Messi Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Abit early i know, but having to wait since 2006, i cant wait for it to start. And with the first few teams qualified and England on the brink, Who's your money on next summer? I actually believe that England have got a great chance next year
Jimmy Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 too early to tell, can't safely predict anything until the squads are announced, Spain could cruise the qualifying but Inesta and Xavi could get injured and miss the tournament and fook up their chances
BlueSi13 Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I reckon we'll be the most dangerous banana skin in the tournament but i can't see beyond Brazil taking the trophy against Spain in the final, am i right in saying no european nation has won the world cup outside Europe? Either way i cannot wait either C'mon England!!
purpleronnie Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Brazil or spain. I also predict England (if) will get a really tough group, law of averages must mean we will get a tough one soon.

Or Holland because of their kit
Samilktray Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Or Holland because of their kit Yeah having an Orange kit is a big factor in being able to win the world cup.
Finnegan Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Yeah having an Orange kit is a big factor in being able to win the world cup. Pretty sure he was, yknow, not being serious. Why don't you find someone else to try and assfuck for a day or two?
Samilktray Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Why don't you find someone else to try and assfuck for a day or two? Makes sense.
MarkDeVries Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 Personally, I don't think Brazil will win the World Cup. I don't think we (England) will win it either. Spain won the Euro's impressively, but yet again I don't think they will win. Im going to say Argentina.
Big Ol' Bob Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 We are going to win it. GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERWON ENGLEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD!!!

I honestly don't believe Maradona is a good enough manager to take them any further than the quarters if they do.
StanSP Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 They might not even get there!! I honestly don't believe Maradona is a good enough manager to take them any further than the quarters if they do. I can't believe they lost 6-1 to Bolivia. Okay losing to a team like that is a one-off, but not by 5 goals.
Uncle Albert Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 I can't believe they lost 6-1 to Bolivia. Okay losing to a team like that is a one-off, but not by 5 goals. In their defence so many of the players fell ill when they played Bolivia because of the altitude they played at, did effect them. Qualifying is nothing to go by when talking about the World Cup, Holland will do their usual self and fail. I will be pleased with a Semi Final place for England.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 From an outsiders point of view all things being normal no major injuries and stuff but I think England have there best chance in a long time to make it to the final under a world class manager. But all I care about is that Australia get out of the group stage again.
Tevez Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 2010 will be England's year. I'm sticking money on them to do a job.
Ultra Posted 19 June 2009 Posted 19 June 2009 If we can find a decent keeper, a right back and a striker to play alongside Rooney, who knows?

Australia vs Italy was a good match in 06 if i remember correctly.
Uncle Albert Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 If we can find a decent keeper, a right back and a striker to play alongside Rooney, who knows? A right back and a striker? Have a word with yourself. Glen Johnson is good enough and if he can seal a move to either Chelsea or Liverpool then he will improve even more playing in the Champions League and with better players. What's wrong with Heskey upfront aswell? He is doing a job for England upfront and this season hopefully Agbonlahor and Walcott can prove that they are strikers and Defoe can have a strong season and they can all cement places in the squad.

Rooney and Heskey doesn't exactly spell goals though, does it? Nor do Walcott, Abhonlahor or Defoe at international level. I mean who knows who'll be on form by next summer but England haven't had a genuinely impressive goal-scoring threat since Owen was fit, if you're honest with yourselves. I'm not saying you need one of the world's best strikers to win the world cup (you could win every game 1 - 0 with a dodgey, deflected Lampard strike for all you care no doubt) but it certainly helps.

Rooney and Heskey does spell goals, yea the competition hasnt been the best but Rooney and Emile have a good scoring partnership in this qualifying campaign. Not many of the top nations have two strikers that both perform well in a major competition, Torres and Villa did in the Euro's but when Italy won the World Cup they didnt, Brazil in 2002 had Ronaldo banging the goals in and Rivaldo scored alot from midfield. As long as one of them performs well then we will be alright, I think for goals. The good thing about England is that we have goals everywhere, there are a number of players who can score. Apart from the strikers we have Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham, Barry, J. Cole, Terry and Ferdinand who have all chipped in with goals for England. If Michael Owen can move to a Premier League team and is successful then I wouldnt be surprised if he made the World Cup squad. We will need someone with his experience, someone who know's what it takes to score in a World Cup, apart from Owen England have two other strikers with a World Cup goal to their names, not very good.
StanSP Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 Next year alot of responsibility will be on Gerrard and/or Lampard to score goals, or at least provide them. If all else fails, Fryatt's English right ?
Uncle Albert Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 If Gerrard and Lampard were both aloud to play with attacking minds then certainly they would score a few more and create more than they currently do, Gerrard was England's top scorer at the '06 World Cup.
Darkzzz_ Posted 20 June 2009 Posted 20 June 2009 Hard to call isn't it at this stage. You can be poor and get to the final. The Germans are proof of that. You can never write them off! Spain look very good and Brazil look good going forward. You can never ever rule Italy or France out either. England will fall in the semis I think, but if any man can deliver the world cup it is Fabio, he has done a remarkable job so far. Let's see.
