Unit Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 i hate it when i've had a few drinks before the game and would kill for a pint at half time and get that drying up feeling but have to shell out 3 quid for a pint of flat piss, i always take a bottle of pepsi max with me! buggers
Smerklo Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Me and my Dad usually go to the kebab shop down the road (can't remember the name, but it's past the bridges as you turn right out of the road to the stadium). Box of chips and a Dr Pepper after a game, you can't beat it
Alexikokopops Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 I liek the balti pies. And £3 for a pint is a bargain!
CosbehFox Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Anyone else think it is shit?I mean yesterday i got Chips a lucozade and a lion bar and it was lovely(cost me a 5ver but ohwell.) I just think the walkers is shite. How long ya wait Jake at Millwall? I thought it was a farce, it took thirty minutes to be served, only to be told that there was one sausage roll left over and they were waiting for the chips. Now Brizzle Rvrs, that was proper!! Them pasties!! The beer was in plastic bottles. Probably equals to £6.20 a pint.
Unit Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 I liek the balti pies. And £3 for a pint is a bargain! you live in london, nuff said. I'm used to my £1.89 for a newcy brown at the highcross, not £3 for a pint of warm flat piss served in a plastic cup
Alexikokopops Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Probably equals to £6.20 a pint. They were 500ml bottles I though, which ain't far off a pint you live in london, nuff said. I'm used to my £1.89 for a newcy brown at the highcross, not £3 for a pint of warm flat piss served in a plastic cup Haha, I know. Popping back to Lincolnshire to see the parents is lovely for the cheap pubs alone.
Sir Fynwy Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Sounds like there are some matchday gourmet feasts going on. The only reason I can see for eating at the ground is the amount of drink consumed beforehand.
CosbehFox Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 They were 500ml bottles I though, which ain't far off a pint Interesting. Further proof that my eyesight is soon to be in the league of Trevor Benjamin's. At Stockport, I was fine without glasses I could see everything and then by the time it got Bristol, I had to wear to make sure we'd scored a goal. Probably too much wrist action.....over Steve Howard
Finnegan Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 The hot dogs are horrible - yet I have one every time I go. Snap
Corky Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 I can't remember the last time I bought food at a home match. Too pricey and not great quality.
Monk Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Food at the football is never great, but the Walkers is still streets ahead of the grounds. The hot dog I got a Selhurst park earlier in the season would have made a poor excuse for shit. In an ideal world I wish the club would - install some vending machines for chocolate bars and pop for quick service - sub contract tea and coffee to a half decent company. I mean seriously the teas and coffees are awful and they're the simplest of things to get right - I can't comment on the food as I have my lunch before I head out but if they had something a little healthier I might be tempted. Even a sandwich, slice of pizza, bag of wedges would be better than pies and hotdogs. A little extra effort would go a long way. - A more professional bar set up would be preferable also, put some stools around the walls in the concourse for people to perch on maybe? Also pouring the beer from something more than a wallpaper bench with some casks under it would make me value my pint a bit more.
Fox in a Box Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 scampi and boil tatts would be nice. bit so would a bottle of gin!
bluebeau Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 As someone mentioned, the Balti pies are not bad, but cheapest is take your own pot noodle & ask the lad/girl on the food bar to put you some hot water in it!! Plastic spoon available too!!
AoWW Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 I like the cheese and onion pasties. But I fail to see how I can be one of the first down to the concourse, yet invariably they've already run out.
grth2004 Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 i got a hip flask for xmas and that has sorted the beer prices out for me , few shots of rum at the game you cant beat it.
Orkneyfox Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 On the few times I get all the way down from Orkney it has to be a Pukka pie, a taste of the mysterious orient.
BoneDog Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 i got a hip flask for xmas and that has sorted the beer prices out for me , few shots of rum at the game you cant beat it. That's the way to do it. I had a few Martell minitures in me pocket at Millwall and when we scored they flew out me pockets when we scored!
Babylon Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I'm not sure how anyone can look beyond a balti pie.... hmmmmm balti pie.
maddog Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Its about time football clubs changed what sort of food they sell. Dirty burgers, hot dogs just don't appeal to me anymore, the pies are ok though. Chip Cobs (Nice bread for the cobs), thick chips not fries. Paninis, easy to make and healthy. Add a bit of salad to the burgers, use decent bread, not the cheap shit they have now.
