Webbo Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 Following something KIA said in the Max Gradel thread, is it most important to win and be boring or to entertain and risk losing? Personally winning is the most important for me (for clubs our size anyway). What does everybody else think? PS if a kindly mod would like to add a poll that'd be nice.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 Playing well without winning always leaves me feeling a bit empty, like I should be happy but deep down I'm niggled by the fact we haven't won (e.g. Ipswich and Sheffield United away this season), but winning without playing well sometimes has a similar effect, not celebrating a win as much as I would normally (Crystal Palace at home). Playing poorly but battling to a win is brilliant (Reading). Outplaying a supposedly brilliant side to win away from home is the mutts' nuts (QPR). In summary, winning is more important. However, I think a lot of teams are demonstrating this season that you can play pretty football in this league and still do well - there aren't many poor passing sides in the top half at the moment. I think it's turning out to be an entertaining league, led by the likes of QPR and Cardiff but there are others that aren't far behind, who are getting results like ourselves and Forest did this weekend against those teams without resorting to hoofing the ball forward or kicking the opposition off the park.
StanSP Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 For now would be to get the wins. Nothing stopping us from being entertaining whilst we are comfortably winning, but make sure it's in the bag first.
maddog Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 Playing well is most important, and if you play well, you will win a lot of games. We're not an entertaining side as such, and never have been, but seeing us playing well like at QPR is entertaining in itself.
C-man Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 Winning if you're a side like Leicester but entertainment if you're a mid-table Prem team. I wouldn't pay £35 to see Stoke every week but I'd definitely pay that to watch Spurs.
TrickyTrev Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 “The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory." Danny Blanchflower Anyone who doubts this should ask themselves whether they'd be happy with us signing Marlon King and him scoring the goals to get us into the Premiership.

Part Of The Crowd Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 Winning, entertaining is for the clubs who can afford to do it. Both bring fans out of the woodwork who couldn't give a flying fook about the club.

Guest Bilo Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 Winning is everything as you don't win a thing for being entertaining losers. The 93 play-off final was more entertaining than 94, but I know which one I preferred to watch.
Katy Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 Winning creates confidence within the team, which in turn filters out to the fans. I find it fairly soul destroying to play brilliantly and lose, I don't think there's anything worse really.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 Playing entertaining football and losing wont gain you promotion
LCFC-ARAB Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 Deffinate win Can't thing of any time i have walked away from a game that we've won and been pissed off cause we didnt play well
Matt Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 Both, but Winning comes first, the performance comes second as far as i'm concerned, If you play shit and lose atleast you deserved to lose, If you play well and lose that's just frustrating and we as Leicester fans has seen us playing well and losing. Win.
CosbehFox Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 I have a differing opinion on this. I believe that given the greed and money flying about the top half of the Premiership, it's going to become increasingly hard to reach any of the heights we have previously. So I wouldn't mind at all watching an entertaining team who develop players and have the odd up and down, decent cup run every now again. Do I realistically think Leicester could win every game? No, not even at this level. Do I think we could be becoming a solid, profit-making, fostering club who will have the odd bit of success every now again? Yes and you have to feel the bad to appreciate the good sometimes. With Football costing x amount, I want to be entertained more than just pleased with it.
leicesterfox86 Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Winning. Every time. Anyone who says different is kidding themselves.
