Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 I seem to remember he gave good display against us at home last year. Probably a good signing to be fair.
CosbehFox Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 Him and Howard in the same team? Exactly. The guy's a grade a nob.
dandannieldanok Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 Isn't he about 38? We don't need another goalkeeper.
SamL Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 Isn't he about 38? We don't need another goalkeeper. He's 31.
theoxonfox Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 You gotta be kidding!ive seen this philips guy twice and he's a 'flapper',no thanks, theres better to be found.
Joe. Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 No chance he'd come here. He's still cowering after his meet with Steve.
dandannieldanok Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 He's 31. Ah rite ok, don't know where I got that from then.
Dan Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 As back-up then fair enough, but theres no way he will be in for Weale, and who was this so called 'quality keeper' we're after mentioned on the phone in?
JoeyB Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 As back-up then fair enough, but theres no way he will be in for Weale, and who was this so called 'quality keeper' we're after mentioned on the phone in? Fabien Barthez!
Hackneyisblue Posted 4 August 2009 Author Posted 4 August 2009 Isn't he about 38? We don't need another goalkeeper. We do need another goalkeeper
Fox92 Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Seems to have a good game against us and most probably a good back up goalkeeper although cannot see why we need one if Logan is now staying. If he was to come, we would have Weale from Bristol City and Steve Philips who has played for both Bristol Rovers and Bristol City.
Hitesh Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 conrad must be on his way.... Possibly but I doubt it after Pearson said he was improving in training so to suggest one of two things: He is prepared to give him a chance as a backup OR he is player naming in the press to alert other clubs to maybe come in for him?!
dandannieldanok Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 We do need another goalkeeper No we don't: Weale, Logan, Pentney. The club doesn't need to waste their time in the final week before the season chasing something we don't need.

The club doesn't need to waste their time in the final week before the season chasing something we don't need. Altogether kids 'Ohhh yes we dooooo!' I don't think either of those are particularly rated, and what happens if Weale gets injured? We broke about 6 goalies last season and had to keep getting another on loan. Do you think that a good way of ensuring clean sheets by having a new goalie every month? Defenders like to know what a goalie is likely to do.
RowlattsFox Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 If at some point we need a keeper then we'll get one on loan, I don't think we should be spending money bringing a new keeper when other areas are a priority currently. I wouldn't want to have to use Logan this season though.
dilko2008 Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 i have seen pentney once against Swindon where yeah he made a few good saves the first time i seen him he had a knightmere against Quorn Pearson obviously thinks Logan is Number2 on the Phillips theme he is a solid keeper from what i have seen of him over the years!

This. Surely Pentney would be decent back-up to Weale? And this.
Hackneyisblue Posted 4 August 2009 Author Posted 4 August 2009 I somehow doubt that NFP is sitting there thinking to himself 'a goalie or a new striker which will it be' If he doesn't think that the two in the stiffs are good enough then let's get another goalie in. Where is the harm? I think some of you have got a bit caught up on signing a striker and think that has to be done at the expense of strengthening the defense and midfield. If NFP thinks ther are good defenders and midfielders currently available who will add depth to the squad then lets get them in.

Where on earth have you got the idea that NP is not happy with the current keepers, just because you aren't happy with them doesn't mean he isn't. Pearson brought Weale in as number one, and he brought Logan back into the squad as number 2. We've got Pentney in reserve so why would we need another keeper? Of course you could get injuries but that is what the loan system is for.

If that is the case will everyone please stop worrying about the lack of strikers, we'll just get a loan one in if Howard or Fryatt get injured. And the reason I don't think they are good enough is because NFP appears to be looking for another one, in NFP I trust. We'll just get one in on loan
