Could be the difference between promotion/relegation/playoffs. As proved with Newcastle being relegated by 1 point this season, Tranmere/Scunny chasing the playoffs in League One, and Preston making the playoffs in the Championship. 1 point would have kept us up in the Championship when we went down. 1 point is fooking massive, HUGE!!!!! And could be crucial come the end of the season. As it would have been on all those occasions mentioned above. And i've just fooking realised they have been deducted it from this season which makes no difference I assumed they would start on -1 next season Either way, 1 point is still crucial, just not on this occasion

Ford Super Sunday Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Kinell man, the football authorities can't win can they. A team isn't punished when everyone else wants them to be, they are lambasted. A team is punished to the letter of the law, it is seen as pointless, and are lambasted. They were punished, the point they gained was deducted. it made no difference, end of, everyone accept it and move on. It also sends not only a warning to Palace not to do it again, but to every other team, and perhaps a team that will go up or stay up by a point next season, a point which will realy matter to them.

I did edit my post very quickly, obviously not quick enough I didn't actually read the link before posting, just naturally assumed they would start on -1 next season, as deducting them 1 point this season makes no difference. Yet the tards at the football league have done it anyway

Presumably they've known about this for a while but it's taken time to go through. It's pointless but they still need to do it because them's the rules and if they ignored it for being admittedly pointless it'd set a dangerous precedent. Administration and ineligible players are entirely different circumstances.
