JoeyB Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Ling resigns as Cambridge managerMartin Ling Ling became Cambridge manager just nine days ago Cambridge United manager Martin Ling has resigned from his position after only nine days in the job. The club have cited "irreconcilable differences between Martin Ling and chairman George Rolls" as the reason. A club statement said: "The club has reluctantly accepted his resignation. It has been agreed that neither party will make any further statement." Ling replaced Gary Brabin, who left following a deterioration of his relationship with the board on 13 July. It is believed the Cambridge players were informed on Tuesday morning of Ling's resignation. Ling, who signed a three-year deal with Cambridge, should have led the team in their opening Blue Square Premier match of the season against Barrow on Saturday. Link
Jon the Hat Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Good effort. My old boss got appointed as the Chief Executive of the Football League and lasted about that long. It takes some brilliance to achieve such a quick exit.
davieG Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Sounds like they've got big problems and board level with 2 managers leaving after differences of opinion with the Chairman/board
Edmund Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Sounds like they've got big problems and board level with 2 managers leaving after differences of opinion with the Chairman/board How did you come to that conclusion?
davieG Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 How did you come to that conclusion? Just one step up from "This"
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 They have some behind the scenes problems. Ling I don't rate anyway, but it reminds me of when Coppel went to Man City and how many days did he last? Bit longer I think
Fosse Boy Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 The club were stupid for sacking Brabin in the first place, the chairman's obviously a bit of a twat. BOUNCE! BOUNCE! AMBER ARMY!
Bryn Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Always been a believer that a chairman should be seen but not heard. You ever heard a club be consistently successful with an interfering chairman in this country?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Ling back at Cambridge. What a mess this seems to be. They did win last night though, which is good news no doubt.
Guest Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Obviously just fancied a week off and there wasn't any holiday available
Trumpet Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Big problems at that club! Thank God it's not our club that's in a mess!!
Toby or not Toby Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Strange, have they got a new chairman? I read where Julian Dicks was being linked with the job, cant remember where though
Hitesh Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Strange, have they got a new chairman? I read where Julian Dicks was being linked with the job, cant remember where though The chairman resigned a few days after Ling went and now the people left there persuaded Ling to return. Not sure about Dicks though.
Flynny Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 Ling is being controlled by some guy in a massive game of football manager who's adding him to another club repeatedly to cheat on his transfer budget. Obviously.
Monk Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 They probably just called him Haddock or something by mistake.
Fosse Boy Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 Strange, have they got a new chairman? I read where Julian Dicks was being linked with the job, cant remember where though That's interesting, he's currently in his first managerial job at Wivenhoe Town in Essex, my local side.
