RizLCFC Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Two championship teams have bid for the wantaway Leeds striker, do you think one of the teams could be us? I have a strong feeling we have bid for him and I wouldn't be disappointed if that was true.

I have a strong feeling we have bid for him and I wouldn't be disappointed if that was true. I reckon it will probably be Newcastle or Boro. I don't think he is a Pearson signing personally but with his contract due to run out at the end of the season his market value will not be big so perhaps he might take a chance. If he could kick the arrogance out of him then he has a special talent for sticking the ball in the back of the net. DJ could also be used as a sweetener for the deal.
Joe. Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Probably not Newcastle given their financial state. Boro are likely though, and I think Doncaster were interested a while back.
Kilworthfox Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Probably not Newcastle given their financial state. Boro are likely though, and I think Doncaster were interested a while back. Fact of the matter is that he scores goals and can win games. I know of his attitude and temperament but sometimes for special players have to be accommodated. If we could get him for £1 mil plus incentives if we do well that would be good business IMO.
dandannieldanok Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Would be a brilliant signing although I can't see us being in for him, you're half way to promotion if you have a goalscorer of his ability.
Edmund Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Definitely not us. Will be Sheff Utd, Coventry, Doncaster or Middlesbrough. All been heavily linked with him

Yeah true, most of the best players around have an attitude about them, I think Beckford is a type of player we've lacked for years. Having said that i'd rather have Keogh
Ozwin Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need a nob head at the club and he fits the bill.

dandannieldanok Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Really? Beckford scores goals, Keogh doesn't. Exactly, I really don't get all the fuss about Keogh, Wolves' success came from decent midfielders supplying a greedy penalty box striker who scored goals; Sylvain Ebanks-Blake. Would much rather have Beckford, who is in the same mould, over Keogh.
Bryn Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I reckon Leeds would accept cash + DJ, but I don't think JB would choose us.
Ashley Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Dj going to Leeds, Beckford comming here Dj going to Leeds, Beckford comming here
Ashley Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Nothing worse than people mispelling 'comming'.Twice. I forgot it was a english lesson?
HankMarvin Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Toon target 6/1 to make move to Tyneside but deal could depend on Mike Ashley selling the club Newcastle United target Jermaine Beckford has admitted he is interested in moving to Tyneside but has warned he will move elsewhere if the club stall for much longer on making a bid. Beckford's agent, Nick Rubery told The Journal that Newcastle remain a "seriously attractive option" for his client, indicating that the Leeds forward will hold talks with the club when they eventually confirm who will be in charge of the club for next season. Skybet make Beckford an attractive looking 6/1 to move to St. James' Park, with the only doubts seemingly being how quickly the Magpies will make a move for the striker. Middlesbrough and Sheffield United are also believed to be interested in Beckford, with Leeds ready to sell the player this summer. But the Elland Road side will not sell on the cheap, despite the player being placed on the transfer list after rejecting a new deal. With Middlesbrough needing to sell players before they can buy following relegation, a move to Newcastle does seem more likely, despite Boro being favourites to sign the forward. But with Toon owner Mike Ashley's sale of the club taking longer than he wanted it to, any further delays may leave the door open for Sheffield United or another club to swoop for the player who has averaged a strikerate of more than a goal a game in spells at S****horpe and Leeds. Who will Jermaine Beckford play for after the summer transfer window closes? Prices correct at time of writing, courtesy of Skybet 4/1 - Middlesbrough 5/1 - Leeds United, any Premier League club 6/1 - Newcastle United 12/1 - QPR 14/1 - Nottingham Forest, Leicester City 16/1 - Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Reading, Sheffield United Others available on request
richardsfoxes Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Hope we dont sign him, waist of money. Unproven at this level, why pay 2M for someone when you can get someone proven at this level for nothing, who will perhaps have higher wages.
Pricey Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Hope we dont sign him, waist of money. Unproven at this level, why pay 2M for someone when you can get someone proven at this level for nothing, who will perhaps have higher wages. who are you referring to here?
Babylon Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 who are you referring to here? Probably Leroy "not actually that good" Lita.
richardsfoxes Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Well, if im being honest without us going abroad proberly our best bet. As we dont have "millions" to spend on players, that was quite obvious after the Cox saga.
MPH Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Probably not Newcastle given their financial state. Boro are likely though, and I think Doncaster were interested a while back. didnt the donny manager say the other day ' no big money buys' He said somthing about them losing 3.5m last year and needing to offset some of that with the welens money..
Mr Happy Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need a nob head at the club and he fits the bill. If we really desperately need a disruptive influence on the squad then why not just keep DJ? Well, if im being honest without us going abroad proberly our best bet. As we dont have "millions" to spend on players, that was quite obvious after the Cox saga. As for our money situation instead of buying new players why don't we use our academy products as this will surely save us money and help us in the long term.
Hackneyisblue Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 As for our money situation instead of buying new players why don't we use our academy products as this will surely save us money and help us in the long term. Perhaps because they're ACADEMY players, which generally means, young, small and not yet upto the hustle and bustle of The Championship. Perhaps you should put that idea forward to Alex Ferguson and help them save some money as well.
Samilktray Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I would fucking love it if we signed him, properly love it.
manchester_foxes_fan Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I would like him here, but he has quite a discipline problem
