Salieri Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 This is epic stuff! Who'd have thought it would come down to the wire at 70/5?!
Salieri Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Can't believe we pulled off the draw!!!! The Aussies must be gutted!

Edmund Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Im confident of the draw now. Amazing bet at 5/6 on betfair for the draw. Wish I put some money on. <_< Anyway at least we drew but I wouldn't get carried away, we were still outclassed and I hope the players don't get carried away but instead take confidence out of this and roll on the second test. This could hopefully take the wind out of the Aussies.
Matt Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Get in! I was quite confident of a draw, but as I don't know much about Cricket and everyone was saying "Ah we won't get the draw" stopped me from putting five quid on the draw at 5/2
Simi Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Let's just get the wickets and win the test so we can go to bed
Craig Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Let's just get the wickets and win the test so we can go to bed Night night. Beaten to it
Fox You Forest Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 The situation is made for Collingwood when he gets in, I think he'll save the test.

Also had it in a double with Vettel to win the grand prix, he came 2nd....
Joe. Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Can't believe we've done that, heroic. Yet again it's tail-enders that save ourselves from embarassment, brilliant stuff from Anderson and Monty. Got to mention Collingwood as well for steadying the quickly sinking ship. We need some big totals from the early order now, else otherwise we might not be so lucky next time.
Corky Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Oh my word, what an ending!! Superb stuff from Collingwood, only one mistake in his innings, and then Jimmy and Monty, batted without fear and saw us through.

Maybe Anderson should help Cook to bat, rather than the other way round?
TrickyTrev Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Well that was undeserved. Suppose we have been on the wrong end of enough like that over the past 12 months.
Sparky Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Well that was undeserved. Suppose we have been on the wrong end of enough like that over the past 12 months. To win a test match you need to take 20 wickets and the Aussies failed , like you say we have had our fair share those endings. Theres much to be concerned about especially the top order but to save the test in those circumstances was fantastic. Harmison or Onions WILL replace Monty for Lords
Ultra Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 A massive escape for us - although I did have doubts whether this Aussie attack would be good enough to bowl us out. All credit to Monty and Jimmy for sticking it out for the last ELEVEN overs. But Monty and Broad should still be dropped for Lord's. The English bowling attack that took part in this game isn't good enough to bowl the Aussies out once, let alone twice.

Give Onions a go and ANOTHER chance for Harmy. Swanns bowling was pretty inept too, but the fact he's a competent batsman should give him the nod over Monty.

In Cardiff he barely reached club level.

I agree Hilfenhaus (he reminds me of someone and I can't put my finger on who) apart they didn't look all that special, Hauritz won't get the same assistance from the Lords pitch and Johnson was all over the shop, plus you'd like to think some of our batsmen won't give there wickets away so easily this time round. Yeah we were the worst team easily and it was undeserved but I'm not sure why anyone wanting England to win would be bothered about that.
