martinrowland Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 The Sun also has a rumour in it that we are going to loan Chris Gunter and Gareth Bale.

Tubes Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 The Sun also has a rumour in it that we are going to loan Chris Gunter and Gareth Bale. Was going to point that out myself, though everyone had missed it. Its in the pullout in the middle next to a Shrewsbury Town badge.
Joe. Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 LEICESTER are tracking Tottenham defenders Gareth Bale and Chris Gunter. Gunter, who is on loan at Nottingham Forest, and ex-Southampton star Bale, both 19, are set to be sold this summer. But Wigan and Sunderland are also after Bale
Finnegan Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Was going to point that out myself, though everyone had missed it. Its in the pullout in the middle next to a Shrewsbury Town badge. Gunter and Bale on loan, Forest go down - get Earnie on the cheap, snatch David Edwards from Wolves 'cos he'll never get in their Premiership team and intercept Celtic's swoop for Ched Evans. BELIEVE! ... it's going to be a long summer on FoxesTalk.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 The Sun also has a rumour in it that we are going to loan Chris Gunter and Gareth Bale. Gareth Bale would be an amazing signing. It may not have been a great season for him at Tottenham, but he was great for a poor Southampton side at Championship level last season. I'd be delighted if Bale came to the Walkers. Not so sure about Gunter though, haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement.

Not so sure about Gunter though, haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement. He's been nothing short of pretty dire for Spurs to be honest. It'd certainly be an interesting signing though, that's for sure. The anticipation with free-kicks would be something we haven't experienced in recent years at least.

Not so sure about Gunter though, haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement. Bale won't come here if Premiership teams are tracking him. I appreciate he's been pretty poor for Tottenham but he's an exceptional player, he really is. Three or four times the player Joe Mattock is. Although I'm sort of waiting for some manager to make the inevitable switch, give up on his defensive duties and shove him up onto the wing. He's got amazing touch and confidence on the ball for a defender (well, for anyone really) and his delivery is absolutely superb. He runs and runs and runs, too. But I can't see him coming back down and I can't see us affording the sort of money Tottenham will want to recoop for him. A loan is fairly realistic, I think - but not a purchace. I like Gunter, though. He's more solid, really, I think he's a better full-back than anything we have at the club (on loan or otherwise.) Less adventurous and skillful going forward but consistent and decent doing what he does at the back. One of the more undervalued membrs of Wales' young squad in my opinion - would be a good signing (although Neal Eardley would be, too, and would be much cheaper.) If all of this happens, we should replace the Post Horn Gallop with Land of my Fathers. That was sort of the point.

From the sounds of things, both would be good signings for us even on loan. Bale is clearly struggling at Premiership level for now, so Redknapp may well be tempted to send him out on loan to a Championship club. This may be a situation where Milan's past relationship with 'Arry may come in very handy. If we can achieve something incredible and get back-to-back promotions (unlikely but still ) then he won't seem so out of reach and the loan could become permanent. Nothing to lose and everything to gain with such a talented player. Gunter sounds a solid player, and would be a more than able replacement for Gilbert if/when he returns to Arsenal. Both sound like decent prospects in my opinion and I would be delighted to see Pearson chasing their signatures.

Both sound like decent prospects in my opinion and I would be delighted to see Pearson chasing their signatures. I would personally prefer Gunter to Gilbert, I think he's far more steady in his defensive duties and he'd be far more likely to be a permanent signing, too. Bale's only real problem in the Premiership has been his lack of composure. The amount of silly fouls and cards he's picked up has been utterly costly. He's strong, has a good positional sense and is decent in the air so you can understand why managers persist with him as a defender but he's error prone and problematic there, too. Really is one of the best young wing backs I've seen outside of the top four, though. He's a rare joy to watch in an otherwise woeful Welsh team and he's done it consistently against some of Europe's best teams, too, even when the rest of the side have looked unimaginative and awful.
Filbert_Ross Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 haha just noticed they have put a Shrewsbury badge instead of leicesters next to this Gossip
Matt Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Here we go, the old rumour mill.I hear Kaka is on his way. Birch has just confirmed on the phone in that he saw Kaka in Leicester on Saturday.
Daggers Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Birch has just confirmed on the phone in that he saw Kaka in Leicester on Saturday. True - he was wearing the new, red Adidas team shirt to be unveiled on Friday
Corky Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Birch has just confirmed on the phone in that he saw Kaka in Leicester on Saturday. Yeah, a dog had just had a shit on the pavement.
lildave3 Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 I love Gareth Bale. Not that I think he's brilliant, personally I think he's just a better version of Joe Mattock but still. Wasn't there a stat that Spurs have never won a league game when he's played/started?!
Finnegan Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Because we couldn't possibly have rumours about a player that didn't have a YouTube video.
Head Honcho Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Maybe this is only in the Leicestershire editions aswell, because I don't see this rumour in my edition - My edition has Everton on the front. It's in the Welsh edition also Gunter possible Bale no chance.
dandannieldanok Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Gunter has expressed a desire to return to Forest if Spurs want to loan him out again, and Bale is obviously never going to come.
The Doctor Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Gunter has expressed a desire to return to Forest if Spurs want to loan him out again, and Bale is obviously never going to come. Hume and stearman expressed a desire to stay at city last summer but they still left.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 The Sun report that we are after Gareth Bale and Chris Gunter from Spurs No chance for us getting these two - possibly only if we reach The Premiership !!
The Doctor Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Birch has just confirmed on the phone in that he saw Kaka in Leicester on Saturday. and so starts an insane excitement at the possiblity of signing kaka only to find that we've just been beaten to him by notts forest. forget about kaka he's only going to leave milan for madrid, barca or possibly man u.
dandannieldanok Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Hume and stearman expressed a desire to stay at city last summer but they still left. True and I think he wouldn't go back if Forest go down, but if they stay up then I can't see him going anywhere else really.
