Matt Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Right, I'm a cricket novice, I like the Ashes/International game but any other cricket (County, e.t.c) not really keen on and don't follow, I know the basic rules but not the 'ins and outs' of certain things. So today is the final day of this test, yeah? And we are trailing by 24 runs, It looks like Australia won't get a 2nd innings at this rate so what happens? Draw? Bit unfair that the Aussies don't have the 2nd innings though. I probably sound really thick asking that, but I don't know so hopefully someone can give me the answer.

Swann has just gone. Don't want to jinx it but i'm quite confident of a draw now! So if we went over the Aussies score would we have won the test or would it still be a draw as the Aussies didn't get a 2nd innings?

Yeah it will be a draw if England pass Australia's total and Australia don't get a second innings or if England aren't bowled out. Or if England pass Australia's total and Australia don't pass the new total set within the allocated amount of overs set for each day. Just how test match cricket works. You have five days. Thats why weather is always Englands 11th man. Shit just seen lost another wicket. Crap.
