Sparky Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Saw them twice over the summer , Wembley stadium in July and what could be thier last ever gig at V Festival last saturday suppose that will be something to tell the grandkids. Although dissapointed i am looking forward to hearing Noels solo stuff
Babylon Posted 29 August 2009 Author Posted 29 August 2009 A message from Noel: "Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning. As of last Friday the 28th August, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock'n'roll pop group Oasis. The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new. I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who'd paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I'm afraid it's all I've got. While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise - although I don't know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren't up to it. In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I'll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories. Now, if you'll excuse me I have a family and a football team to indulge. I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a ****' pleasure. Thanks very much. Goodbye. NG."
Guest Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Thank Christ! (and by Christ, I don't mean Noel or Liam, Ash17whatsisface)
Babylon Posted 29 August 2009 Author Posted 29 August 2009 what, again? The first one was an "I quit".... second statement has a bit more detail.
grth2004 Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 thank god for that , please no more oasis they are probaly the most boring band in the world. i do like noel but liam is a twat who cant even sing
Lillehamring Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 hva som helst they're desparate to try and make this monumental, but it's all a bit painful to watch... i mean there ain't gonna be screaming girls like when robbie left take that.... should have done it two albums back, then it might have had the drama that they are so desparate for... granted they were huge, but i think even most of their fans are only really interested in the music now, rather than the band, i mean most of the band are just hired in session musicians and it's hard to get emotional about that... as others have said on here, as long as noel keeps putting out stuff, it's effectively business as usual
MPH Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 The first one was an "I quit".... second statement has a bit more detail. what i mean was havnt they been walking out on each other for 4-5 years now?

MPH Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 im not an aggressive person in real life.... i have only ever hit someone in anger once in my whole life. He hit me first. but i tell you somthing.. every time i see Liam walking around, pushing people out of the way because he thinks he is so great... i would love nothing more than to walk up to him , punch him so hard and break his nose.... he just annoys me SO much
Lillehamring Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 It's painful to watch you make out that they are trying to make it monumental. but they are, it's totally apparent and i understand why they're doing it, even if, as i say, they've kinda missed the boat... several posters have said this same without putting as much thought into their posts, why do you feel the need to make a childish remark everytime i post on oasis - it's not like i'm the only one who is saying what i'm saying and i think my post in this thread was very balanced. if you aren't interested in discussing a subject where people have a different perspective why don't you just leave it to those of us who are... i think oasis are a great case study in music 'business', as i think they are probably the most marketed and 'designed' band going - surely you can see that every thing they do and say is geared up for maximum commercial possibilities.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 they're desparate to try and make this monumental, but it's all a bit painful to watch...i mean there ain't gonna be screaming girls like when robbie left take that.... should have done it two albums back, then it might have had the drama that they are so desparate for... granted they were huge, but i think even most of their fans are only really interested in the music now, rather than the band, i mean most of the band are just hired in session musicians and it's hard to get emotional about that... as others have said on here, as long as noel keeps putting out stuff, it's effectively business as usual Its has been painful to watch if you love Oasis and have grew up listening to them. Why would ending on Heathen Chemistry be any better ?! End of the day, its not like they have planned this. Noel has had enough and i don't blame him for splitting up Oasis. You're a bitter old man.
Uncle Albert Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 I have to agree with everything Hugo Sanchez has said, I personally think it's abit sad at people laughing at Oasis splitting up to be honest but each to their own and all that shizzle. They are the best band to come through in Britain since The Beatles for making music. Fact. I can see Noel's reason's for leaving the band, I don't think anyone could put up with Liam for the amount of time Noel has especially being on tour with each other for the amount of time they have recently. Didnt know until I read earlier that Noel refuses to let Liam see his son because of something Liam said about Noel's daughter, which was a pretty horrible thing to say by Liam. One thing for sure is that Oasis will not be the same without Noel. Oasis will be much missed in Britain and around the world, I for one hope they make a comeback in a few years time.
Samilktray Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 People can argue all they want over Oasis, them splitting up isnt a big thing I dont think... Its not as if there fans are short of Oasis music to listen to and enjoy. People coming in here and slagging them off is just pointless, Im pretty sure I've done it in the past but meh, I dont see any point anymore to be honest.

Yeh he basically said that she isn't Noel's daughter I think.
Uncle Albert Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 Yeh he basically said that she isn't Noel's daughter I think. Yeah was reading the story in the NOTW but you can never be quite sure if they are telling the truth or not.
Fox92 Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 This was going to happen one way or another I mean their always falling out. They reached their peak a few years ago and that's about it but they will never be as big as The Beatles like some say. Still, good band and another good english songwriter (or two ) to go down in the books which is always nice to see - got to be in the top 10 off all time I think, thats off the top of my head. I have to agree with everything Hugo Sanchez has said, I personally think it's abit sad at people laughing at Oasis splitting up to be honest but each to their own and all that shizzle. They are the best band to come through in Britain since The Beatles for making music. Fact. Sorry but I have got to disagree with that - The Jam and The Who are both better groups than Oasis, I mean The Jam were the first band after The Beatles to go into the charts at number one to number one. Also bands that were around when The Beatles were around include The Small Faces and ecspecially The Kinks who are also better than Oasis.

I'm not gonna say your wrong here because music is about having a opinion but Oasis are a complete different generation to The Kinks, The Who and The Small Faces ( all great bands and Noel loves all 3 covering their songs). Oasis are the biggest band of our time, maybe not the best but the biggest to come along since The Beatles. Definitely Maybe, Whats The Story and Be Here Now was the peak of their career. No band since has came close to their success and maybe won't anytime soon. Oasis have a big loyal fan base and could sell any arena/stadium out in europe in a matter of seconds. People will argue here by saying The Smiths, Stone Roses, The Jam, Blur, The Clash or maybe even The Libertines where better then Oasis but Oasis are a bigger band who have more followers through out the country. They came at a time when American rock was the mainstream and proved that British rock and roll will always be the best. I'm not saying Oasis were the best musican because they clearly wasn't but what talent they did have they maximized to the best they could and made very good albums and songs what are still popular in this day and age. Noel Gallagher love him or hate him, will always have his place in music for being a icon, legend and funny man. LIVEFORVER

I can name you one band that have far more well known songs than Oasis, have a bigger selling album than Oasis and were selling out stadiums long before Oasis and that is Queen! I am not a fan but in terms of making music they are clearly ahead of Oasis the shear amount of songs they have that a non fan would know the songs towers over Oasis. Queen wrote some absolute monster tunes and were musically superior to Oasis if you look at each of there back catalogues it's pretty easy to see they streets ahead of Oasis so to neglect them is just crazy And I am not fan of either band but it's obvious to me

You're a bitter old man. no i'm not, i'm just irreverently and interstedly discussing the music industry... i feel bad for the fans but as i quite reasonably suggested, for a lot it was mainly about noels songwriting, which will continue long after oasis... what's bitter about that, play fair... I have to agree with everything Hugo Sanchez has said, I personally think it's abit sad at people laughing at Oasis splitting up to be honest but each to their own and all that shizzle. Its not as if there fans are short of Oasis music to listen to and enjoy.People coming in here and slagging them off is just pointless, Im pretty sure I've done it in the past but meh, I dont see any point anymore to be honest. as i said -underwhelmed- and, for the record, i haven't 'argued', i simply discussed the effects and impact of this news, important as it is - babylon is the only one who has tried to turn this into anything more than a sensible exchange of ideas and opinion
Flynny Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 At the end of that day musical greatness comes from the people whose lives you touch and change with your music - I don't think anyone is going to argue that Oasis didn't do that on a massive scale.

I can give facts and all that and so can you but its not gonna prove who is wrong or right. Queen are a great band, no denying that but their song i would say weren't as good as Oasis were.
Flynny Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 People really think Queen and Oasis are in the same league? Queen are a kitsch 80's band with a couple of stompers whose status was elevated by Mercury's death. At worst, I think a lot of Oasis's stuff is stuck in a creative rut and a bit samey, - I think some of Queen's stuff is absolutely fucking dire. Radio Gaga? I mean really... My only real problem with Oasis is my incredulity that people involved in something as fundamentally artistic and introspective as music could be such boorish cunts sometimes.
