Babylon Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 I expect he'll get at least one against Barnsley. Even with an unfit Fryatt and N'Guessan filling in upfront, I thought we'd win fairly well. But with Gallagher wanting to impress, and "maybe" Kermorgant playing too, Barnsley are gonna get battered, at least 3-0.Interesting to watch how the strikers get rotated now. Obviously Waghorn is likely to be used as a super-sub. 0-1 it is then...
flanimal Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 4-1 actually. Gallagher to get at least two. 3-0 by halftime, we slack off in the second half, give a penalty away which Hume scores, then get another goal in the last 10 minutes. If this happens, remind me to buy a lottery ticket.
tewkesbury-fox Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 well pleased with this signing NP has been a good judge of players so far....
Lillehamring Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Textbook flanimal perhaps we should change his user name to flip-flop-flanimal.... ...i've neevr heard of gallagher, i just keep thinking of: ...but it'll be good for him if he starts, rather than sitting around waiting to get a chance... i'm guessing he'll get an assist and hit the post
Matt Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 A new player thread wouldn't be complete without some youtube footage
barmy76uk Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Roll on 2nd September. "Heard a whisper". "A rumour doing the rounds". State a source or bugger off. tit
Salieri Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Pleased with this signing. Keep up the good work Nige.
Babylon Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 I'm suprised you're pleased with it. Didn't take 20 pages of speculation this time. I don't think he was happy to start with.
MPH Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 0-1 it is then... I could make a prediction if you like? the Live chat gang love my predictions...
Superpants82 Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Leicester City have signed striker Paul Gallagher from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s Championship clash with Barnsley at the Walkers Stadium and will wear the No.24 jersey. Gallagher has come through the ranks at Ewood Park but has struggled to establish himself in Lancashire. He and has spent two spells on loan at Stoke City, plus time with Preston North End and, last season, Plymouth Argyle.
willchafer Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 great signing got double figures on both his loan spells in the championship i am confident he can do it again. good one nige (Y)
bluebeau Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Have faith & trust in The Messiah......NP rules OK!
L.C.F.C. Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Don't know too much about him, and not gonna judge him until i've seen him play, but is a career scoring rate of 1 goal every 5 games worrying??? <_< I guess once again it needs to be - "In Nigel we Trust"
STUHILL Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Gallagher is a player I've wanted us to sign for years! I see him as real quality. Anything around the million mark is good business in my eyes. I know some of you are dubious because of his record and failure to properly breakthrough into Blackburns first team but I`m very confident he will be a big hit with us and can make a real difference to our promotion push. I may be over optimistic but could be signing of the window so far! Although Wellens is looking good for that so far! Hopefully he hits the ground running against Barnsley! Small mention to Pearson and staff - Excellent work once again!!
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Don't know too much about him, and not gonna judge him until i've seen him play, but is a career scoring rate of 1 goal every 5 games worrying??? <_< I guess once again it needs to be - "In Nigel we Trust" Ok.But in which division is that ratio.
flanimal Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 I don't suppose Kermorgant has much chance of being signed in time to play against Barnsley?
carterfox90 Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 never really heard much about the guy so will wait to judge bound to have agood start tomorrow as most of our new signings always start of with a good game but i trust in NP
Guest shearfox Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Don't know too much about him, and not gonna judge him until i've seen him play, but is a career scoring rate of 1 goal every 5 games worrying??? <_< I guess once again it needs to be - "In Nigel we Trust" To be fair to him he never had a decent run out at Blackburn rarely got starts so a lot of those games aren't starts.... Also if i'm not mistaken he has played a lot of games out of position out on the wing. 13 goals last season in this division isn't bad for a somewhat struggling team, he will get chances here and i'm sure he will score us goals but i also hear he can create chances too....
lookwhaticando Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Pro:- Technical ability - very good. Mark Hughes rated him as the best striker of a ball at Rovers a year or two back. He has decent close control, a good first touch, useful crossing ability and can make thunderous and accurate connection with a ball. (Think, in terms of technical ability, David Bentley). - Will score some spectacular long range goals. - Good vision - he will stand out by making some defence splitting passes. - Has played a number of positions, so he can be described as versatile. So far, he has played striker, right midfield, left midfield (at Stoke under that Belgian (?) manager that was crap) and central midfield. He is right footed. Did Louis Dodds change his name recently?
Stuliasz Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 While his goalscoring record is decent (not prolific), he may be just the type of striker we need to take the focus off Fryatt. I can see him chipping in more goals over the course of the season than Howard and his style of play may well bring Fryatt goals in a similar way to Howard. I'd like to see one of our strikers working the channels a bit more and maybe Gallagher is that man. Something was needed anyway and if anyone can get the best out of him, in Nige we trust.
