ozleicester Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 You've got to remember this wasn't our first team. Wellens' absence was clearly felt, and I highly doubt Hobbs or Brown would have made the mistake Tunchev did for their first goal. Blasphemerrrr ?
Ford Super Sunday Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Disappointed but not despondant The main reason I don't feel too bad is because Preston are a good team, and tonight we saw that. They're unbeaten this season remember, and are qute a tasty outfit this term. That's the level at which we need to aspire to really. we have been awesome so far, but lets reach that level, so we really can make a top 6 push We weren't at full strength, and I think it's clear for all to see that Wellens has to be first choice in the centre now, and Paul Gallagher needs to learn how to jump. Other than that, let's move on and focus on the league. Cup run would have been nice. But let's use the time from now until the FA Cup to solidify our place in the top half of the table, and match some of the best teams in the CCC. And if we're feeling fun, let's have a run in the FA cup istead. Good night, although I wasnt feeling very well. Still had some good back of the stand fun with Granno and NSLL. (we want our dagger back ))
cecchini Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 However you dress it we lost. Preston are not a prem side and we will have to beat them this season - twice. I agree that the league cup is "not a major priority" but we have won it 3 times in the past, and to lose to a side in the same division is dissapointing. I hope it does not affect the teams confidence.
Ikon_Klow Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Not that bothered really. I would have liked to see Gradel get some action as I am worried that he is being left out a bit too much now. NP is clearly not that convinced. It was never going to be a quick return for Tunch. Major knee surgery takes time and he simply needs matches under his belt but not sure when he is going to get those. Morrison has the potential to be a good player for this club but he is going to have to learn to concentrate. He needs a confident partner at the back with him and Tunch probably could not offer this last night which is understandable. If Brown and Hobbs stay fit Morrison might benefit from a short term loan to keep his development going as he will clearly be 4th choice CB and potentially 2nd choice RB or even 3rd behind O'Neil. Looking at Powell I think we probably may now not add to the left back position. I potentially thought that with Man City adding Sylvinho to their ranks me might make a move for McGivern to compete with Bruno. We move on. I think NP is building a quality competitive side that we can hopefully continue to be proud of once again. Yes there is still some dead wood to remove (Dickov) bu in NP I trust. Fingers crossed for Newcastle. Up the Foxes.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Any ideas on why Tunch was wank?? Lack of match practise or just gone off the boil....
JoeyB Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Tunchev slipped.... Didn't he? Looked to me as though he just completely missed his interception... frpm what i have just seen on ssn it looks like he completly messed up his intercption.
irDeano Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Quite impressed with how we played in the first half, shame didn't see much of kermit it was a perfect opportunity to play him and get him match fit - i can't imagine he'd play against newcastle personally. Defence was quite poor but really pleased with how weale did in goal, without him we would've conceded a lot more! Looking forward to playing preston in the league - should be a good game with a first team defence and wellens back in midfield (hopefully they won't get injured) and maybe then we can beat them.
crazylegs1984 Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 oh my i do apoligise shen , i didnt realise this was a english lesson i do apoligise my dyslexia ruins your night reading on the forum. maybe what your saying is people with learning difficulties shouldnt be allowed to post on public forums or maybe you are like the many who at school enjoys bullying to make yourself feel better. carterfox90 Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 in a way it may be a blessing in disguise a reality check for the team that they can be beat after our great season last year we did know what defeat was really so it may just make us stronger & determined not to be beaten again & it was not our first team playing. it sounded like weale had a great game tunchev is still getting match fit so if it was a mistake by him then it only goes to show he is human after all
BedsFox Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Started like a house on fire again, well on top The equaliser showed how rusty Tunchev is, unsurprisingly. Generally Morrison/Tunchev looked a lot less secure than Hobbs/Brown Was disappointed how unthreatening we looked second half. Miss Howard badly as Gally and Fryatt are in essence the same player (type of player) N'Guessan was poor most of the night, Oakley had a disappointing game, King anonymous going forward though did a lot of the defensive midfield stuff well Weale was tremendous A disappointment, though I am sure NP will have learnt a few things from giving some squad members a game here
Criggers Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 I am not surprised to lose to Preston and again I am another fan who isn't that bothered about it. Looking at the team sheet it doesn't look like Pearson cared either. Dickov getting a game is confuAsing, especially as even though we know the situation with DJ something like this may have been a good chance to put him "in the window" - a goal or so here might have pursuaded someone - but never mind. Tunch getting a game is good even if he did mess up, and the from what i can make out the rest of the team either confirmed in or out of the first team. Adams must surely start against Newcastle. I would have liked to see some more Kermit action cos I was looking forward to the possibility of a Kermit/Fryatt start up front against the toons.

Will Waghorn be back for that game I guess?
maddog Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 It's the morning after the night before and what was a truly dismal performance from most of the City players out there. Which was a shame because we played like Barcelona for the first 15 minutes and if only we were more clinical up front we would have killed the game very early on. We totally dominated and i certainly thought we would roll them over after scoring so early on. But then just a total lack of concentration allowed the Preston player run 20 yards with the ball, he should never have been allowed anywhere near the box but was, then a shocker from Tunchev who had a very poor game by his standards allowed them in and eventually score. We should never have given away the lead so quickly, they didn't deserve it and it totally changed the game. From then on we struggled to create chances and the few openings created were missed chances, once again Fryatt squandered a few. We then couldn't get the ball 2nd half and Preston deserved the win, but the shocking defending continuted to allow the free header. Andy King, all he ever does in run around in empty space, pass the ball backwards, or give the ball away, totally ineffective and shouldn't even be playing at this level. Matt Oakley, i was slightly worried with his pre-match comments about the cup, but it showed that he wasn't bothered and i lost count of the amount of passes he played straight to their player, he had a fooking nightmare and didn't make a pass all night. Dany N'Guessan, looked out of his depth for this one, really struggled with the pace of the game, and couldn't provide any attacking threat at all, a real shame for him. Tunchev, whether he's lost his touch after injury, lacking match practice, unfit or just had a shocker, he certainly won't be getting back in the side in the League any time soon with that performance. Morrison, Similar to Tunchev really, poor. The only positives to take out the game was luckily it wasn't our first choice team. We seriously missed Hobbs, Brown, Wellens and Howard. The only good performances were Chrissy Powell, Nicky Adams, and a stunning game from Wheale. Kermo looked good when he came on and won our first header of the night pretty much with his first touch, had he been on the end of the Fryatt fluffed header he probably would have scored. Dyer wasn't great and Dickov pointless. Gallagher played well too showed some great touches passing and threat going forward, could be another gem of a signing by NP. Very annoyed with the result and the way it happened, lets hope we bounce back at Newcastle
lcfc_jme Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 I think you may have been sat behind me tonight. From hearing a Joe, a Dave, a maybe a Potter and also the guy in the yellow shirt from the 'lads with fresh styles' thread .... was it you shouting "gooooon" whenever Neilson touched the ball? What was all that about? Hahah, that was me sir.. All stems from remarks made about a certain Mr. Neilson by another member of our playing staff one Sunday night out in Leicester.. As for the game, the only players who even remotely impressed me were Adams, Powell and Weale. The rest were, on the whole, ranging from 'meh' to 'oh my word he looks fucking useless'. Adams was lively, Powell is a Man-Mountain and Weale made some incredible saves, most notably from point-blank range at 1-1. Oakley wasn't as bad as he's being made out on here, he had a decent enough game I thought, tried to make things happen with minimal movement infront of him. N'Guessan was absolutely shocking and I have no idea why we'd pay money for him judging by that performance (admittedly it's the first time I've seen him so meh). King was pretty much non-existant for the most-part, Goon was unspectacular, Morrison looked very shaky and Tunch was unbelievably far off the pace. Definitely at fault for goal number one, and made other mistakes which on another day would have been very costly. Gall showed glimpses of quality, but was ultimately as wasteful and ineffective as anyone else. Fryatt ran and looked threatening at times, but lacked killer instinct (a pound for every time, eh..). Kermit won one header when he came on, other than that did nothing (again, first time he's been seen and didn't get long on a lacklustre night) and Dickov should be taken out the back and shot. Argued with players as soon as he came on, and then inexplicably kicked the ball away in time added on when it was Prestons freekick. The man is a worthless cunt who offers nothing to our team. I'd rather play Bruno Berner upfront.
lcfc_jme Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Oh, and I forgot to add, whoever (and I know it's someone on here) tried to be a WuM by trying to sing "We want our Dagger back": Epic. Fail.

Phlashman Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Should have stayed at home... the pies were shit. It was a bad sign when they came still in a plastic bag! Truely the worst pie I've ever had at football. Even worse than Chelsea's 'Molten Lead' pie. Game - Meh, I think we'll beat them if we played our first team. Stadium - Meh. Their Fans - Crap. Our fans - did I hear "Gary megson is your dad!" as a chant?
Guest Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Should have stayed at home... the pies were shit. I had eaten very little all day in preparation for a good, old-fashioned Northern football pie, and it disappointed me greatly. I felt sick after eating that, which I had to do seeing as I had saved myself for it. Contrary to some reports I've read, I thought it was a pretty even game, both sides having chances, but it wasn't the classic I thought it was going to be after the first two goals. King and Oakley in the middle doesn't really work, we saw that last season. My overall impression was that we weren't really trying and if we had got through, it would be a bonus. This disappoints me greatly, as I like to see the best team that we have available trying its hardest.

Guest Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 which pie did you have, I had the meat & potato 1 and it was nice. Same, but mine was cold and undercooked.
davieG Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Steve Pumfrey thought the pies were ok: There was also the chicken balti pie – with top marks from the away-ground catering judges.

Basingstoke Fox Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 PNEs first goal was shit but that was a fantastic header. Adams goal was a beaut in all.
dypatel06 Posted 28 August 2009 Posted 28 August 2009 We tried playing alot of football in our own half but didnt make much when we were in the attacking half. As soon as we got under pressure a little we just passed it back to the keeper and we just hoofed it up and we dont have any height up front without Howard. But at least were not just hoofing it up every attack and trying to play football !!
