Hitesh Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 I fancy a change, Firefox has been annoying me for ages.Just dont wanna lose all my bookmarks n that. You know you can use Google Toolbar which holds your bookmarks whichever browser you use and also you can access them anywhere even without the toolbar installed - they are just linked to you account!
JoeyB Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 thing is with chrome isn't anything you upload theres? like they own the copyright or something?
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 July 2009 Posted 28 July 2009 http://mashable.com/2009/07/27/firefox-40/ How much do they want to be like Chrome now? Don't get me wrong, I like firefox but Chrome is wiping the floor with the competition and will only get better and better.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Chrome's incognito window is useless, unless you ctrl+shift+del everything it still saves all your cookies and password information.
Tejmal Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 I downloaded Firefox 3.5 a few ago I think Google Chrome is much faster and better
BoneDog Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 You know you can use Google Toolbar which holds your bookmarks whichever browser you use and also you can access them anywhere even without the toolbar installed - they are just linked to you account! I wish I knew that yesterday cos I uninstalled firefox and re-installed cos of a problem I thought my browser had, and ended up losing all my 200 odd bookmarks. It's a heartbreaker. I did save a file called 'bookmarks.html' from the mozilla folder in application data folder before I uninstalled but it not worked when I put it back

I know this is a bit late but for next time, use a small application called MozBackup which backs up all your Firefox data, extensions and bookmarks! Def worth it!
Webbo Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 I've noticed that since I've downloaded 3.5 that autofill doesn't work at all and the spellchecker is faulty also.
MC Prussian Posted 16 December 2009 Author Posted 16 December 2009 Well, update 3.5.5 was really bad - Firefox crashed like every five minutes and came up with cheesy "Sorry" messages. Never experienced such a bad version before. Now that 3.5.6 is out, I hope it'll no longer occur.

Never experienced such a bad version before. Now that 3.5.6 is out, I hope it'll no longer occur. Firefox has been crashing constantly for ages now. The original version was great but they've just titsed it up. Google Chrome all the way now.

davieG Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Mines been crashing out for months and it often just freezes and sits there laughing at me for ages.
MC Prussian Posted 16 December 2009 Author Posted 16 December 2009 3.5.6 still does it, stability issues not fixed. <_< Tempted to switch over to Opera or Google Chrome.
Flynny Posted 17 December 2009 Posted 17 December 2009 Google Chrome is great. Feels so much quicker somehow, no idea how or why.

MC Prussian Posted 18 December 2009 Author Posted 18 December 2009 I've now switched over to Shiretoko. In case you're wondering what it is, it's basically an updated version of Firefox especially designed for Intel-based Macs, supporting both Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard. Looking forward to a more stable browsing experience. You can find downloads here.
haraven Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 Stop flinging about Mac stuff, Alexei, we all know the future lies in the hands of Microsoft, Red Hat and Andoid.
Guest Posted 18 December 2009 Posted 18 December 2009 3.5.6 is crashing almost every session on mine at the moment, sadly I can't shift to Chrome as I have a PPC not Intel G5.

Webbo Posted 19 December 2009 Posted 19 December 2009 I've downloaded the latest up date and now I don't get those thumb nails of the sites I go on anymore.
Webbo Posted 22 December 2009 Posted 22 December 2009 I've got something now called 'sidewiki'. Does anyone know what it's for?
MC Prussian Posted 9 January 2010 Author Posted 9 January 2010 I've had it on both my work and home computer and had no problems whatsoever. 3.5.6 is crashing almost every session on mine at the moment, sadly I can't shift to Chrome as I have a PPC not Intel G5. I think I've discovered the reason for Firefox acting up: It's not yet 64bit compatible. This concerns some plug-ins on 64bit operating systems such as Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. In my case, Shockwave Flash caused a lot of commotion; trying to get online video files playing properly has become a bit of a hassle recently - even under Shiretoko. Until Mozilla release a 64bit version, it's either Google Chrome/Opera/Safari to use.
