tartanowl Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 I agree - not going to happen, sorry. However, we do have a slightly used ex-England International (big ears, even bigger wage packet) you can have. Arsene Wenger once paid £8m for him and he's a great judge of a player. What more evidence could you need? Enquiries to B. Laws, Hillsborough. Luckily he'll be gone next season. I don't see anyone being stupid enough to go in for him this summer!
Koke Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 I'm glad we're not a graveyard for footballers anymore. What an utter wasteman Franny Jeffers is - he must be on big money at Wednesday.
Dezzee Rascal Posted 22 June 2009 Posted 22 June 2009 Swap him for DJ? If he's got some Barron Knights and Black Lace in his collection it's a deal
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Swap £1.5mil and Campbell for Tudgay, simple. Rather keep Deej if that would be the deal.
The Doctor Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Rather keep Deej if that would be the deal. why? tudgay is much better than DJ.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 why? tudgay is much better than DJ. £1.5 million & DJ for Tudgay? No deal.
The Doctor Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 £1.5 million & DJ for Tudgay? No deal. less than we would have been paying for cox, getting a better player than cox from the deal and getting rid of DJ who has been awful for city and is apparently desperate to leave. I fail to see what there is to object to.

Could probably get a decent wedge for DJ considering the success he had at Blackpool, just becasue he wants to leave it doesn't mean we should be getting raped in exchange deals.

DJ's "success" is over-rated, most of the goals he scored were penalties and besides 9 goals in half a season is hardly going to convince those that can afford to pay this 'decent wedge' of which you speak that he is a worth gamble remembering what he did in his last full championship season which is F*@K All

I'm still convinced he could be a decent striker in the Championship.

I would hope so however that money would more than likely then be spent on a replacement so why not trade him for Tudgay or another striker?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 I would hope so however that money would more than likely then be spent on a replacement so why not trade him for Tudgay or another striker? Yeah that's fair enough, I just feel that £1.5 & DJ is a little steep.
Samilktray Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 9 goals is 9 goals. You think DJ or his manager at the time were bothered that a couple were penalties? Get outta townnnnnnn.
The Doctor Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Yeah that's fair enough, I just feel that £1.5 & DJ is a little steep. how much do you reckon we would get for DJ then beaing in mind his goals to games record across his entire career isn't that great. He has played 262 games in his entire career He has scored 115 goals in his entire career He averages 1 goal every 2.3 games from his entire career HOWEVER 141 of those games were in non-league 84 of those goals were in non-league Therefore he has played 121 games for league sides He has scored 31 goals for league sides meaning that in the league he averages a goal every 3.9 matches

Tbh I don't think £1.5 million is that unrealistic.
Kilworthfox Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Stats don't tell the whole story though, do they? Tbh I don't think £1.5 million is that unrealistic. It is when he is on 13k a week and does not want to drop from that amount. <_<
The Doctor Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Stats don't tell the whole story though, do they? Tbh I don't think £1.5 million is that unrealistic. all Dj really has going for him is pace but seeing as he is poor at finishing thats no good its like having a car that can go at say 250mph but can't turn at all, completely useless. Also he doesn't seem to be able to use his pace in an effective way instead he is almost always offside, fair enough a good striker keeps close to the defender in a goal to goal direction but with that pace he could probably afford to give the defender 1/2 a yard and still beat him for pace and get in on goal, rather than staying goal side of the defender and removing one of the options for passes that his team-mates have.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 No arguements about the fact that he doesn't use his pace well enough.
BlabyFox Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 What about Landon Donavon the american? Saw him against Egypt in the Confederations cup and he looked pacey and pretty good. Don't know how he'd do in the championship though.

Don't know how he'd do in the championship though. Think he'd be too good for the Ch'ship. Probably want to go to somewhere like Fulham.
One Half Wonder Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Stats don't tell the whole story though, do they? Tbh I don't think £1.5 million is that unrealistic. £1.5m for DJ? - i couldn't see anyone paying more than half a million for him.

What do you reckon to our chances of getting someone in like Darius Vassell next season? he won't get a kick all year at Man City with Robinho, Santa Cruz, Tevez?, Calceida, Jo, Sturridge etc.
