This makes no sense at all!! You think he will score 10 in the championship and follow that up with 20 in the premiership!! Is there anything you say on this forum that isnt pure garbage?? Edit: And thats not even taking into account the fact we would play an extra 8 games in the championship compared to the Premiership!!!

Thats 300k a goal which is still 10x better than Mido at middlesborough (for the mathmatically challenged among you thats 3m per goal) and 9x better than shevchenko at chelsea (mathmatically challenged - 2.7m per goal)

And then you have to think about his wages - they won't be much lower than Lita's demands. So you know for sure that mattock was just over a million do you? I'll put it this way if we would have offered £1.5m for simeon jackson a couple of weeks ago nobody would of battered an eyelid so there is your first 1.5m then add the fee for mattock which i believe to be nearer 1.5m upfront and there is your £3m anyway i very much doubt if and it is a big if a bid was made it would be £3m upfront for a league one striker in the last year of his contract! And just one more point i would tend to think that we wouldnt pay lita the money he wanted not couldnt! Just because NP says we were priced out of it doesnt mean to say we didnt have the money more like we were not willing to pay him that much where as other clubs were!
MPH Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 £3 million is a big risk for someone untested in the Championship, especially with what is perceived to be a big ego and attitude. He still has a lot of attributes to offer though and I think he'd be up for playing at a higher level, his loyalty to Leeds is already questionable after the transfer request and Leeds are unlikely to mess around with the fee seeing as they could well lose him on a free at the end of the season if he doesn't sign a new contract. Sitting on the fence though at this kind of money, a signing that could go either way. well, Villa just payed 8m for someone untested in the champ and MON is thinking of starting him sraight from the off into the prem.... Its rare but it could work...
MPH Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 If we sign him it's got to give us a good chance of a playoff place.We definitely need a new striker and Beckford is probably the best option. £3m is pricy but even if he doesn't work out we could recoup most of that fee if we sell him. Anyone we sign may not work out but a player of Beckfords calibre has got to get 10 goals at least. agreed. somthing has been lacking and i couldnt out my finger on it.... i would of been happy with a top 10 finish. But if we are looking to sign a striker like Beckford i will be impressed excited and delighted.

Most sources are quoting 'just over' £1m, so why do you believe it to be closer to £1.5m? I'd like to believe we could spend £3m on someone but I just can't see it happening whilst were in the Championship under MM. Forgive me for not getting my hopes up.

And we should be able to get him cheaper. Wish Nige tried to sort out a deal, don't like it when we rely on someone who isn't ours. I understand though that he may not be able to.

Hes a good player and no doubt that NP would sort his attitude out but when his contract is up next year his price surely can't be double Cox's who was also a few years younger. I'd pay £1.5 at most.

NP has said there's not a lot of cash knocking about and we couldn't compete with Lita's 20 grand wage demands. Beckford apparently hasn't signed up in Leeds because they didn't wanna meet his 15 grand plus wage demands so where does the fook does anyone in their right mind think we're gunna find the queenies for his wages plus the 3 million transfer fee on top?! Is Milan gunna stick the million we got for Mattock on a staight-up down Gala?
