Bert Posted 15 August 2009 Posted 15 August 2009 Love him or hate him, if only everyone was as passionate as Warnock, football would be even better than it already is!
Edmund Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Love him or hate him, if only everyone was as passionate as Warnock, football would be even better than it already is! I agree. I use to never be a fan but over the years he has grown on me. Fairplay to him for standing up to prove a point and I actually felt sorry for him and Palace today. How the referee didn't see that we will never know.
Sparky Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Ref , both linesman and 4th official need to be spoke to by the FA. Can all four honestly claim they never saw the ball go in ? Crazy
davieG Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Diabolical - but I have no sympathy for Warnock, the man is a hypocrite, didn't he once try get his players sent off and to feign injury in order to get a game abandon. He'd kill his Grandma if it got him 3 points - fair do's if that's the way he wants to play it but he shouldn't winge when it goes against him.

I like the way the Bristol City player got the hump when Warnock refused to shake his hand at the end. What did he seriously expect? I dislike Warnock immensely, but the decision yesterday by the ref and linesman was appalling. I'd hope we wouldn't do the same but Bristol City's sporting behaviour was wrong.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 I found it hilairious when Simon Jordan came on SSN and claimed that Bristol City were cheating. It is one of the most dreadfully unlucky things I have ever seen but what did he actually expect them to do?
Matt Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 There needs to be something sorted to aid referees and assistants, I do understand TV Replays, and if it goes your favour (As it did for Bristol) take the debate and discussion away from the game but something needs sorting, Mistakes have always been made by referees but it just seems it getting more and more common in todays game and its not right. We all understand referee's have a hard job but the it's hard to respect the officials when they make such decisions.

I'm sure it's no worse it's just that now every game is recorded and from many angles, there's also a lot more air time on TV for people to scrutinise and comment on it. This being the case I think it's inevitable that replays for certain incidents will eventually come as the technology improves. What chance the referees actually carrying their own replay kit In the past it would have just been a talking point amongst the fans but no one would be able to prove categorically that it had happened.

Exactly. If this had happened in a second division game 10 years ago then few people apart from palace and bristol city fans would have been aware of it.
Bert Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 What an absolute disgrace it was. All of the Palace players run off and celebrate. The Bristol City players start walking back to their positions, one even puts his hands on his head! How are you supposed to respect officials if they can't get things like this right? I bet Warnock ends up getting put before a disciplinary hearing too.
Jay Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 The refs should simply never referee again. he is right though it was clearly a goal the linesman could have seen it, the fourth official could have seen it the ref was on the edge of the penalty box, the players reactions on both sides showed it was a goal all of the officials bottled it and should never officiate again
acooling08 Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Bristol should have done what we did at Forest and let them get their deserved goal. EDIT: Who removed my dog-shag-puke sig?
Granno Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 It's all well and good having a laugh at Warnock, but that's fooking disgraceful. They should never referee again, simple as. 2009 and we still have gaffes like that.
Father Ted Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Fooking love it! And as for the 89th minute winner for Brizzle!! @ Warnock!

They don't need technology, all it needed was the Bristol City players to say "it was a goal". If the Palace players could see that, then it would be bizarre to think that they couldn't. Given that there is so much technology these days, and it must have occurred to them that the 'mistake' would be easily picked up, it just makes Bristol City look like a bunch of c words.
Jay Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 I would be interested to know what the Bristol players were pointing and shouting at the officials about in the corner being honest or trying to kid the officials
AMYB101_LCFC Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 I would be interested to know what the Bristol players were pointing and shouting at the officials about in the corner being honest or trying to kid the officials That's what I want to know.
Bert Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Fooking love it! And as for the 89th minute winner for Brizzle!! @ Warnock! Twat. I'm sure you'd say exactly the same if that had have happened to us.
Simi Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Agreed with everything Warnock said in his interview with the BBC. There would be no point in asking for the game to be replayed, they're Crystal Palace. Can only begin to imagine the reaction of the Chelsea players should it have happened to them. I thought considering the situation, Palace handled themselves well!
Basingstoke Fox Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Bristol City just got on with it. If a team did let Palace score after then they should get the utmost respect. However, I don't think that it should be expected from Bristol City to go and tell the ref it was a goal. It is not cheating to just carry on with it, the referee made the mistake and Bristol City just got on with it, they could have done something very good in letting Palace have a goal but I don't think they actually did anything wrong. Most teams would have done the same thing.
Uncle Albert Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 I laughed when I first heard about it because it's Neil Warnock but that is disgusting, if a Referee and a linesman cannot see that the ball has gone in then they have no place in football. Neil Warnock and Crystal Palace done well to keep their emotions limited like they did to be fair, I could just imagine Fergie's or Wenger's reaction to that.
