Mr Happy Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 this is awful. I'm sure if the club knew about this they would not be happy, how unprofesional Surely if us 'normal' folk started slagging off our places of work we'd get the sack quicker than you can say 'Well if your unhappy you know where the door is' Sappleton should be happy he has the chance to earn huge wages. He should take this opportunity to show us he has talent and play league football or he should shut up and get a job like the rest of us.
Bryn Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Whilst spreading it all over Facebook is a bit childish and unprofessional, am I the only one who doesn't blame the lad? He was brought in by a clueless manager who in turn was brought out by a clueless chairman. He was young, we were probably the biggest club in for him and at the time it looked like there'd be room for him. Now the situation has changed drastically and he is indeed wasting his career here. Whilst that's not our fault, it's still true and bound to be frustrating. Furthermore, the player isn't exactly slagging us off, is he? In fact, he's clearly noting that it was his bad decision to come to Leicester, which was probably never going to be his level. Which to my mind is a relatively mature comment to make.
lavrentis Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Fair point. I mean, i'd be scared of someone called C-unit. Ha Ha Haaa. I used to know a C-unit. Hard as nails they were.
JJ Whisper Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Its still very unprofessional to post it all over facebook, personally my feet wouldn't touch the floor if work found me posting anything more harsh than work was shit today...I work with idiots.......(my last 3 weeks worth of status updates) like that on facebook or twitter
ACF Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 I might email the club about this.... but I don't have FaceyB so wouldnt be able to see what he said exactly...
Guest Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Right, everybody knows the situation regarding mattock, a 19 year old who betrays his 'home club' to go to a club that defines mediocre (i think he jogged past me on hinckley road today, should've kicked him over). As a 19 year old city fan I can confirm that I personally WOULDN'T leave city for a club other than one that one that was offering me 40 virgins a night (see what i did there?) But you're thinking as a fan, and not someone who has chosen to work in the game. You don't have advisors or agents, and the carrot that is money dangling in front of your nose. The days of playing for one team are long gone.
Guest Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 This was the funniest bit of the Facebook transcript for me Ricky Sappletontake a wild guest
Sir Fynwy Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Sapps really only needs to look at Trevor Benjamins career after Leicester to see where he's going. I honestly think he's already played at the highest level he'll hit and it's all downhill now, it's a shame for a lad who had big dreams but over 75% of 16 year old players at league clubs never get a pro contract in the first place.
Zingari Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 But you're thinking as a fan, and not someone who has chosen to work in the game. Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 A Sappletone status update isn't complete without a potshot at Leicester / the endless downward spiral he's on that will result in a Vauxhall Motors appearance soon enough. It's like he's trapped and I think it's fucking hilarious. "Someone get me out of here!" Nobber. *Edit - Just realised I spelt Sappleton wrong, but that does sound like a telecoms company. Sappletone.
lou Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Coming here didnt ruin his career........ not being good enough did! Nuff said
Toby or not Toby Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Saw him comment someones status on sunday saying he was on holiday at the min, so wasn't even in the country for the first game
Guest Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Saw him comment someones status on sunday saying he was on holiday at the min, so wasn't even in the country for the first game Apart from Smuts I don't think anyone, including Nige, rates him so I'd guess he'd be nowhere near the first team anyway. Although you are correct, as an indication of his attitude it's awful
kam6 Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 What a cock! Just been reading the above and i must say, if this is true, he should be reported! Be f**king greatfull that you are at a club Sapps. There was apparent interesting in the boy from "premiership clubs" when we went in for him. Have some respect, if you dont want to be here, ask NP for a transfer and we'll send you to blue square!

If he's so bothered about being here he can always request that city cancel his contract and move on as a free agent, guess that he realises he has no chance of getting a contract anywhere even if he is available free!
Jon the Hat Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 If the lad had anything about him at all he would at the very least arrange a loan deal at a L2 club and prove himself. Clearly he doesn't have the confidence in his ability that his arrogance would suggest. Anyone got Nigel's email address? Get some screenshots and send it to the club.
lou Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 Cant believe he can be this stupid to post stuff like that on a public forum that pretty much anyone can see (most of them accept friend requests from anyone!) Must know hes got no chance of ever playing here.

About time someone said something fair and decent. I like the lad anyway, so I'll sympathise with him anyway, but all hes saying is that he regrets joining us for his career, hes not saying he thinks he should be playing for Man Yoo week in week out, just wants to play football I'd imagine.
Dr The Singh Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 He probably knows as Jon said that he's not good enough, obviously lacks self belief but instead of adventuring somewhere else, is putting on a 'front' and making out it's city's fault and wants out!! Personally, I believe we should leave it be, Pearson has bigger fish to fry then a dispondant youth team player!!
Munzie Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 What an idiot. Do the youth of today learn nothing? Not so long ago, most footballers should have taken note of the high profile gaff by Darren Bent on such sites. Sappleton is nowhere near (and probably never will be) as high profile as Bent, but surely he realises that if he puts something like that out for public view it has the potential to come back and bite him on the arse. Given his inability to be even mentioned anywhere near our first team, this will knock his so-called career back a few years. No wonder he wishes he was 16 again! As I say, what an idiot. You deserve what you get Mr Sappleton.
Fox92 Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 I thought he was meant to be something special and the next big thing, ecspecially playing for Queens Park Rangers at the age of what 16/17 on some occasions. Then again, he was a signing made by Martin Allen and remember the rest of them? What do they (Sappleton and many more) moan for? Most people would give an arm and a leg to be in his position. Unprofessional to say the least, if he has done this.

I was thinking that and was reminded of the other two very good young QPR prospects, Ray Jones and Kian (SP?) Prince (granted they were both better players) - BOTH DEAD in their teens and maybe he should think about that and realise how lucky he is.

Daggers Posted 12 August 2009 Posted 12 August 2009 If he's so bothered about being here he can always request that city cancel his contract and move on as a free agent, guess that he realises he has no chance of getting a contract anywhere even if he is available free! Two weeks ago there were over 1,000 unattached players still seeking a club and a contract (according to the PFA website). Sappleton can whine like a little eBitch all he wants but we all appreciate the simple truth - this is as good as it ever gets for him within the game. No one he went on loan to or was offered to wants him. You have teams like Darlo cancelling friendlies because of illness hitting their squad which they are financially unable to bolster even if they wanted to. He isn't Blue Square Premier material, this is his last full-time contract: He needs to shut the fuck up, get his head down and do some prep work for his career outside football.
