OXFOXILE Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 My uncle took me to Filbert street when I was a nipper and have been following through thick and thin since then Have 2 sons both born 100 miles from Leicester and who are as passionate about the club as I am
Fosse Boy Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Lived in Leicestershire all my life.Supported them all my life. Family supported them. I can never see myself supporting another team unless i moved abroad somewhere. Surel you's still follow them then though?
Cat Burger Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 My Dad's a United fan but I've lived in Leicester all my life, it was pretty difficult not to follow suit as a youngster let me tell you. I mainly supported United til I was about 11 and got old enough to know better. As a result, and because I wasn't really old enough to go on my own I missed a lot of the good times. Actually, a big factor was that I used to have sensitive skin and a lot of the old Leicester kits, particularly the 1992-94 one, gave me a rash
Edmund Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Leicester had been doing really poorly for years. Yep as soon as we recovered from the flu last year we were a different team.
Munzie Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 I was born and raised in West London. During Summer holidays, my parents would take me to visit some relatives in Northamptonshire. One particular Uncle was a Foxes fan. As a treat for my birthday, he arranged for me to go to a game with him. At the age of 6, I saw my first ever game, a 3-3 draw with West Ham at Filbert Street. The memories stayed with me forever. Back at home most of my friends supported Chelsea, Arsenal, or Spurs (most of which had never been to a game!). I stayed loyal to Leicester. Two weeks later, I even pestered my Dad to take me to Loftus Road to watch QPR v Leicester. Although we stood in the home end, it was City that I had come to see. I remember we lost that game 1-0 but felt proud to see my team again and was blown away with how loud the Leicester fans were. I moved to Northants 12 years ago and was relocated with work to Leicester. That gave me the perfect excuse to go to home games on a more regular basis.
Lillehamring Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 i've got to know i few norwegian city fans (who don't post on hear, or don't post often enough ) and you hear all kinds of weird reasons, and not just for city but for all the teams. naturally there are loads of MU, arse, liv fans, but also loads of fans of smaller or more obscure teams, it usually comes down to favourite players or first games seen, or the teams that used to get shown a lot in the 60s 70s & 89s etc. i'll never stop supporting leicester, why would i, but since moving here, as you can tell from my username, i have adopted my local team as well.
Maybes Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Being born in Leamington Spa I suppose I should technically support Coventry City, although at the time I lived in Dudley until the age of 4 then moved to Leicester. None of my family support Leicester just me really, seen as it is practically my hometown club.
General Smuts Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Leicester City raped me as a child. I have Stockholm Syndrome.
MC Prussian Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 My reason might sound ridiculous at first, but first things first: I neither have family nor relatives in or around Leicester. I've never partiularely been attracted to the "big" clubs in England, hence my support for the "underdog". I used to play football as a junior myself, but thanks to the rising popularity of video games, I got hooked on FIFA back in 1994. And to set myself a challenge in the Premiership, I had the choice between Leicester and Ipswich as the weakest teams. What it was exactly that got me to pick the Foxes, can't recall. Probably the lack of any sort of "success" baggage that the others had, like F*4çest. Or maybe I just wanted to be different and not join the glory hunters of the bigger clubs here in Switzerland who acted and still act like the pest. In the years to follow, I've learnt myself what a great home (and especially away) support Leicester has. My trips to the area have been a real pleasure and I've made a bunch of good friends. Wouldn't trade in this experience for any other club support in the world. It's easy to be a glory hunter with the Big Four or Celtic/Rangers in Scotland, but it's the ups and downs with an institution like Leicester that brings out the best in people! And to be honest, the recent decade has again proved that we just love our own little scandals - on and off the pitch.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Born in Leicester in 1947 and left in 1953. Moved to Leeds, Dundee, and now High Wycombe. Supported City since 1960. The ONLY team for me, and proud of it.
Jattdogg Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Well first of all this is my first post. Been "perving" the board for a year now just never made an account . I was born in Leicester but moved to Canada as a baby...Older brother, mum and dad all from Leicester...Well dad moved their when we was like 4 or something. All my parents siblings etc are from Leicester pretty much. Growing up in Canada I naturally drifted towards hockey but as i became a teen my dad got me into watching footy and he supported city so that was that. Granted we never saw city games but read about it on the net etc. But watched premier league games on tele. So ya been a fan since around 1992 or so. My 3 brothers are all huge city fans. I was in Leicester back in 2006 for my brothers wedding so i was excited to finally get to see a LCFC match against Burnley. fooking lost 1-0 . I was only there for about 2 weeks.. my younger bros went to see a cup match not too long after which we won..so i was lil upset about that. Anywho, i got a subscription to LCFC so i get to watch highlights and listen live....outside of LCFC i support the local Toronto FC team of the MLS....But being real, i think Hinckley United could beat them
NewquayFox Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Born on Wood Hill in The Highfields, first City Match was late 60s, Life Member in the Supporters Club, moved to Newquay in 96 and still try to get up for as many games as i can. Only ever supported City and follow Celtics progress too. ;0)
J.Lisemore Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Had no choice. Also, from Leicester so would only be right.

AMYB101_LCFC Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Well literally the same as everyone else - I've got family in Leicester. My dad was born in Leicester but moved to Bristol when he was younger and obviously met my mum so I just got introduced to Leicester City from a young age and got taken along to games and was always taught to never support 'shitty' Bristol Rovers or City! And I like supporting Leicester, I love the place and the people! I'd rather live there than in Bristol!!
Clockwork codger Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Although now living in Cambridgeshire, my grandad had a trial at city in the 20's, he was a proud city supporter, his daughter my mother is still an ardent city supporter now aged 75, I was born and mainly bred in Leicester, very vocal and loud, and also my daughter is also a very loud Leicester fan. go to as many games as we can.
martinrowland Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 No reason at all. Just started supporting them for no reason but i go to most London games and usually 2-3 games at the Walkers every season, i also go to every Brentford home game as my family are brentford fans and a few of my mates are.
manchester_foxes_fan Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 I was a Manchester united supporter n even though they were winning trophies n stuff, i was never really interested in football until I took an interest in Leicester, it was when martin was in charge, it just went on from there people always ask me why I choose to support them n I cant never seem to find an answer
Matt Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 My dad owned a shop in Hinckley, Used to get tickets for FNF games and got 'introduced' to football and Leicester that way, when I got older he then took me to proper matches, and I caught the bug, when he died my mum carried on taking me and so on. This, is the way I believe kids should be introduced into going to games, e.t.c, instead of having the childish atmosphere we have at games. I know we don't have FNF games or even reserve games/leagues so the idea and theory is stopped before it's even started, but I obviously am for kids going to games as we need them and they are the 'next generation' of LCFC fans but I just cringe at the childish atmosphere, and also a big majority of kids who go are not interested in football and just keep wanting to get up and down all the time, e.t.c, FNF/Reserve games were perfect for kids. Bring them back! -I'm not saying "Ban The Kids" but atleast make them go in the 1 stand or something People understand what I mean i'm sure, as i've seen a few people comment on the childish atmosphere/kids at game that clearly are not interested. (Probably gonna get slated for writing that now.)
samingram_uk Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Live in Kettering, told to be a leicester fan and bloody greatful for it.
Pricey Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 I lived in northamptonshire until i was 5, then decided to start supporting Leicester as i moved to North Yorkshire, could've supported anyone though i guess! Noone in the family has ever had anything to do with lcfc as far as i know.
leicesterseddon Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Granddad, dad, uncle all Leicester fans from Kettering. Not much of a choice... still glad looking back tho
Lichfieldfox. Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 I hope you've got the jist. Just because some people are born and brought up in Leicester they don't ditch their team for a more fancy one just because its easy. Born in Leicester, taken to Filbert St in 70s by my grandad and come to Walkers when I can. Leicester is in the blood from birth. So when you move away for work or family reasons no doubt you'll be an foxile too. I've got my season ticket on order so come on you foxes.
