Fox92 Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Pearson, who saved Saints from relegation a year ago but was bombed out by ex-chairman Rupert Lowe, has fallen out with Foxes supremo Milan Mandaric. Horrid if true, because you know what Milan can do! Don't mean they haven't fell out, had a disagreement, or argument but Pearson and Milan were sitting together in the stand at Tamworth yesterday. Ok, I never really believe the news and that but, that says something, or am I reading between the lines Anyway, I wouldn't think Pearson would go back there - I mean, he has built a squad, a nice little squad, here at Leicester. Brought some great players in and that. Would he drop down a division after building up a squad here though ? ... Simon Grayson I don't think he would leave...
ob1kanobe0 Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 & Martin O'Neil is still yet to manage any of the clubs/country that you mentioned. Good enough, thats the point, even if he doesn't want to as yet.
Salieri Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Good enough, thats the point, even if he doesn't want to as yet. He may or may not be good enough, but the fact remains he hasn't been offered any of those jobs. Although why the bumbling F.A appointed McClown ahead of O'Neill when he applied is beyond me.

He said last season, that he liked the idea of trying to take a sleeping giant like Villa to the top instead of taking on an already established top club. More chance of being praised that way.

Salieri Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 If you were offered the city, and a top club job, which would you choose? I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say, but if i was a manager and was offered the chance to manage one of the "big 4" or England then i would jump at the chance of course. There's no loyalty in football, and as for what you said in a previous post about NP only leaving Leicester for one of those top jobs, i'm afraid that is nonsense.

You'd choose top 4/England over LCFC? I didn't say he'd only leave leic for top 4, im saying leic is a stepping stone to get to a top4. What good is he long term if he doesn't wana win the champions league.
DB11 Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 If you were offered the city, and a top club job, which would you choose? Top club because I'd hate to become hated by other City fans if I failed

Who wouldn't move if your salary was being quadrupled or whatever. Football players/managers are ambitious (and greedy) just like everybody else. Oh, and you did say Nige would only leave for a top 4 team/England : "He isn't thinking about anything other than becoming England/Man Utd/Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool manager via city right now"

I would rather manage city earning 10K a week than 50k/100k managing man utd. I said via city, didn't mean only city.
ob1kanobe0 Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Manage City over a top 4 club?Are you serious? I'd make NP my No.2
lildave3 Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Manage City over a top 4 club?Are you serious? Ridiculous
lou Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 My thoughts echo many others...... hes gonna get linked to 90% of manager-less clubs now due to his success here, its always the case and means nothing. Cant see him wanting to go back to the club that shit on him especially in their predicament and also having Billionaire owners isnt always a good thing... QPR anyone? I honestly believe hes got more integrity than that anyway. Hes got a job to do here and I think he will be keen to stay and prove himself before moving on.

He is learning everything there is that needs to be learnt before taking on a top flight club. Yet he is learning all this in front more than 20k fans every week who believe he can virtually do no wrong.... why anyone would want to leave that Job would be beyond me. Mark my words- NP will manage a premier league club one day ... Lets just all hope thats with Leicester City.....
Edmund Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 To be honest im more concerned of us losing NP through mandy. Lose 3 in a row and the brain dead fans start booing, we could be in for another roller-coaster of a season. I just hope this time next year were not preparing for league 1 having gone through 4 managers.
Isopen Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Saints are supposed to be lining up Stracham, Shearer, Hasselbank & Pearson according to different press stories today, going to be a bit crowded in the dug out....
Southampton Supporter Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Southampton can piss off leave our Nigel P alone I hope they go under and reform at another level Nice one... I personally would love to see NP back here at Southampton and I think we are the only club that could tempt him to drop down a level. He was gutted when Rupert hired the dutch and ditched him after keeping us up. But in my honest opinion, this will not happen. He has built a decent squad at Leicester and looking at this thread, he is loved by the fans.
Koke Posted 13 July 2009 Posted 13 July 2009 Lazy journalism - that's all it is. Saints don't have the pulling power to even invite Pearson to dinner, nevermind having talks with him. Saints need to know their fucking place in the current footballing pyramid.

I honestly believe hes got more integrity than that anyway. Hes got a job to do here and I think he will be keen to stay and prove himself before moving on. Totally agree with that. I knew that this summer would be tough. Nigel has come from virtually know where to manager a club like Leicester in the mess that they were in to get them promoted back to the championship in the first attempt. Every manager that does well in one division (and maybe the higher one as well ie, championship) will get linked with jobs around the division and within the premiership. You have only got to look at; Martinez who got Swansea promoted, did well in the championship and is now at Wigan Ferguson who got Peterborough promoted from League 2, did very well in League 1 and was wanted by QPR Di Matteo who took over from Ince at MK Dons, nearly got them promoted in the higher division and has now left for WBA. Managers (like Pearson) who got clubs promoted are then wanted by clubs at a higher level (or lower level in the case of Southampton). It always happens. But I don't think Nigel would walk out of the club. Not with him doing so well in League 1 and building a nice strong team together to have a go at the championship. Personally, I think we should start worrying if Southgate and Laws leave Middlesborough and Sheffield Wednesday respectively (I know Laws aint 'gunna leave Hillsborough but Southgate may get sacked from The Riverside with a poor start or something). Nigel was a hero at both clubs and I think if his name was to ever pop up in link with them, then thats when we should be worrying. Southampton. Why? Whats the point? Unless he support's the club (and Nigel is from Nottingham - so, no where near Southampton) he will not walk out on Leicester City to join Southampton! .... I hope What is the point in joining the club you have just left in a lower division then ourselves?? ..... Unless he has fell out with Milan
Monk Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 They've taken Pardew this morning. Ole! I don't think it was ever in any doubt.
Darkzzz_ Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Good job for Pardew to be fair, perfect chance for him to bounce back. The club is a mess in all honesty but I fancy them to come back up.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 I'm actually very surprised that they got Pardew, he is a great manager IMO.
