Bugg Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 I put him on mine. Spec savers? My mistake, I must have missed the name when I was reading through the list of players.
BoneDog Posted 11 April 2010 Posted 11 April 2010 I was gonna mention Stanley Matthews too. I know about him cos me Grandad was a Stoke fan and used to talk about him alot (obviously heard of him but wouldn't of took much notice if it weren't for me Grandad). Greatest player I remember is Maradona I think. And Kenny Samson
Uncle Albert Posted 12 April 2010 Posted 12 April 2010 I know. And I said: I cringe whenever fans of the English game sincerely compare [Messi] to Rooney or Ronaldo in terms of ability and then try and give silly excuses like bigging up the standards of the Prem or whatever. Just watch the lad play. Rooney and Ronaldo will be remembered for all time as two excellent footballers of their generation. Messi will be idolized for decades. In your opinion that is of course, you are the most anti-English person around here so you arent going to say Rooney is close to Messi and to say Ronaldo isnt close to Messi is just pure stupidity, yeah I have seen Messi play and like I have said he is unreal and is certainly on current form the best in the world but Ronaldo has achieved what Messi has done in recent years in dominating a league and scoring a shitload of goals in the process, winning a Champions League Final and scoring in the Final, winning back to back League titles, Ronaldo has done all of that and is on the same level as Messi (in my opinion), they can both change a game on its head in the blink of an eye. Ronaldo maybe in a few years will go on to do what Messi has done recently and everyone will then say he is the best in the world. Both of these two and Wayne Rooney will be remember for decades to come, we are still talking about Best, Pele, Maradonna, Van Basten, Cryuff and loads of the other players decades on and if you are stupid enough to say Rooney or Ronaldo arent as good as any of them I have mentioned, especially Best, Van Basten or Cryuff then you are very, very blinkered, which I know is rich coming from me.

How disappointing.
FoxyPV Posted 12 April 2010 Posted 12 April 2010 he's the most anti english person on here? How disappointing. Will we have a competition to see how is the most anti - English person here?
Darkzzz_ Posted 13 April 2010 Posted 13 April 2010 I don't think Finners is anti-English at all I just think he gives an assessment of how he sees things like I and all the others do. I don't say things because I think I know better than others I say things that are my opinion and if people don't like it then I don't really care. A lot of the Prem fanboys only have one view where as a few people on here and I'll use Sparky as an example actually call it quite honestly when discussing football from all the leagues they watch.
Guest Bilo Posted 13 April 2010 Posted 13 April 2010 I don't see Finners as anti-English at all. He is anti-Ingerlund, which it is a totally different thing. You know, the kind of fans who refuse to believe that any league even comes close to the Premiership and boo when we're drawing 0-0 with any team ranked below 10th in the world. He gives a realistic view from a third party and is actually fairly neutral. He isn't Radovan for fuck's sake. Anything anti-English that comes from him is usually just banter. Perhaps it's his realistic viewpoint of our shortcomings that annoys people, being so close to the truth and that.

I am definitely anti-Ingerlund and stopped watching matches in certain pubs because of this.

THIS Fuck off, Ingermongs!
Darkzzz_ Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 You're definitely the best Welsh player I have played with.
Finnegan Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 You're definitely the best Welsh player I have played with. I should write to Tosh and remind him I'm eligible.

Finners just knows how to have decent banter, ill come on here and give him some stick and he will do the same, no hard feelings and no spat dummys, although in fairness its usually Rugby related as he dont have much ammunition with his Football national team

But Ramsey's injury worries me, he's integral to the side and I really hope he doesn't miss too much from his development. I guess it's good that it's happened towards the end of the season and he has the summer to recover.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 Best players I've ever seen in the flesh Nuno Gomes, Angelo Di Livio and Enrico Chiesa when Fiorentina played City in a friendly. 3-3 it was, can't remember the year but Dean Sturridge was on fire.

Darkzzz_ Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 I should write to Tosh and remind him I'm eligible. If Savage can play for Wales then you can. Did you not go to the Barca friendly when Ronaldinhio played against us? True he didn't do much on the night, but from what he did do, you could tell he was world class (it did help that he was quality in the World Cup beforehand).
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 Oh, any my general two penneth, I've been following football since about '93, so I can only really comment on players I've seen loads of, but I'd acknowledge that others from pre-'93 should be higher (Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Best etc.) 1) Zidane 2) Ronaldo 3=) Messi 3=) C. Ronaldo 5) Ronaldinho 6) Xavi 7) Keane 8) Henry 9) Rooney 10) Beckham With the amount of greats there has been, it is always going to be difficult to come to a conclusive conclusion, and your list their shows some good players. However, if you consider naming players in an 11, I think three players would come up more times than any others; Franz Beckenbauer Bobby Charlton Bobby Moore Especially with Bobby Moore, I can't see any reason why someone would not want him in their all time XI, he was an absolute legendary player.
ACF Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 The winning formula obviously is Levi on the left, Barry Hayles and Ricky Sappleton upfront.
The Doctor Posted 15 April 2010 Posted 15 April 2010 The winning formula obviously is Levi on the left, Barry Hayles and Ricky Sappleton upfront. where's Trevor Benjiman & Frank Sinclair?

Chiesa scored a scorcher if I remember correctly. This man definitely deserves a mention. His goal scoring record is phenomenal at club and international level.
Samilktray Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Ronaldinho was in my opinion, the most gifted player of the last decade, shame hes gone abit off the boil in recent years.
