I will going tomorrow so am nervous. But then even bearing in mind my abysmal record surely we have to win this one. 2-0 Howard and Oakley.

If United can boost their survival bid by overturning Nigel Pearson's champions-elect at the Walkers Stadium (kick-off 3pm) it will go down as the most remarkable result of the campaign. And while the Cumbrians are without a win in six games, manager Abbott claims they are playing the Foxes at the right time, with Pearson's table-toppers having won just once in their last four games as they stumble towards the finish line. "Leicester were invincible at one point," said Abbott, who is preparing to rush Peter Murphy back into his defence to replace broken hand victim Ian Harte. "They were winning game after game, and went on near-enough a club record of undefeated games. "Now we have seen they are not invincible. The scintillating wing play of the 21-year-old from the Ivory Coast became a feature of City's good start to the season. However, he lost his place to Nicky Adams and, when the tactical formation changed, with Matt Oakley being used wide on the right, his chances became few and far between. TBH, I don't hink he's been great this season, the end product\cross\pass at times just hasn't been good enough, but the lad does have loads of potential, good luck to him!!

It's their first ever visit to Walkers Stadium - they'll either feel really intimidated or have something to prove against the biggest club in the league. Just one player has made his City bow against the Cumbrians: on loan Gerry Daly in February 1983, as City embarked on a late run to secure promotion. That highlighted bit in the above quote has got to be a good omen!! Fryatt used to play for them. He may want to prove something to his old club City have won each of the last five meetings overall; and are also unbeaten in the last four clashes here in Leicester.

Thracian Posted 3 April 2009 Posted 3 April 2009 I just want us to ditch the apologetic football and set out to score some goals and win with a bit of attitude. This ponderous "lets take no risks football" irritates me. It used to be about what we did but Pearson seems to have lost his way since Tunchev and Davies have been off the scene. The lack of cover from our pathetically small squad has been exposed - particularly our lack of anyone who can be called a footballing centre-back or a credible alternative striker. All the passing and moving that seemed to be becoming a feature of our play has disappeared - apparently stiffled by tension and/or lack of conviction. There's no joy to the team's play anymore. It's plain to see that the desperation for promotion and with it the club's desperation for money are far stronger factors than any desire to thrill as a football outfit. We should win tomorrow, no question, but the Carlisle boss is right. We're nothing like invincible. Never have been. And if they can last long enough to work on our nerves and bring our ever-present uncertainty to the surface anything can happen. I'd love to think the fans could help the situation by maintaining the sort of non-stop support they've offered in the past during times of crisis and which they've largely offered away from home throughout this season. But you really never know at the Walkers. It can seem more like a garden party than a football match sometimes.
