Also IMPORTANT QUESTION: Just got my U18 ticket through the post and there's no real stub on it, just a barcode on the right hand side. Both edges seem serated too. Are everyone's tickets like this? I take it there's electronic turnstiles...

Yes, your ticket is fine as there are electronic turnstiles in operation.
