maddog Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Nothing on the yorkshire post website <_< I just checked too, foolishly Babylon lock this thread you know you want to
Joe. Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Someone just told me that Leicester radio is reporting that the Yorkshire Evening post are reporting that Jermain Beckford is to have a medical at Leicester on Wednesday. Anybody know anything? Yeah, have a look here.
MC Prussian Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Can we close this thread, please? Why getting a player for a smashing £3m on board when he could potentially disturb the dressing room atmosphere and cause unrest? It's also not wise investing that much money when you could get two, if not three players that would help the team as a whole for the same amount.

That's not a reason for closing the thread, that's just your opinion. Some people, including myself, think Beckford would be a cracking signing.

MC Prussian Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 You doughnut. You clearly know fvck all about him. a) Not really. b) Actually, I do. I wish I could be so wise in my choice of words in regards of the second part of your statement, but I shall let it be for now. But then again, some things are just not meant to happen. Thank you and good night.
Shrenchel Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 There's just no reason for everyone to think he'd be a disruptive influence in the dressing room. By all accounts he's one of the most popular lads at Leeds. He's pretty arrogant and not the sharpest tool in the box but probably not any more so than the majority of professional footballers nowadays.
Wilkesy Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Ive heard the rumour about a medical on wednesday too. And apparently it was reported on Radio Leicester just now. Anyone heard it or anything else? Would be a great signing in my opinion.

Fosse Boy Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 I'd be very pleased if it's true. He could do a lot for this side.
foss1884 Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Not to raise anyone's hopes, but my dad was at the Ipswich game on Saturday. He was in the directors box at Portman Road as the company he works for does a sponsorship deal with the club and he had a chat with Milan (as he does at every opportunity). For whatever reason, my dad mentioned Beckford as a transfer target and Milan quite simply said: We are trying our very best, rest assured. Now i know it is not conclusive, but it is a positive sign.

The mad old sod says that about every player in the football league though! If he had been asked about Fernando Torres he would have probably said the same thing!
Legend_in_blue Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 I tell you now and I tell you this. Sign this bloke, we finish top 8 for sure. This is the IMPACT signing right here. I can sense it. You want a decent striker at this level, you pay £3 million. That's the way it is.
FilboFox Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 There's just no reason for everyone to think he'd be a disruptive influence in the dressing room. By all accounts he's one of the most popular lads at Leeds. He's pretty arrogant and not the sharpest tool in the box but probably not any more so than the majority of professional footballers nowadays. Why would you want someone like that in a team? As for comparing him to other pro players, I can't see how you can say he's no more arrogant and self-loving than others... he's a complete **** from what I've seen of him! What basis do you say he's one of the most popular lads at Leeds anyway? I'm not arguing, just curious... cause I would have thought that scrapping with Leeds fans, being sent off twice and missing crucial games and behaving like he does would seriously piss the rest of the team off... although I guess it's just taken with a pinch of salt at dirty Leeds.
casablancas Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Maybe the amount of goals this guy scores or the chances he creates with his aggressive running, would definitely aid our immobile strike force!!!!!! If he scores 22+ goals a season I dont give a fuVk what he does off pitch; why should I? I have a private life why should he not?
Toby or not Toby Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Would be a good signing I just can't see it happening myself
Bryn Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 I still say, we simply don't have £3m. It's got nothing to do with his attitude, or his ability, or our desire for a striker. We simply do not have that kind of money even with the Mattock money.
stevolcfc Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Who knows at start of season we had 10m according to milan
billyfox1 Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Who knows at start of season we had lost 10m according to milan
Guest Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Who knows at start of season we had 10m according to milan Was there ever any clear indication that the stated '£10m' was for transfers alone? I remember thinking the same myself but I'm pretty sure somebody on here put me right about it and that it wasn't £10m for transfers
Jimbo Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Someone, claiming to be a Leeds fan, posted a comment on the Mercury site yesterday that Beckford was due to have a medical. I strongly suspect it was a wind up and this is what is has led to! I really don't think we have 3 million to spend, and even if we did I don't think we'd spend it all on one player
