Carlisle United are facing a mounting injury list as they battle to avoid relegation from League One.

The Cumbrians currently have nine first-team players out of action with goalkeeper Chris Howarth and defender Ian Harte the latest casualties.

Howarth fractured his fibula during a reserve-team game and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Harte broke his hand at the weekend and may also be out for the season, although he could continue playing.

The Cumbrians currently lie 19th in League One, just one point above the relegation places.

Howarth picked up the injury during the 1-1 draw with Preston's reserves on Monday, while new signing Harte picked up his injury 10 minutes into the second half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Northampton.

Former Leeds defender Harte, 31, will meet a specialist on Wednesday to determine how long it could keep him out of action.

He joins Danny Livesey, Peter Murphy, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, Paul Thirwell, Michael Burns, Kevin Gall and Gary Madine on the sidelines.

Defender Livesey is unlikely to play again this season with patella tendonitis, an inflammation of the knee but Murphy should return this weekend from a back problem.

Bridge-Wilkinson is also unlikely to play again this season as he recovers from an operation remove floating bone from a toe.

Club captain Thirlwell is receiving treatment on a troublesome calf injury that has blighted his last two seasons while Burns suffered an ankle twist in training.

Gall returned from his loan spell at Port Vale last week with a muscle problem but striker Madine is set to resume his loan spell with Rochdale after receiving treatment for a sore hip.

Its all set up for an easy win, or a terrible defeat then :scarf:

COME ON!!! :bounce::celebrate::yahoo:

Even though they have loads of injuries, I still think they will put up a pretty good fight. Try and frustrate us and then hit us on the counter-attack maybe. They'll try and get loads of set-pieces too as they will see this as best way of scoring.

Saying that though, ultimately we will be too strong for them.

I think that will work against us as there will be even more reason to put 11 men in their area. I see a narrow 1 - 0 win.

Can't wait for this game. My first since Novemeber because i'm always working and skint.

Got the day planned out perfectly. Weatherspoon's (Highcross) at 9am for breakfast then drinking until we got to leave for the game.

0-0 draw. I might get on it.

I'll be enjoying this game from the comfort of the Loaded Dog and a bit of Jeff Stelling drinking game.

If we can't beat a team with 9 players out... there is no hope.

Hang on a minute, are you actually going to predict a Leicester win?!

Is everything ok? Feeling alright?

Ya know what.... I had this wave of optimism come over me after I saw the Millwall result...

I am feeling good, we have to lose 4 games in a row and millwall have to win3 and draw one of those 4 to overtake us.... surely we wont mess that up...

Still 1-1.... maybe 2-1 win if we're lucky

Ohh no Peter Murphy is sidelined, that means his girlfriend Roxxxane won't be coming.

Anyway, SHOULD be a win, with Carlisle lingering and Nigel facing his old club!

King and Howard back so, lets look on the bright side. Cannot wait!

We should brush these aside if we play to our capabilities and we've got King and Howard back so we should be fine. I'm going for a comfortable win on our part here.

Just been told by Carlilse fan that they have 8 first team players out! Kavanagh and Bridges start tho, which are quite dangerous. BUT come on, if we can't bet team just above relegation places at home, then we don't deserve to be top!! I'm going for 3-0!!

Bloody right. But I'm told they'll actually have 11.:D

So long as they haven't got 12 or 14, I'll be happy

I'm going for 2-0 to us. Fryatt to score both

Fryatt can rely on Howard assisting once more, King is back and Carlisle are down to the bare bone in terms of player availability.

Leicester has to prove the 2-0 at Peterborough was an unfortunate slip in the long run.

Plus, we're playing at home. Should be a splendid afternoon and it feels like Cheltenham to me, only a bit better.

5-0. A Fryatt hattrick that has been long overdue.

I want a win.

A win and good performance would nice, a thumping win very pleasant, but the three points are the main thing.

A cracking performance with a 3-0 win would be great for confidence.

This is the run in now boys, please, please don't fuck it up.

We need the win in my book. Whenever we need it we dont get it...

Everyone's book mate.

And I disagree with the other statement. We needed a win against Millwall, and we got it.

I want a win, and a good performance

Time to show that we deserve promotion. Come out firing, fast and flowing football, dominate the game and take at least two goals in the first half. Two more in the second, comfortable victory and then it doesn't matter what other teams do.

I reckon you guys will cruise to victory prolly by 2 or 3 goals. Hopefully we can keep up by beating Oldham and extend the gap to the Wall.
