suffolk fox Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Of course it's difficult for an Italian to play in the EPL. Moreover Mancini was 36 at that time. Word of warning see above re our last big, big signing from Italy.
Aleksz Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Sweet Jesus of Nazareth. 41 Pages over Edgar Davids get a grip people.

cecchini Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 OK Football shirt lettering: EDGAR FOOOKING DAVIDS imagine that in the refs book!
Ozwin Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Yeah that's what I mean, usually they're midweek not on matchday. It has to be big FOOKING news. And EDGAR 4 KING DAVIDS on my shirt.
MikeyT Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Maybe the press conference is about Mandaric selling.

Bluefoxtim Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Yeah that's what I mean, usually they're midweek not on matchday. It has to be big FOOKING news. And EDGAR 4 KING DAVIDS on my shirt. But we are playing a match on Monday, and given that Sunday is the day of the rest, the press conference for Reading would be on Saturday. Hopefully I'm completely wrong and Davids arrives by helicopter and gives a 10 minute speech on how we are going to win the title.

ian_marshall Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Someone clearly has a sense of humour looking at Edgar Davids current Wikipedia profile: Edgar Steven Davids (born 13 March 1973) is a Dutch professional footballer. He plays as a defensive midfielder who most recently played for AFC Ajax. After beginning his professional career with Ajax, he played for AC Milan, Juventus, FC Barcelona, Internazionale, Tottenham Hotspur before returning to the Amsterdam club. Davids has glaucoma, which requires him to wear protective goggles during football matches. His dreadlocked hair and his protective eye wear make Davids one of the most recognizable footballers of his generation. Edgar Davids recently shocked the world by deciding to join Championship Club Leicester City. Upon arrivng at the walkers stadium, Edgar was quoted as saying 'Leicester are one of the proudest clubs in the English game, their history massively interested me. When Milan told me he guranteed me champion leagues football in 4 years and the signing of Zinedine Zidane in January, i simply couldn't say no. Even if i am taking a slight pay cut, going down to only 37,000 per week'[1][2] Davids was one of the players chosen by Pelé to be featured in the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living footballers. Shane Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Firstly, If davids signs surely the team has to change? The players too? Anyway.. heres what i think The striking situation is really giving me a headache, and im sure its giving NP a headache too. If Davids signs it surely points to a 3-man midfield? You cant drop Oakley as hes captain, and Davids doesnt want to be a bench warmer & Wellens has done nothing wrong. Or as some have suggested in other topics, put Oakley at right back and bring in King as King doesnt deserve to be dropped either. Now with a 3 man midfield, a 3-5-2 or anything with 3 center backs is out of the question, as NP wouldnt play that if thats the last option he had and we'd probably get raped all over if we tried that formation out. So could it be some formation such as 4-3-3, with 2 wingers and 1 striker, but who would that striker be? Howard? Hes too slow to play upfront on his own and needs players to link off him for him to be any use at all. Fryatt? Kermo? Campbell? Waghorn? Gallagher? All the other strikers are too lightweight to play on there own, so if were going to deploy a 3 man midfield, surely the 1 man upfront is no use to us.. Or, Oakley can go on the right where hes fooking useless and we go back to 4-4-2, with Oakley, Davids, Wellens, Dyer/N'guessan/Adams on the left... I fear thats what NP's going to go with, and leave young Kingy on the bench, although hes been doing alright the last few games. Now, with Davids coming in it wont effect the defence at all, so the defence will probably stay the same. And then theres another possibility... something that could be of use to us. (This is just my opinion here) Right, we cant drop King after his performances, nor Gallagher after his display against Palace. We cant drop Wellens, as hes been good for us all season, and Oakley cant be dropped either as hes our captain (although he deserves to be dropped). If Davids comes king is the most likely player to make way. But we could... do this, which ive suggested in other topics for the matchday starting 11. Weale Oakley Hobbs Brown Berner King Davids Wellens Gallagher Kermo/Campbell/Howard Fryatt/Waghorn 4-3-1-2 formation, could actually work for us. However the only down fall to this formation is the width of the side, so for width it would really depend on the two fullbacks, and also Gallagher working hard in that free role, with Davids sitting infront of the back four and tidying up like he use to do back in his day, and also bringing others into play. Now, back to the striking situation.. Who the hell do we play? Fryatt is our top scorer, but hasnt scored in 5 games and has missed alot of chances this season.. But he can score goals, given the right service. Waghorn definately deserves the full 90 minutes, due to his work ethic this season, and also his performances. Campbell has done well coming of the bench and has really turned some fans over as he seems to be wanting to fight for his place at the moment, and good on him to be honest. And also, Kermo > Howard. Howard is getting on a bit, although he wins everything in the air, hes not scoring.. and he needs to start chipping in, until he starts chipping in im sticking by my statement: Kermo > Howard. Personally, id play Fryatt & Waghorn with Gallagher getting the balls behind the defenders, im sure we'd get more goals then were getting right now. And maybe use, Campbell & Kermo as impact subs. Yes i know i havnt mentioned stevie here, but quite frankly... hes getting pretty useless. If Davids comes, its going to disrupt the team entirely. Yes its "EDGAR FOOKING DAVIDS" but, does NP leave this star out whos going to be on 30k a week or whatever, or does he play him, and start to change his formation to fit Davids in? Whatever NP decides, if Davids signs.. its going to be a tough decision. NP doesnt usually play the three in midfield, but it could suit Gallagher in that free role and if im right he played there against watford and destroyed them? (If im wrong, please say). This is all IF... IF... IF... Edgar Fooking Davids comes. Discuss, tehehehehe. And yes i know he hasnt signed yet, but this is just to add to the excitement of.. EDGAR FOOKING DAVIDS AT LEICESTER!!!!!!!!
Fox92 Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 That team has no width again, and Pearson isn't going to drop Oakley because he's captain, and I'd rather eat glass than see him at full back.
Shane Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 That team has no width again, and Pearson isn't going to drop Oakley because he's captain, and I'd rather eat glass than see him at full back. Oakley at right back... although looking back at it, Morrison doesnt deserve to be dropped either... God damnit... Is Davids really worth all this hassle?
Fox92 Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Oakley at right back... although looking back at it, Morrison doesnt deserve to be dropped either... God damnit... Is Davids really worth all this hassle? I don't think anyone knows.
