Bluefoxtim Posted 17 September 2009 Posted 17 September 2009 I think we would all agree that there are probably five times as many 'casual' City fans compared to the Tigers. I know plently of people who support City but never go, whereas nearly all the rugby fans I know, do actually go.
Guest Posted 17 September 2009 Posted 17 September 2009 You can stick it for me. And the rugby was shit when I watched too, against Sale last season. Tigers couldn't pass, couldn't catch, couldn't kick and the only chant I heard was some ignoramus shouting "Come on Tigrrrrrrrsss" in my earhole every 30 seconds. Can't remember what the score was cos I was so disinterested in the end. They literally only ever do 2 chants, 'tis true
Unit Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 The new tigers ground looks wicked and it's only going to get better, the new stand is the second biggest single teir in britain only to Liverpools Kop. Not bad. I'm going in a couple of weeks because my dad can't use his season ticket for a couple of games, should be fun.
BlueSi13 Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 Somebody made a comment earlier about people outside Leicester referring to us as a rugby city, but im sorry, im well travelled and i have never once heard anyone call us a rugby city, but then again i can honestly say ive met very few rugby fans around the country, its nowhere near as popular as people that follow the game think it is, except in Wales maybe Decent following for a niche sport though i guess

dandannieldanok Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 English club rugby's always boring, mun, you want to watch a proper league. And yes, English rugby fans are even worse than what's going on on the pitch. I'm sure even Milky, Sparky and Dandaniel can admit the crowds are generally dull. The most inventive chant I ever heard from the Tigers fans was away at the Stoop when they managed "Ole, ole, ole, ole, Tiiiiigers, Tiiiiiigers." I was so amused! Doesn't stop it being a good little ground, though. Stick some football fans in there and it'd hold in some rawcus noise. I think the average age of the fanbase is the main reason why atmospheres aren't great, just walk down near the ground on matchday and you will see countless pensioners with their Tiger's cushions (not a criticism btw), but in comparison to the Walkers the atmosphere at Welford Road isn't that bad. There's a buzz at Welford Road that cannot be replicated at the Walkers purely because of the Crumbie stand and everyone is close to the action. As you say, chants don't really get off the ground to say the least! In all honesty, you can't really compare atmospheres because the fanbases are different and rivalries are nowhere near as pronounced within crowds.
purpleronnie Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 Rugby league however can generate good atmospheres.
Ashley Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 Welford Road will have nothing on the Walkers Stadium if we win the bid to host the 2018 World Cup here Welford Road does look good tho from the artist impressions of what it'll look like when it's finished.
Samilktray Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 The new Tigers stand alone shits on the Walkers Stadium. Watched it go up week by week whilst I was at college last year, went back yesterday and it looks class.

dandannieldanok Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 They literally only ever do 2 chants, 'tis true Same with the Walkers though, the only chants heard in bulk are the terrible "stand up if you love Leicester" and "come on Leicester". Any other chants/song can't be heard because literally only about 100/200 people sing.

Finnegan Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 Nothing like getting behind ones club eh, no wonder most city fans i know despair at this forum You don't have to be blindly deluded to get behind your club.
dandannieldanok Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 Nothing like getting behind ones club eh, no wonder most city fans i know despair at this forum it's not a complaint, just saying it as it is. I just don't think it's fair people chiding the Tiger's support when City's at home is the same. Neither home support is particularly vocal but that doesn't mean the support is poor and that goes for both clubs.
Shrenchel Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 It really does. True say. Same with the Walkers though, the only chants heard in bulk are the terrible "stand up if you love Leicester" and "come on Leicester". Any other chants/song can't be heard because literally only about 100/200 people sing. What bollocks. Far more than that in L/K/N.
Unit Posted 19 September 2009 Posted 19 September 2009 btw, anybody who hasn't got sky but wants to watch the match it's on Sky 3 on freeview.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 September 2009 Posted 19 September 2009 btw, anybody who hasn't got sky but wants to watch the match it's on Sky 3 on freeview. Yer I'm doing that, it's pretty dull so far, Leicester just don't want to keep hold of the ball.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 September 2009 Posted 19 September 2009 Another try-less game and another disappointing display, poor game. If this carries on and I was a season-ticket holder, I'd be distraught because there's no inspiration. Tigers have always been a bit like this, solid and stodgy but never before have they struggled so much to force a try from somewhere. Early days though.
Sparky Posted 19 September 2009 Posted 19 September 2009 Another try-less game and another disappointing display, poor game. If this carries on and I was a season-ticket holder, I'd be distraught because there's no inspiration. Tigers have always been a bit like this, solid and stodgy but never before have they struggled so much to force a try from somewhere. Early days though. They will be fine, still missing Flood, Tuilagi, Hipkiss and few others. It will soon click
Finnegan Posted 19 September 2009 Posted 19 September 2009 Could be worse. You could be a 'Spreys fan. PS: If you want to watch a proper game, http://www.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=...amp;part=sports live on S4C!

As Sparky says, when the star players return, things will start to click..
C-man Posted 19 September 2009 Posted 19 September 2009 Not a fan of the increased traffic. Took me 40 mins to get from town to Oadby as the game was finished.
