grth2004 Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Leicester City striker Steve Howard was named Player of the Season at the club's annual awards dinner at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday evening. Howard, who has bagged 14 goals for the season to date, beat Jack Hobbs, Andy King and Matty Fryatt to the title. Elsewhere, Fryatt picked up the Players' Player of the Season award, while Goal of the Season went to Matt Oakley.

Granno Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 I wouldn't disagree with that. I know Fryatt has provided the bulk of the goals, but Howard has been instrumental to the promotion push. Well Done Steve.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Oakley goal of the season? Versus Leeds? Swindon? His free kick against Hereford was pretty special too. Any of those three would actually be good candidates.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 I swear Gradel vs. MK Dons already won it Those were the fan's awards. Different ceremony.
maddog Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Cheltenham at home - the passing goal. Good choice. I remember thinking what a great goal that was. As for player of the season Fryatt should really have got it. Think Howard's winning these awards on the last minute winner against Leeds factor
lildave3 Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Brilliant news. Although expected it to be other way round, Fryatt poty and then Steve Players Player.
Corky Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Good choice. I remember thinking what a great goal that was.As for player of the season Fryatt should really have got it. Think Howard's winning these awards on the last minute winner against Leeds factor Howard's been just as influential though.
syston_fox Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Brilliant news. Although expected it to be other way round, Fryatt poty and then Steve Players Player. That's what I expected TBH. Thought the players would have appreciated Howard's contribution more than anyone.
maddog Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Howard's been just as influential though. Howards done well but even with Fryatts poor 2nd half of season he should have got it. I can't help but think Howard's winning these based on the fact he was fooking shit last season, so this season he looks much better than he's actually been. And i rekon the last minute header against Leeds has definitely helped
iancognito Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 It's not just the Leeds goal that's done it, I think most people have noticed that we can play and win games without Fryatt but we struggle more without Steve's flick-ons and overall prescence. Half of Fryatt's goals have been assisted by Howard* and his overall contribution has been more than Fryatt's. *not an official stat, it just seems that way.
Lillehamring Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Brilliant news. Although expected it to be other way round, Fryatt poty and then Steve Players Player. that would certainly make a lot of sense, and the usual way these things tend to work....
clazkel Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Howard, King, Oakley and Fryatt winning the awards, i think thats about right. Was hoping Hobbs would get an award tho, hes been solid since Tunchev has been out, but at least he got fans young player of the year. When Howard received the Player of the Year Award he mentioned a minority of fans giving him stick at the beginning of the season which he thinks was unjustified. The performance of the season was V Peterborough at home and Oakley said Peterborough come being cocky, and we stuffed them. I thought Walsall or Cheltenham away were the best performances of the season, but its difficult to pick one When Oakley got goal of the season he said he thought Gradel wouldve got it for the goal at MK, as that goal meant alot. The highlight of the night was Dave Henson singing Heroes in Blue and White Live, with the video, he receievd the best cheer of the night All in all a great night!

General Smuts Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Congratulations on your gong Steve. Im prouder of my clublike dong.
maddog Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 That would be because you're a clown. du du du du du du du du du du :clown:
Raj Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Well Done Fatty! Now do the same next season and i might not hammer you!!! And Oakley better be consistently brilliant too....
Aberdeen_fox Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Didn't think it was worth starting a new thread for this but why is he not in the Scotland B squad? A disgrace he's not considering the season he's had plus he's the last Scotland player to sore a B international goal.

They can't play very often if Howard was the last player to score a B international goal, that must have been at least 2/3 years ago surely?
