mmarkie Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 Nor Brown. It hasn't done us much good in recent seasons either but it's not much use looking to the reserves, such as they are, because there really don't seem to be any worth mentioning. What about Oakley. Could he fill the role as an emergency? At least he's a capable all-round footballer. I know he's not the best tackler but he does close people down reasonably well and has at least got some athleticism left. He also fits the "experienced" requirement. I'd be more inclined towards him than Hobbs or Edworthy especially if Pearson's brave enough to attack with attitude which will probably give us the best chance of winning. That would leave something like: Stockdale; Oakley, Hobbs, Brown, Mattock; Gradel, King, Ajdarevic, Dyer; Fryatt, Howard. Subs: Warner, Morrison, Adams, Psssh, Dickov. Not that it's the greatest team by any means. Keep dreaming mate
mmarkie Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 Myteam would be:- Stockdale Edworthy Hobbs Brown Berner Oakley© King Ajdarevic Gradel Howard Fryatt SUBS Warner Morrison Mattock Dyer Dickov

act smiley Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 What about Oakley. Could he fill the role as an emergency? Not really - at his worst on the right, he doesn't hold shape very well, and I wouldn't be at all comfortable with him there. The solution is the solution to all of our problems, really: Chris Powell
breadandcheese Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 How the hell can Edworthy be match fit? What a mess. We've known for months that we've got no realistic covert for Gilbert. Where's young Lee Cox? Last I heard he'd gone on loan to Yeovil but I can find no recent mention of his name. Was it another waste of time loan? Did the guy get injured? Or what? Once upon a time Cox was a reliable defender who tackled with a bit of bite. Then there was Luke O'Neill who didn't seem to let anyone down against Hartlepool when we won in the cup but who has hardly been seen since. Have either developed as players or haven't they? The options really make me wince. Hobbs has played right back before and looked awful. Who've we got in the FoxesTalk X1? I can't help feel that the lack of reserve team has really caused us problems again. Too many players have struggled with match fitness because of this, particularly those who have come back from injury.
Guest Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 Stockdale; Morrison, Hobbs, Kis, Powell; Oakley, King, Ajdarevic, Dyer; Fryatt, Howard. Subs: Gradel, Adams, Chambers, Pentney, Brown
Joe. Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 Warner Powell --- Hobbs --- Morrison --- Mattock Gradel --- Oakley --- King --- Dyer Howard --- Fryatt The right back situation is a bit lame really. I hate seeing centre backs play there, I don't know how match fit Edworthy is, and I'm sure Chris Powell is epxerienced enough to pay slightly out of position for one game.
escape2victory Posted 5 April 2009 Posted 5 April 2009 -------------------Warner Edworthy---Hobbs---Brown---Berner Oakley---Ajdarevic---King---Dyer ------------Howard---Fryatt Subs: Hayles, Stockdale, Morrison, Mattock, Gradel
Mr Happy Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 If Gilbert's out and the possibility of Edworthy not being match fit maybe now is the time to try an academy player Also Warner's runs out the box are comical but worrying especially as our form isn't brilliant right now. Stockdale didn't really impress me either so why not try Pentney again? Dropping Mattock wouldn't be a bad idea too, Powell is more than capable of doing the job at left-back. Team to look like this: Pentney Academy player Morrison Hobbs Powell Oakley King Ajdarevic Gradel Fryatt Howard Subs: Warner/Stockdale, Dyer, Brown/Kisnorbo, Chambers/Dickov, Berner

I think Berner would be a better option at left-back than Powell though. Oakley needs to be on the right as he gets more space to create and Gradel on the left is currently a better option than Dyer
Ford Super Sunday Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Warner Mattock Hobbs Brown Berner Dyer (Finally came good on Saturday!) King Oakley Gradel Fryatt Howard The team picks itself at the moment, not becuase we are any good, but that we have no real depth, and are incapable of bringing anyone good in. I wouldn't be playing Ajarevic yet, maybe bring him off the bench. I want Oakley in the centre. I actually trust him
CosbehFox Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 WarnerEdworthy Morrison Hobbs Powell Gradel Oakley King Dyer Howard Fryatt Subs: Stockdale, Brown, Berner, Adams, Hayles The same except swap around Stockdale and Warner.

King ---- Dyer Fryatt ---- Howard Subs: Stockdale, Brown, Berner, Dickov, Ajdarevic
The Doctor Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 who whould start powell over mattock someone who has seen recent matches and seen how poor mattock has been and also if you look berner starts over mattock not powell
leicesterseddon Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 who whould start powell over mattock Me for a start Mattock has been atrocious lately - if he weren't young and local, everyone would want him out the side. That said, I'm all in favour of bringing through young players, but considering how shite he's been lately and the importance of the run-in, Powell is a safer bet for these last few games IMO.
Thracian Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 Thats close to the heskey at centre back statement. I don't have the slightest doubt about Heskey making a decent centre-back my Oakley suggestion is for emergency only. We love going for experience the more pressure we get and it's the last thing I want but choiuce is limited and at least we all know that Oakley is fit and capable of tracking people. In terms of using a specialist defender (assuming Gilbert isn't fit) we have Edworthy, Hobbs, Brown, Kisnorbo, Morrison and Powell as options. Edworth and Powell have barely played. Both offer very little in attack anyway and the last thing we need now is the sort of safety first tactics that got us relegated at Stoke. We need to win games if we can remember how the hell to do it. That means having a team that can defend as one but, always ignored at Leicester these days, also attack as one. Oakley can attack and so can Mattock. Making sure they do is the manager's job. Hobbs has shown he's no right back, Morrison is no way quick enough, Brown is having enough doing his speciailist job properly and Kisnorbo can't tackle. It's an unenviable choice but Oakley still comes out as offering the best alternative for what we want. He would also give us another attacker in the team cos we rarely need four full-time defenders anyway. Any more than we need everyone back in the box for set pieces and the unnecessary crowding that does with it.
maddog Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 3-5-2 anyone If Tunchev weren't injured yes. That would be far too risky without him though. Playing a side fighting for their lives, who beat Leeds comfortably 2-0, and were 4-0 up at half time at home to Oldham. They can raise their game, 3-5-2 and we could easily lose by 2 goals or more.
maddog Posted 6 April 2009 Posted 6 April 2009 The team will probably be this: Warner Brown Hobbs Kisnorbo Mattock Gradel King Oakley © Dyer Fryatt Howard Subs: Stockdale, Astrit, Dickov, Berner, Morrison. But i want this: Warner Morrison Hobbs Brown Powell Gradel King Berner © Dyer Howard Dickov Subs: Fryatt, Stockdale, Astrit, Oakley, Kisnorbo Have Dickov and Howard played together this season yet Maybe once, i think that partnership could work.
Fox92 Posted 7 April 2009 Posted 7 April 2009 Stockdale [if he is fit] Morrison [hate playing centre backs at full back but I think Micheal played at full back a few times for Cambridge and anything but Edworthy] Hobbs Brown Mattock Gradel Oakley King Dyer Howard Fryatt
