Fryatt & Bentleys

You are not wrong. Some people seem to have no idea how much players are worth. Scotland £2m with proven record in the Championship, Cox rising to £1.9m max, and a quality player, Fryatt therefore 1.5m max. Get real everyone! I am sure there must be good quality in Europe that we could pick up for £1m to £1.5m. Those are realistic prices in this credit crunch world.

As somebody has already pointed out, Jason Scotland is 30, with Fryatt being 23. Plus the fact that he's also English, would mean that he's probably worth the same, if not more than Scotland.

I think Fryatt, Howard, Campbell & Dickov are very good players if we lose them the partnership with the team would collapse. I reckon there is no need to buy any strickers for this summer as we did score a lot last season, if nothing seem to happen then in January, will buy some. I just feel that we should not split up the squad at this point.

:nono:

Fryatt has 11 goals in 81 championship appearences for us, and i think he scored about 3 of them in his first few games.

So in his last 76+ Championship games for us, he's only scored 8 goals ish.

Howard isn't really a goalscorer anyway, and won't score many.

Dickovs past it and couldn't score in League One.

Campbell could score goals like he did at Blackpool but probably won't try as he doesn't want to play for us.

We need to spend a few million on a couple of strikers at least.

agreed

I'd still sell him though if Wigan or anybody else who want to pay silly money. The fact is Matty is replaceable.

Too true, Matty IS replaceable and I'd probably make cheeky moves for somebody like Andy Keogh (who I think would score more goals playing as an out and out striker off a big targetman, than he did at Wolves) or Aaron Wilbraham at MK Dons??

We may not need any "strickers" but one or two strikers wouldn't go amiss.

Dj is shite, Dickov is well past it. Howard will be a good foil to Fryatt once more, whether Fryatt can score plenty in the Championship remains to be seen. Past experience says no, but he is an improved player since then with far better players/service around him, after last season, he more than deserves a chance to prove the doubters wrong.

Ideally, we need to sign two strikers. A goalscorer, plus a big man in the Howard mould. People have different opinions on Beckford, but whatever his personality may be, the guy scores goals, lots of them, and i'd snap him up given the chance. As for cover for Howard, not sure who at the moment, hopefully Nige has a couple of possibilities lined up...

As for the subject of this thread, i strongly doubt Wigan or any Premier League team will be in for Matty. But if they were and the price was right (i.e £3 million ish) it would have to be bye bye Matty.

Just a quick word for everyone who seems to have missed him:- Ashley Chambers was given a 4 year contract not that long ago. Why? Because Nigel Pearson knows he is quality. I saw his 15 minutes at Crystal Palace last year, he did more in that time than DJ has done for Leicester from the start. He is much better than Campbell now!

Cox has gone from a League 1 club, who cannot command as much money due to them having less. To a Championship club who cannot afford to pay what they would when they were in the Premiership.

We are a Championship club who can command a higher fee and under no pressure to sell Fryatt. Wigan are a Premiership club who have a very large turnover.

Some people have no idea how the modern transfer market works.

Most top flight teams are paying over the odds for every domestic player they sign.

Scotland is 30+ and with no disrespect to Swindon, cox was at a small club. Swindon couldn't afford to turn down upto £1.9m. The point is we can, so any bid has to make it worth while for us to accept it. Fryatt is not worth any more than £2m really, but for us to sell they would have to offer more than that.

Don't know if anyone has actually posted this but:

From OS

Aleksandar Tunchev and Matty Fryatt are not in action but they, along with Wellens, will be leaving on Sunday with the rest of the squad for an intensive training week in Slovenia.
