They're not even proper slashers they're just Hollywood trying to cash in on an ages-old market of pseudo-snuff, S&M fetishism and gore.

"You have been infected with a deadly poison that only I have the antidote to" Now if someone told me that I'd go to the hospital and get my blood tested, not going on a mass kill spree. Hostel is pointless.

I'm not saying it's groundbreaking cinema (or a perfect example of what horror should be) but it's not total guff. I can watch it.

Legend_in_blue Posted 21 May 2009 Posted 21 May 2009 Saw is by far the better film. Hostel is pointless - which has been proven in the sequel which was equally bad, if not worse. Saw makes you think. It makes you laugh. It makes you squirm. There's plenty of poor adaptations on the idea of Saw out there - Untraceable is one of them, that was awful - but none of them touch Saw or the Saw series. Saw is clever in its execution and the follow-ups are equally as good imo. Saw 6 should be good - out October! Until then, the follow up to The Descent (awesome film) is coming out, as is Drag Me to Hell, which has had some great write-ups.
