Bert Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 The Wigan Players are personally goig to be refunding every fan that went to their game against Spurs yesterday. Some consolation at least.
Guest Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Fair enough. They should be embarrassed to be honest
dandannieldanok Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Lucky buggers, they got to see 10 goals and they're getting a refund!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Whats 25 x £40 for a ticket plus travel? It's a lot less than the players are getting paid by mystrious asain business men wanting the wigan players to secure a result for them!
Guest Bilo Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Scant consolation really. The money isn't really the issue, that's been shown by the fact the fans were willing to buy tickets and travel in the first place. I'd still be pissed off by the humiliation and lack of effort if our lot put in a display like that.
lavrentis Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Wigan aren't great travellers so it wont be a huge dent in their pockets.

I'd still be pissed off by the humiliation and lack of effort if our lot put in a display like that. To be fair Spurs were on fire. I doubt anyone would've beaten them on Sunday. I dunno how many shots they had but it seemed they were firing from all angles. Could easily have been 15-1.
Tommeh Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 I'd probably rather be in attendance of a 9-1 hammering than a 2-0 defeat no desire to win shown. Could imagine if it happened to us a decent amount of banter would have been exchanged and some fans may chill out and enjoy themselves for once. Decent gesture mind.

Decent gesture mind. Imagine the reaction on here!! And to be fair, if I'd travelled all the way from Wigan down to London, I'd want my ticket money and my travel money back after that performance. Biut of a waste of a journey to be honest.

Manwell Pablo Posted 24 November 2009 Posted 24 November 2009 Think I read somewhere it's costing them 15 grand between them. Which is nothing to them.
lou Posted 24 November 2009 Posted 24 November 2009 It might not be a lot of money to the players but I still think its a nice gesture. They dont have to do it. I havent heard of other teams doing this, theres been plenty of equally embarrassing displays over the years, regardless of the scoreline.
purpleronnie Posted 24 November 2009 Posted 24 November 2009 Think I read somewhere it's costing them 15 grand between them.Which is nothing to them. Mirror states 40 grand. Nice gesture, lucky for them wigan dont travel in big numbers.

I havent heard of other teams doing this, theres been plenty of equally embarrassing displays over the years, regardless of the scoreline. This. And not only that I'm sure Spurs pocket all the money from the gates so it's not as if Wigan the club were profiting from the display. Nice gesture, lucky for them wigan dont travel in big numbers. Apparently this was quite a big following considering it's Wigan. Not sure on numbers though.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 24 November 2009 Posted 24 November 2009 Small black man nets five and not a name check in sight. Of course if it had been one over rated midget WHITE twitchy goal hanger who cacks himself at one on one's we'd have an entire thread demanding his inclusion in the English World Cup squad. And it's the likes of you that calls the likes of me a 'casual racist.'

Tevez Posted 24 November 2009 Posted 24 November 2009 Wigan are terrible. Crap club punching above there weight, but Melchiot has a cracking length!

Ford Super Sunday Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 I was reading on another forum about a Liverpool fan, he was saying how we went to the game, and sat in the Wigan end as a nuetral. So he gets to see 10 goals, without the agony and pain of watching 9 sail past his team, and he gets a refund. What a weekend!

In all fairness though, Defoe was on fire! Wigans defending was awul though, so many one and one opportunity's, twas ridularse.
