Little Nicky Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Great news there! I don't wish to be the voice of doom, but we've only offered Dion a contract, he has yet to accept it! I found this out this morning at work, I also heard Sheehan will be on the bench for Sunday's game and Dawson may get some part to play as he's in the travelling party i believe!
Stuliasz Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Have these players actually just been told they can go or are they no longer at the club? If so I'm slightly concerned about the team for Sunday!
BartonFox Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Yip it's on the OS and there is a quote saying they will not be involved on Sunday.
SilverFox Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Also Dawson hasn't signed anything yet. MA might do a Gareth Williams on us and try to steal him from under us!
Matt Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Gutted for and about Walker going! Slightly gutted about Gillespie and Nalis too but not so much as Walker! ...The rest can pretty much fuk off <----This message goes out especially to Nathan Blake I hope Levein has got some amazing signing under his belt.... I'm not slagging Levein off yet but if he fails with his signings (which I hope he doesn't for the sake of the club) he will be getting alot of slagging off from me and no doubt everyone else.
breadandcheese Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 I think you will find Levein will get a lot of slack for his signings in the Summer. Do not expect big names. Last season, Adams brought in big names (relative to the championship) - Dublin, Connolly, Wilcox, Gemmill, Gudjonnson, Williams, Tiatto, Makin. I do not think Levein will go down this route but instead try and do what Burley did in uncovering some hidden gems. I had certainly never heard of Rasiak or Idiakez until this season. Consequently, expect lots of quotes this summe along the lines of "not exactly an inspiring signing", "who the bloody hell is that?", "will he be good enough? We're not playing in the SPL"

I won't be slagging anyone off just because of their lack of fame. I'm excited about an exotic signing like Jani Sturm, but I won't praise him either before I know how he performs. But with CL's signings so far (bar maybe MDV), there's cause for some optimism

I'll give every player a chance that come in the summer, I may be a bit annoyed i've never heard or seen them before but they'll be a "nobody" when they sign the LCFC contract, If we sign David Beckham for example (Which will never ever ever ever happen) he'll be a nobody.
Ricey Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Suprised he has decided to let that many go but I suppose that was out of his hands. I'm disapointed to see Nalis and Walker, but I can see reasons for releasing or the players he has. Delighted Dion and Dawson have been offered new deals
shen Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Oh and what about Wright and Logan? Aren't their contracts expiring now too?
reynard Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 guess he had to let that many go to make the necessary savings. i also think wright and logan are out of contract and would let them both go. new keeper a priority but fear douglas is already a done deal. wonder if he will offload heath? and possibly gudjonsson. also will he want to keep kenton and moore?
FNQ Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 Ian Walker have been released after manager Craig Levein announced his retained list this lunchtime (Friday). 103915 Sod it! We're getting rid of basically the only player who actually gives a shit about the club imo.

We're getting rid of basically the only player who actually gives a shit about the club imo. 104146 That's him... the one who sat on his 'arris for 4 months with a mysterious injury collecting nigh on £200,000 for his efforts. Really cared he did <_<
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 I am gutted Ian's gone. I would have loved him to have stayed as he was my favourite player for the past few years. I hope Craig's got someone lined up who's even better, although I would like to think he didn't just get rid of Ian and had to consider other offers/factors that came in surrounding him. But to be positive it's great Dion and Dawson are going to stay, they were up in the top three players I wanted to stay. Now, let's see what Craig does over the summer - but with Sturm and Kisnorbo coming in I am feeling quite confident we should have a good season.
MADLEVEIN Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 walker was on 26 grand a week thats why he has gone and presuming stuart taylor will make the move north he will become a decent first choice goalie for us and perhaps last a four or five seasons at least giving a bit of stability in a key area. i also heard mo sylla has come from celtic on trial seemed half decent when they have played him.

Good to hear Dion and Dawson have been offered new contracts, hopefully they'll take them. I know Sheehan's down to start on Saturday but hopefully Dawson will at least be on the bench too!

MADLEVEIN Posted 6 May 2005 Posted 6 May 2005 my accountant is a board member ........trust me its 26000 a week

I suppose you'll say Elliott didn't care about LCFC either now.
Sparky Posted 7 May 2005 Posted 7 May 2005 walker was injured ! it was a bad case of carling on the knee
