Joe. Posted 3 September 2009 Posted 3 September 2009 Well Gradel needs first team football for international reasons and Leicester need him to be match sharp and without reserve matches how does he get this? Not saying its Southampton, but!!!! So he is being lined up for a loan move then?

dandannieldanok Posted 3 September 2009 Posted 3 September 2009 Can't see this happening and I can't see how it helps Gradel or the club. Gradel's proved himself at that level over the last 2 seasons the last thing he needs is another 4 months at that level. As for us we need him not only as back up but to give Pearson the opportuinty to have a variety of options to select from. We need a squad this size if we're to do any goodin this league. Agreed, I wouldn't be happy to see Gradel loaned out even though I'm not his biggest fan. Apart from being a bigger physical presence, I wouldn't say Dany N'Guessan is a far better option than Gradel. We need competition for places to ensure there is no complacency.
davieG Posted 3 September 2009 Posted 3 September 2009 Well Gradel needs first team football for international reasons and Leicester need him to be match sharp and without reserve matches how does he get this? Not saying its Southampton, but!!!! Well they should do the right thing and have a proper reserve set up, I can't see that the cost of it is significant they've still got to pay the players and coaching staff. If they aspire to be a Premier club they should at least, from a playing perspective act like one. I've no major problem loaning out players as part of their development but doing so just to keep them fit is not the right way. How much more experience does Gradel need at L1 level - none. like most people learning their trade he needs to be stretched at that can only come from playing at Championship level. Either he's part of the squad or he isn't.
Thracian Posted 3 September 2009 Posted 3 September 2009 As I said last season it's increasingly hard to see any of our young players progressing to the first team. Mattock has already gone, Gradel and King have become bit part players and it wouldn't surprise me if both leave before the start of next season at the latest. Partly it's because the bar has been lifted but there's also the need for Pearson to find space in the team for his own signings. It's far easier to leave an Academy graduate out than a newly signed senior and, with our pathetically limited reserves set-up, it's difficult to see how any home grown players will get the chance to shine anyway. Take Luke O'Neill. His performance against Macclesfield was as good as I've seen from a City right-back this season but he didn't even play in the defeat against Preston and, with the signing of Neilson (whatever his form) it is hard to see where O'Neill's next game is coming from. If Gradel did move to Southampton I could well see him enjoying it. They loved him at Bournemouth and Southampton, despite their troubles, do have a reputation for playing or wanting to play his kind of attacking football. It might also prove to be his level though I, for one, still have faith in him. He's certainly not looked at his best in the cameos he's been given so far this season - any more than King.

Fosse Boy Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 Get Steve Guppy back over here from Canada and get him to spend four months teaching Gradel how to cross would be a better idea. Running and beating a man is no good if you've got no end product, which blighted some otherwise good performances from him last season. :w00t: That would be awesome.

Either he's part of the squad or he isn't. Couldn't agree more. You've only got to see the players coming into the first team to see the difference in match sharpness. This was evident last season when members of our squad came into the team through injury. It's evident with players coming back from injury (like Kisnorbo last season).

So the short term gain will help those investing monies who are here for the short term (less than 5 years) Players wages are another way easy to cut. You get rid of the high earners and do not sign players above a budget the club sets. Even if that means we pay about the same in wages as Swindon and thus lose the player. This will also mean that it is hard to get quality players to Leicester. Selling the training ground(top building land) and then renting a field out in the sticks is another quick income leap. Then any new investor would look at the books and things would not seem too bad.

I's like ever business and government these days short termism, let's make a quick buckkudos for ourselves is the aim and bollocks to those who come later. Doesn't make it right and the future could get mighty bleak for today's children. I still can't see that they are saving that much the overheads and fixed costs of players, facilities, kits, coaches, medical staff are all still there.

I wouldnt loan Gradel out though, I think he is a useful assset, who like King needs to be patient to get his chance.
JoeyB Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 can see King and Gradel both being farmed out for a 1 or 3 month loan with a recall on them
morris1234 Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 whether he goes or not, i think you need a winger like gradel in that league! watching the charlton game now just proves how players like lloyd sam and lloyd dyer (all the lloyds!) can change the game and really create chances in that league!
Edmund Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Southampton to be relegated? Even without the 10 point deduction they would be sitting in 22nd (relegation) on 4 points. Shocking start to the season.
ACF Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 Knowitalls back Shame the windows shut now See, that was his plan to shut up his critics. Everyone wanted him back, and he comes back at the end of the transfer window when nothings happening! He really is a genius.

Fact I have been back sometime and have been sending private messages to some who have never had a go at me. I have told them about Yann and Ryan before it was official. Did not tell about Paul Gallagher as it was done too quick. Here I am again defending myself. I give in.

You don't have to defend yourself though. Us more common posters know that you are a 100% reliable source and then you get someone who hasn't been here long and has a go. Just ignore them and as you have said, you post on here to keep us informed and that's how we like it Keep posting! BTW, have we ever been in contact with any Serbian players?
Samilktray Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 Have we ever been in touch with any Angolan players KIA? Failing that any players from Equatorial Guinea?
Joe. Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 I'm personally hoping for some fresh Uzbekistan talent off the continent.
