Leicester City may go into transfer market

Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare has not ruled out more comings and goings at the Walkers Stadium.

Any dealings will have to be struck before the transfer deadline window shuts at 5pm on Tuesday.

After the signings of strikers Paul Gallagher last week and Yann Kermorgant on Monday, Paul Dickov was yesterday allowed to join Derby County on loan until January and striker Ricky Sappleton headed to Macclesfield on loan until the end of December.

While Shakespeare said there was nothing immediately in the pipeline, he did not rule out some business being conducted before the transfer window closes.

"There is nothing to report at the moment, but you know what it can be like," he said.

TIN.adverts.adWriteDC('article-detail-impact-tile', '452x118'); 1x1.GIF "In football it can happen within an hour and it can be done.

"At the moment we have no comings in and goings out, but it could change."

Shakespeare said Dickov was allowed to join rivals Derby after becoming frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities, but said it did not mean the end for the 37-year-old, who will not be eligible to face City when the two sides meet at the Walkers Stadium.

"Derby showed an interest and Paul has been disappointed he hasn't had the minutes on the pitch he would have liked," said Shakespeare.

"The form of the centre forwards and the fact we have brought in Paul Gallagher and Yann Kermorgant has restricted his playing time.

"He has been a very good influence around the dressing room and not one iota of a problem. When he gets on the pitch he can be a problem for the defenders, but he has been as good as gold.

"We have to try and keep his aspirations up there and it will be good for both sides. He is only going until January and, if he can get some games and some goals, then it will be good for both of us. Then we will reassess it in January."

City could have both Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn back for Monday night's trip to face Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Both are doing well as they battle back from hamstring injuries, and Howard in particular is keen to face the club he supported as a boy.

However, Shakespeare said they would not take any unnecessary risks with either of the strikers.

"We are hopeful both will be able to take some part in training over the next couple of days but, at this stage it is a bit early to say whether they will play," he said.

I'd say the only weaknes in our team at the moment is cover for RB and GK. Morrison did alright at right-back against Swansea, but it isn't his natural position so we just need backup in thise two positions.

To be honest, we have good cover in all areas and I'm perfectly happy with Morrison or O'Neill playing right-back. I wouldn't mind us bringing in another centre-midfielder though.

Would like stockdale back as cover

ok at rightback we have morrison and o'neil

would like another at left back to provide competition with bruno even though o'neil can play there i prefer him on the right

overall quite happy with what we've got

I see this as just saying that if a good opportunity comes up, they will take it; not that they are actively searching for someone. That's just the way I read it.

I would agree but I see GK as a higher priority. We have O'Neil coming through who hasnt done any thing wrong and he is good back up, as for GK, Earson must have faith in Logan or he is looking to get one in fast.

I don't see the need for another keeper at this present time, Any keeper we bring in will inevitably know they are coming to bench warm as Weale has been solid so far and is obviously first choice. We have a back up keeper who has experience at this level and is happy to bench warm as he tries to earn his place in the city squad.
