Going back to a little place just north of cairns called Port Douglas. Tiny little village basically one street, with a 4 mile beach and a rainforest down the road; perfect

Holland. Must live in Amsterdam one day.

Sorry but I found this pretty funny.

Sure, it's a cool place, I've been twice and am actually going again at the end of this month but DREAM holiday?!

Having already crossed off a few on my list such as Cuba, New York, Thailand and Cairo for me it's now (in order of how much I want to go) Japan, South America and the Middle East.

No more funny than Zante I dont think! lol Its all down to individuals taste and perception though to be fair.

Youre very lucky to have been to so many nice places by the way! Ive hardly been anywhere and have never stepped foot outside of Europe.

You're spot on - Zante is even funnier than Holland actually.

Yeah I am lucky in a way although it's really because I work hard and save up money to go and visit cool places. I spend so much of my life in a bloody office that I like to make sure I see as much of the world as my holiday entitlement will let me - even if it means caning my credit card.

Given that things are quite possibly going rather tits up for me at the moment (there is a good chance that my girlfriend's visa will be denied, and I can't afford the place I'm living, and my job is pretty unsecure) it is quite likely I will go AWOL again soon.

I'm toying with a few ideas at the moment, they have to be cheap and about 2 months in duration. I'm thinking of seeing the areas of South America that I have not yet seen. Expensive to get there but cheap when there.

Also I would love to see the pacific islands - Tuvalu, Tahiti and the Cook Islands for a start

The other idea I have is Europe, I have only seen a handful of countries, and I have a basic route idea for seeing all of the countries in mainland europe.

I like travelling when it isn't blatent tourism - I like to get involved in the what the local way of life is. So anything that will give me a real experience will be a big plus :)

We'll see. As much as I love traveling, for once I hope that it doesn't happen

Top 5 holiday destinations:

5. China to see that big wall

4. T'Egypt to see The Pyramids

3. Amsterdam - Sex and Drugs and err ... Tulips.

2. Machu Pichu and all that Aztec jazz.

1. Road Trip through all the american States, spending a couple of days in each. With Megan Fox and Scarlett Johansson. Kevin Smith can come too but he'll have to wait outside the car for the threesomes.

interesting to see sweden picked by a few people.... kinda curious to know why.

i haven't seen much of it, but i fell in love with gøteborg.

however, as far as scenery is concerned, it is rather boring - unless you like swamps and lakes... certainly, from a landscape POV, norway is the most beautiful scandinavian country, if not one of the worlds.... and people wise i understand that kobenhavn totally rules....

Has anyone comically said Disney Land yet? DB11?

As for myself, I've not really given it much thought in all fairness. I've already seen a few places as a young lad with a father working for a huge telecoms firm prior to the bursting of the old bubble in 2001. Australia being the biggy (covered most of the big cities - nearly six weeks there). Hawaii (twice, three islands total). California (twice). Dubai. Did a lot of air miles 2000/2001 that's for sure.

My next intended destinations are - in no particular order - Iceland, New Zealand, Chile, Scandinavia.

I don't really have a dream holiday in mind, I'd rather see lots of stuff. A few months off with unlimited budget to cover as much ground as possible would be most appreciated.

Always wanted to travel thru Germany for the history, culture, beer and their food always seemed to intrest me.

Also fancy going to Dublin and Belfast one day. Would also like to one day live a whole year in Leicester or London for obvious reasons i think England has a cultre that suits me ie good pubs and football also like the horse racing.

But living in Aus it really is very expensive to travel to europe and that would be the place where the most places intrest me.

How is going Zante funny?

i'd suspect that people are amused by it as it isn't especially aspirational - the 'dream' element to most people, i guess, is a place or experience that they are probably never going to experience.

zante, you see, is pretty attainable....

like with me and italy, these days it's an easy and affordable place to visit, i just don't have any money so it is a dream holiday, tho i imagine for a lot on here it is rather a ordinary experience.

of course, if your dream destination is somewhere you can visit more often, it makes you a very lucky man...
