foxoffderby Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 I would take 2 million straight away. I would'nt. Silly money £3.0m+. Don't think hes worth that though hence the word "silly". I think is current market rate based on last season and what Cox went for hes about £1.75m. I'd turn down £2m wait for a better offer. Dont think hes going though
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 what you mean besides the small matter of Stoke wanting to recoup a large portion of the £5.5million they paid for him? way out of our league in terms of money Well, surely they wouldn't want all that back and he has a good goalscoring record in this league, he is an established player in the coca-cola championship and has played at that level for several years. Not saying we should pay £5.5million but unless we fork out something for someone we are not going to score many goals at all. I am not fully confident in Fryatt/Dickov/Campbell/Howard as the club's main strikers so paying something, not saying that much, but something for a striker needs to be quickley because we are nearing 8th August and I cannot see us scoring many goals...
StanSP Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 I've heard that Matty Fryatt is wanted new promoted Burnley along with Steve Howard. Good one. Where you hear that?
Shane Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 I've heard that Matty Fryatt is wanted new promoted Burnley along with Steve Howard. haha. great partnership in the premiership. good one burnley they'll rip up the defences with ease
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 I fully believe the Howard and Fryatt to Burnley rumour. Jesus Christ.
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 Cannot see the Burnley rumour being true as they are after Tudgay and have signed Fletcher
Finnegan Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 Wigan arn't that dumb. If they have watchd Fryatt play, they'll keep their wallets closed tighter than a straight man's arse during a gay parade. Like shelling out 5.5 for Jason Koumas who started less than half their games this season?
Samilktray Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 I hope he doesnt go there, It would completely ruin my love affair with Wigan.
Finnegan Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 I hope he doesnt go there, It would completely ruin my love affair with Wigan. Because you hate Fryatt or because you'd hate them for taking him away?
dandannieldanok Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 He'd go completely off the radar like David Connolly did when he made the move from us to Wigan. That said if there was any shred of truth in this, he cannot turn down the opportunity of Premier League football even if it is a massive risk.
Samilktray Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 Because you hate Fryatt or because you'd hate them for taking him away? Hates a bit strong Im just not a Fryatt fan.
nuneatonfox Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 Burnley are going for a few players of course Matty Fryatt & Steve Howard Damien Duff Iain Hume Kasper Smichael John Curtis
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 Burnley are going for a few playersof course Matty Fryatt & Steve Howard Damien Duff Iain Hume Kasper Smichael John Curtis That even beats the David Unsworth transfer from Sheffield United to Wigan
Babylon Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 I'd take £3m+ and nothing less from a premier league team. Yes cox went for much less, but Swindon couldn't turn that money down. We could turn £2m down, we couldn't get a like for like replacement for that really (ie. one that scored goals in the top 3 leagues last year)

I'm still not the biggest Fryatt fan personally, and I'm interested to see how he'll make the step up next season. Mandaric wouldn't accept any less than £3m for his 30+ goal striker last season anyway. Any higher than that though and he'd listen surely...
James_lcfc Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 I've heard that Matty Fryatt is wanted new promoted Burnley along with Steve Howard. That's brilliant!
Edmund Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 A rumour on football rumours has more substance than this.

James_lcfc Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 HA! I meant it's my favourite rediculous rumour....my mate's a big Burnley fan and I know how gutted he'd be if they signed Fryatt! They're in the Prem not League 1
FleckneyFox Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 Worried about this. I wouldnt be but the fact that hes not in the squads tomorrow seems unusual. I would only sell if we received an offer around £3.5/4 million so we had money to go and buy ourselves 2 strikers.

They are only paying 2 million for scotland who was one of the top scorer is the championship. Can't see us getting 3 million but i may be wrong.
Asha Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 They are only paying 2 million for scotland who was one of the top scorer is the championship. Can't see us getting 3 million but i may be wrong. I think you're right there. If they value Scotland, a player Martinez had worked with and the top scorer in the championship at 2 million, there's no way they'll value Fryatt at more than that. To be honest, neither would I.
FleckneyFox Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 They are only paying 2 million for scotland who was one of the top scorer is the championship. Can't see us getting 3 million but i may be wrong. Well we need a striker anyway even if Fryatt is around so we will have to make them pay over the odds if they want him. Afterall they are a Premier League club. Also Jason Scotland is 30, I think Fryatt is 23.
artursteppe Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 They are only paying 2 million for scotland who was one of the top scorer is the championship. Can't see us getting 3 million but i may be wrong. You are not wrong. Some people seem to have no idea how much players are worth. Scotland £2m with proven record in the Championship, Cox rising to £1.9m max, and a quality player, Fryatt therefore 1.5m max. Get real everyone! I am sure there must be good quality in Europe that we could pick up for £1m to £1.5m. Those are realistic prices in this credit crunch world. Just a quick word for everyone who seems to have missed him:- Ashley Chambers was given a 4 year contract not that long ago. Why? Because Nigel Pearson knows he is quality. I saw his 15 minutes at Crystal Palace last year, he did more in that time than DJ has done for Leicester from the start. He is much better than Campbell now!
