train. Was a bit crap waiting for the next one cos more Millwall came up and she was shittin!

I saw Smuts gettin on the train

Thank you, at least someone on here with a bit of sense can see what I'm saying! (Shipman).

I think it was James that asked whether I believe we have a "problem". No. Millwall is Millwall. Always has been, always will be.

If you had even one scooby you'd know that the boys causing agg after the game were kids/wannabees. Not firm. We are always going to attract that sort.

If ANY team wants it (which Leicester supposingly did) then you need to get to Rotherhithe/Bermondsey/Surrey Quays. Millwall was out in force Saturday for you mouthy sods but you never showed, which everyone expected anyway.

It's all well and good giving it mouth and shouting "your not scary anymore" from the safety of a walkway and the entire met police force through one of Londons busiest stations.

Clueless idiots.

I went for a walk round Bermondsey before the game and seen a few of your firm about. They just had no-one to have a war with cos no-one came down (from what I seen). I think it's pretty safe for away fans now cos no-one comes down before the game and after they don't get let out (must be frustratin for all those who want an old-fashioned bang). I also saw lots of folk givin it the big un through the walkway! Fair enough though, everyone likes a bit of banter.

All the kids who think it is or was fun really need to grow up and those of the older generation that still haven't got out of there systems are only deserving of pity.

Agree completely.

Looking back over this thread I don't really know why I got drawn into a silly argument with our friend AWOL. At the same time I don't like to just turn a blind eye when someone comes on here condoning violence and accepting racism in football. And I'd say the same if it was Leicester fans as well.

If opposing violence and racism makes me a happy clapper then that is fine by me. People defending it (and that's some of the posters on here as well) need to have a word with themselves.

Saturday was an experience. I enjoyed it. But then if every club was like Millwall I don't think they'd be much of a game left.

Football violence is different from random violence on a Saturday night in town. And it has nothing to do with racism. The guys who fight at football don't fight random people, they just bang with other folks on arranged meets. And if you get caught up in it you never get randomly attacked. I've been at places where firms are bangin and I've never been hurt cos I aint involved. Spectator

You misunderstood my post. But I really can't be bothered to get drawn in to another discussion, I'll leave it there.

Just one further observation - is South Bermondsey one of the few places in the land where the tone and property prices are actually RAISED by the presence of a travellers site?

That would be 'organised violence', which is quite different from fans hurling abuse and attacking me or you just because we come to watch our team play!! And to continue such moronic behaviour throughout the match!!

It wouldn't be if travellers weren't so scared to set foot in Nottingham of course.....

I think he was referring to the fans that were singing "town full of pakis" when he was talking about racism.

I believe the reference to fighting and racism were two different items.

As for not getting caught up in it as an innocent spectator - bollocks! Where have you been all these years? There's been many, many instances of 'innocent' fans and non-fans being attacked just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, if you've never been caught up like that you haven't been going long, going to the right(wrong) matches or you've been extremely lucky.

And it's not significantly different from Saturday night violence, it's still Neanderthal and pointless and happens because of a combination of drink and/or the security of numbers. Most of those involved would shit themselves if they weren't either drunk or surrounded by like minded twats.

Under no circumstances, whatever one believes the cause is can they be excused, we're all paying the price both financially and in how we are treated as fans by these arseholes.

Reading some of this lot I wonder why I've remained a football fan at all.

Using football as a front for inter-City gang violence is so pathetic - if such people really need to rumble why the hell don't they join a boxing club or try and get into he army if there's any chance they'll be wanted or could ever attain the standards required.

As in other instances it seems that society has no longer got the will to deal with the sort of people who constantly impact on the pleasure of genuine football fans.

Perhaps it would be effective to sentence anyone found guilty of violent behaviour at football matches to three months on the front line with our forces.

On the one hand the protagonists should be happy, being at the epicentre of as much violence as they could wish for. And I'm sure the clubs would be happy to be rid of people whose uncivilised behaviour does so much damage to the game's reputation.

One doubts it would help our soldiers much but forming the convicted fans into an independent decoy unit might have some merit all round. I wouldn't let em loose with guns, of course, cos there's no telling who they'd shoot. Just football rattles, scarves and a pocket full of change each.

They do get in. I know loads of soldiers/ex soldiers who fight all the time. At football, down the pub or in town. And if you want anyone fighting for your country surely you want the ones who are up for it?
