potter3 Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 Thought that today's was an improvement on yesterdays by quite a bit.
Libertine Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 Shall watch the second one to see if it's better than the first, but I won't hold my breath. Won't watch the third if tonight's was as bad as the previous one.
cisono Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 Wont be able to see it. I did like red dwarf but series 8 didnt impress me it got too slick and I prefered when there was no money spent on it. Yeah, found it disappointing. Though I am sure that MasterFox would quite enjoy this first episode...
Monk Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 There are so many directions that they could have taken it, and I don't mind this one too much other than that it's a dead end. Not sure what is going to happen in the final one tomorrow but Dave could have plugged it more by doing more shows. SMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEG HHHHHE HHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAD
BlueSi13 Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 Very very disappointed to say the least, no atmosphere, no charm and simply not funny, .....Red Dwarf in Coronation Street?......desperate! since when is Coronation Street popular with the people who tend to like Red Dwarf!?....or popular at all!! hopefully the entire abomination will be forgotten as soon as its all over, though sadly it'll smash any hope of the BBC commissioning a new series god i miss the starbug series!!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 No... I'm likee. Essentially it's turned into a parody of Blade Runner and if you haven't seen Blade Runner you're gonna miss about 40% of the jokes. I also like the references to "series 9" and the scenes in the comic shop were good too.
lou Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 I stand, as usual, to be corrected, but I seem to remember that the earlier series didn't have canned laughter either. I think it was Red Dwarf - there's definitely one series I remember a new series starting and I was making a fuss that "it didn't have canned laughter last series."No one tells ME when and how to laugh thank you very much! It was good without being brilliant. Let's hope it hasn't peaked yet. Oh, and like Jay said, great comment Smuts! I did say studio audience/canned laughter - I wasnt saying I approve of canned laughter but I did think there was either that or an audience before... seems there was a live audience in some prevs. Thats obv what I was thinking of. It just seemed odd with neither. I have to say I didnt laugh much but havent seen Saturdays yet!
grth2004 Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 i thought both episodes so far had there moments , the second episode was great. to be honest its just a one off bit of fun and thats how it should be taken , i dont believe any true red dwarf fan would not find it entertaining to see them all back.
Babylon Posted 12 April 2009 Author Posted 12 April 2009 Red Dwarf in Coronation Street?......desperate! since when is Coronation Street popular with the people who tend to like Red Dwarf!? Maybe something to do with Craig Charles being contracted to Corrie? They would probably only release him if Corrie got wangled into it somehow. Just a guess.

True, i believe that your very correct sadly!! but i can't believe what Doug Naylor is doing to his creation with this special! it feels like he's throwing all the history and mythology he created away!....if it ends how i believe it will end, with Lister becoming his Coronation Street character and it all ending in a sick sort of full circle than s**t will literally come out of my arse!
David Guiza Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 Great last episode i thought . I had a feeling it would invlove the dispair squid
stez Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 well i liked all three, and enjoyed the 'open end' so hopefully we'll see them again, and finally find out what happened to lister's twin boys........
syston_fox Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 Episode one - disappointing Episode two - passable Episode three - excellent - a flashback to the old days. The typewriter scene with Rimmer's groin banging and the spelling mistakes was a personal highlight
Libertine Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 Watching the second now. Lot better so far. Doesn't make any sense though. How they're on TV on Earth etc.
Libertine Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Watched the third. Better again. Bit of a silly story overall. Happy enough with the last two episodes though.
Libertine Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Just watching the last one now, quite confused. Understandably.
Phube Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Typewriter scene was like 'classic Red Dwarf'. But I want a proper series and how did Rimmer survive!!!?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Typewriter scene was like 'classic Red Dwarf'. But I want a proper series and how did Rimmer survive!!!? Didn't you see series 9? I would have preferred a more conclusive ending.
